The Protea Hotel will be my choice for stay in Benin moving forward. The showers were always hot & air conditioner, always cold. The staff was extremely accommodating and prepared to help or offer guidance. The beds could be softer but that’s the standard in the area. I always felt secure about my belongings during my stay. The cleaner was an absolute pleasure every morning, offering new sheets & towels at request. Overall a great stay. Be sure to try the grilled catfish & the ice cold Heineken on draft.

The staff need more training. Restaurant needs to put their things together as everything you order is not available. The worst part is they will take the order and be back after 30 mins to tell you is not available. The rooms are clean and good.

Generally, the staff were responsive, respectful; the were well dressed and groomed. The hotel was clean. Everything was generally on top of the line. Excellent, I will say. Please keep it up.

Likes... good food, friendly staff, free parking, WiFi. Deslikes- persistently pungent smell in the hallways and staircase. Needs to be addressed! My 3rd visit in the past 4yrs and will not be staying there In my next visit, smell was so much worse this time around!!! Huge sum of money went missing and management was going to investigate and get back to me but that didn't happen.

World class facility and world class services; but the management need to restrict non-guest from roaming building. Restaurant meal can also use more variety. Overall it’s 10/10 in terms of world standard, cleanliness, and service. Probably the best hotel (this very facility in Benin City) in Benin City and in Edo State. I can also say it’s one of the best hotel (I mean this very facility in Benin City) in the country (Nigeria)

SUPER UNCOMFORTABLE STAY WITH EXTREMELY RUDE STAFF
The hotel its was nice however, the front desk staff were extremely rude and made it an uncomfortable stay. Some days we skipped breakfast just to avoid the staff. They made unnecessary calls to the rooms. They need customer service training. The hotel had no orange juice available for breakfast or ever. Almost every item in the menu for room service was never available.

I was pleasantly surprised. Rooms are nice and clean. Lacking good customer service, some of the staff are rude but that’s typical African standard. Need better variety for the breakfast Buffett.

Was really frustrating on arrival they didn’t have a record of my payment on Travelocity. I had to call Travelocity while standing at the counter after more than 30 hours of travel for them to resolve it. They had insisted I payed again and asked for my credit card which I refused.

Great place for travelers to relax and feel safe. Power from grid goes off several times a day, but standby power generators kick in and keeps the lights and AC going. Gym equipment needs attention

The location is excellent because it’s very close to police headquarters and also close to Benin Airport . it’s owned by Marriotts so the service is better than any other hotel I found in Benin.Good selection of room service and although I swam in the pool every day it is a bit smaller than what the pictures depict.I would definitely stay here again if I travel to Benin

I liked the location because it was very Close to The police headquarters in Benin. The room was clean and the pool, although small was nice to Swim in. This is the best hotel in Benin that you can find! Because It is a Marriott brand so they have higher standards. I would definitely stay here again.

This is a very good, even an exclusive hotel in Europena standard. Just one thing I didn't approved. The bed was extremly hard. My back got very soure from sleeping in the bed. The reason for this was that the bed lacked the Overlay mattress. All beds in the hotel was according to the staff like this. With the missing overlay mattress would the bed probably be perfect. Great bathroom. Professional staff, clean and neat. A perfect hotel I will recommend for anyone going to Benin City. I will definitely come back if they add the overlay mattress until next time.
