'What a find this place was! Loved the retro decor but with modern appliances and amenities. Very comfy beds and furniture, and lovely screened porch facing the woods. Mt. Hope is not much of a town but it’s located about halfway between the northern and southern ends of the NP which made for shorter drives in either direction to access trails. 'This was a great place to stay, especially with a pet! It was a perfect location for getting to New River Gorge National Park and traveling around. We did not spend a ton of time here, but the evenings were lovely! Highly recommend. '

'The property is an affordable option if you want to visit New River Gorge and not pay hundreds per night at the resort or tent camp in order to do so. For the price you get a clean, air conditioned place to stay with a basic kitchen and great shower, which is perfect for after a day of hiking or other activities. You can't walk to get anywhere and it's a 15-20 minute drive into town, so just plan accordingly. The host is very responsive and helpful. '

'A beautiful brick house( 2 story with a basement) on a small hill as you drive up and see the American flag flying from the front porch looks just like home, very welcoming. The house was perfect for our stay( blended family and kids getting bigger) everyone had plenty of space, comfy couches/ recliners. All the linens and comfy blankets we needed were there. 'This little house was quite roomy and cozy. The host provided check-in and WiFi information on request only, but responded quickly to all our questions. WiFi was spotty, which probably isn't unusual this deep in the countryside. The washer was broken when we got there. The kitchen cupboards were full, yet I couldn't find a matching lid for the big pot, nor was there a ladle. 'Location across from a creek was beautiful, and super quiet, I caught you on my sleep. Very comfortable bed, good quality sheets and towels, plenty of hot water, and good water pressure. Immaculately clean. Small confusion about check in but easily sorted, hosts were easy to contact and very friendly. Close to 64 and a short drive to 19. Great place to rest up after hiking and rafting.'

'We stayed here for a family event. Ages of our group range from 83 to 17. Our hosts were so welcoming and beyond hospitable. Their house was very clean and located close to everything we needed. The street is quite peaceful. We enjoyed the personal touches at this location and appreciated the handicap accessibility with the ramp and walk-in shower. I would definitely recommend! '

'Our trip was great! The house felt like our home away from home. They had everything we could’ve needed! It was a great home base for riding the Bearwallow trails. The road up to the house is a little narrow but no issues if you take your time. Most people are nice and move over as far as they can. Everyone was very friendly and we had some good conversations. ' The Host (Gary) goes out of his way to make sure you have EVERYTHING you need for an enjoyable stay! He communicates and asks if there is anything you need. The house was awesome and clean and was well stocked with EVERYTHING! When he says you don’t need to bring anything but your clothes, he really means it! I will definitely return! Thumbs up! '
