Holiday Kick Off

Girls' Trip
We had a great time! The location is perfect for walking to downtown shops and eateries. The weather was lovely allowing us to enjoy relaxing conversation in the large well maintained yard and patio. Beds and linens were excellent and the kitchen was well stocked. We were surprised by the television that just came on suddenly (twice a day). We couldn't find a timer setting on it, so we simply turned it off and had a good laugh. Would definitely stay here again.

Historic Charm
The house was clean and just as promised, it was an historic adventure. We did have a little trouble getting in when we arrived, as there were issues with the doors working properly. the owner was quick to rectify the problem and the rest of our stay was excellent.

Yes to the Wisdom House for everyone who has the opportunity to stay! AND the Baker City community hails the refurbishing of this beautiful home. Saving history is vital to thriving cities. Baker is full of stories, beautiful old buildings and wonderful small shops and eateries. You owe yourself a visit! PS. Veronica goes out of her way to make your stay just right! She is highly respected in her small community as well.

The overall experience was very good. The house has so much character. We all loved it. The house needed to have housekeeping make a quick walk through before we arrived. The grounds were very well kept.

Historic home experience with updated amenities
The house is located in the historic district of Baker City, It is close to downtown shops and areas of interest. The home is historic but has updated kitchen and baths. I stayed in the bedroom on the first floor and my friends managed the steep staircase to the lovely 2nd floor. We did not access or use the third floor area. We got a quick response when we emailed Victoria regarding the blinds. There is also an alarm system for safety.

Great location, and a fun house to explore
This house is prob the best rental in Baker City for groups. The location is walking distance to fun things down town, even in the winter. The house itself takes a full 20 min to explore; there are so many rooms and interesting things to see. Interesting nooks and decor add to the charm. As with old houses, bathrooms are an issue; 1 upstairs and 1 down stairs. The shower didn't work for us due to pipes freezing. The bath/shower upstairs is challenging for older fellows.

Wonderful getaway in a piece of history
We spent a great 7 nights at the Wisdom House over Christmas. The house has everything you need for a memorable and comfortable stay. The beds and linens are very comfortable, and the kitchen well stocked. The big bathroom has a clawfoot tub that's great for soaking. We enjoyed many dinners around the big dining room table, and a great Christmas Eve and morning around the tree with the fireplaces crackling. Main street is just a block away with lots of great shops to explore. We skiied several days at Anthony Lakes, which was such a relaxing and fun break from the chaos of bigger ski resorts.

Beautiful Historic Home
The house is full of history and stocked perfectly for a stay. The king bed in the master bedroom is super comfortable and the linens were lovely. The only issue was the house was infested with 100’s of flies (both dead and alive) and other bugs. Maybe it had something to do with the time of year but the bugs were a bit much.

Thank you for staying with us. We really appreciate you bringing this issue to our attention. Once we received this information, after the reservation, I did immediately call pest control who was able to respond that same day. The pests were no longer active. The pest control tech did not recommend treating for them at this particular time and said due to the unexpected warm days we had (unusual for Nov) had made them active, in addition to all the nooks, crannies in this old historic home allowing for entry. He did suggest treating during the fall and gave me options available (such as barriers around the old historic windows) which are safe and non-toxic. Thank you so much for brining this to my attention and now we have solutions for upcoming years.

Family reunion
The home was very comfortable and welcoming. We especially appreciated how clean everything was. We had just had a bad experience at a home we stayed at for another family reunion where everything was broken down, very unclean and unsanitary. Third Time's a Charm
This is a great house to share time with family. We have been able to celebrate birthdays twice and spend a sibling get-away weekend. The location is very central and within easy walking distance to just about everything. It is well-supplied with things you need and its spaciousness allows for lots of guests. It's a fun and welcoming place and we will return again for sure.

Wonderful stay in beautifully restored historic home
We had a most lovely stay here with all the amenities we needed. The owners are wonderful and very responsive and they made our stay memorable. I celebrated my birthday here with our family, cooked scrumptious breakfasts and dinners in the fully appointed kitchen. We cannot wait to return!

Great house for a family reunion.
We needed a lot of beds in bedrooms for a family reunion. This fit the bill. The yard was a great place to visit outside. Each of the 3 floors had a TV and sitting area. We never turned a TV on. Everything is there for a great time. The historic house has been furnished with comfortable furniture and beds. Good parking is onsite. The kitchen has modern appliances, but has not been totally remodeled. However we did have everything we needed for group meals. The pictures do not show the outside well. A good bit of paint could make this jewel shine. That was the only reason for the 4 star on accuracy. Veronica was extremely helpful when we texted her with questions about the property, We would recommend The Wisdom House for any group looking for a comfortable place to gather.

Beautiful, historic victorian style house super close to downtown Baker City.
We had a very relaxing time at Wisdom House. It was the perfect place to rest up from our hike in the Willowas. The claw foot tub and the pig grill were highlights. Thanks to Veronica for being an accommodating host!

A great house in a perfect location
Our family of five and two groomsmen stayed here for our son’s wedding, and we hosted the rehearsal dinner for 24 on the lawn. This large, well-appointed, centrally located home was perfect for the occasion, and I only wish we’d had a few more days to just relax in it. We’ve stayed in vacation rentals all over the world, and my family says this was definitely one of the best. Veronica is easy to work with, and checking in was easy. I highly recommend this property.

Lovely Wisdom House
We only stayed a short while, but loved the house. We had the opportunity to visit with the owner, Veronica, at length. The renovation of this beautiful old house is her passion and it shows. Beds and linens were sumptuous and I highly recommend a relaxing bath in the old claw foot tub! With bubbles!

Great house!!
Really cool house, comfy beds and nice little extras (the robes!!, tea, toiletries, Netflix, etc.). We had a great little ski vacation (except my husband) at Anthony lakes and really enjoyed coming back to the house to relax and make nice big dinners in. The only reason I didn't give our particular stay 5 stars is because my husband slipped on the porch the first day and injured his back. We spend the morning in the ER and he really couldn't move the rest of the weekend:(. Veronica was great and brought over de-icer right away.

This should be called "Awesome House"!
This was our third VRBO and it was by far our favorite! The house has been remodeled, but kept in it's period style. It was charming, the beds were comfy and the amenities were just what we needed. We enjoyed sitting outside too! Next time we are BBQ'ing in the pig!! Veronica did a really good job decorating and has a really great location. We were able to walk into town and parking was perfect for the Hell's Canyon Motorcycle Rally we were there for. We look forward to returning soon! Mahalo Veronica!

Really a great spot to base a weekend getaway of exp.oring Baker County.
Wisdom house was perfect for our group of three couples. Beds were cozy, house well stocked. We did the Friday Art walk, hiked at Anthony Lakes, poked around in Sumpter, and attended a rodeo in Haines. Veronica was easy to reach with the couple of questions we had. We boarded our dog at 'Donna's Groom and Board which was really close, so that worked out well. We would definitely recommend Wisdom house to those looking for a Baker City getaway.

Updated historic house
This is definitely a historic house but has been updated with modern fixtures and bedding. It's old but comfortable. It's within walking distance to the downtown area. It was a bit noisy (traffic) on our Saturday night stay but not enough to hinder sleeping. This is a good choice if you want to stay in downtown Baker City.

Great get away!
We met up at the Wisdom house in Baker City from Park City, Portland and Seattle. We loved the place it was well equipped to handle the six of us. It's located so you can walk to anything you need and is next to my favorite Mexican restaurant El Errado. We enjoyed great skiing conditions at Anthony Lakes and a few us enjoyed some awesome Cat Skiing. Definitely will stay here again!
