My daughters & I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Getaway Cottage. We spent 6 glorious days paddleboarding, working our way through stacks of books we've wanted to catch up on, listening to the loons, and enjoying the sunsets and stars at this beautiful, serene place. This was our first HomeAway rental and I think we've now been spoiled! Kristi & Ed were warm, wonderful hosts, thinking of everything we might need so that after 5 minutes of our unpacking some groceries upon arrival, we were able to immediately slip into fun & relaxation mode. There were many thoughtful touches we discovered throughout our stay, including a food basket upon arrival, delicious chocolate strawberries, a binder with helpful information, very comfortable beds, and a pantry stocked with staples we might need to help prepare meals. There were plenty of nooks that allowed us each to have our own private space when needed. We chose to rent paddleboards for our stay but there was a rowboat and canoe available at the cottage. We spent many hours swimming & happily paddling the beautiful pond. Based on one of Kristi's suggestions, we hopped over the Canadian border to visit Bleu Lavande (a lavender farm). Although it was a bit early to see the lavender in full bloom, we really enjoyed the music, scents, and foot massages at the edge of the lavender field, and on our way back, discovered a wonderful french bread bakery in Stanstead. Other than venturing out to Parker Pie (great pizza!), though, we were very happy to escape the world for a few days (although for those who don't want to disconnect, there was good wifi available). We are already planning our return to the cottage (and to the doughnut place that works on the honor system that Kristi & Ed suggested we hit on our way back through "town")!
