Our townhouse, which is about 400 years old, is located in the heart of the historic, protected town center of Franconia’s smallest town—the beautiful little town of Betzenstein. Within the town walls, which are still largely intact, there are about 60 historic houses and barns, and only a few hundred people live in the historic town center itself. This, combined with its location in the midst of Franconia’s most beautiful natural surroundings and the fact that there is no through traffic passing through the town, is what gives this place its very special charm. In no time at all, you’ll feel yourself slowing down and finding peace here—and as a result, you’ll be able to truly relax and unwind. That’s exactly what makes for a good vacation, and Betzenstein offers all of that.

The entire house is used exclusively by our vacation guests. It comprises three vacation apartments of varying sizes, as well as a small, private café on the first floor, which primarily serves as a reception area for guests and can also be rented separately upon request. The house is complemented by a quirky and chic laundromat where you can wash and dry your clothes for a small fee—or simply hang out, as its ambiance invites you to do so. On hot summer days, there’s hardly a more pleasant spot in the entire house: walls over a meter thick and a refreshing breeze provide soothing coolness—wonderful!

Our vacation apartments in the building:
Our three vacation apartments (sleeping 8, 4, and 2–3 guests) have each been thoughtfully and stylishly designed for you with great attention to detail. Each unit has its own distinctive charm and therefore bears its own name: “Belle Etage,” “Chalet,” and “Burgblick.” The furnishings in each unit feature a mix of different styles—from an Art Nouveau cabinet to a modern sideboard to a Biedermeier sofa. Old and new coexist harmoniously here, complemented by contemporary technology (including Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, and LED RGB lighting). This blend of tradition and modernity could perhaps be called “Landurban”—in any case, you won’t have to compromise on your technological needs when staying with us.

The “Burgblick”:
The “Burgblick” vacation suite is our most compact unit in the house and accommodates 2–3 people. Like the entire house, it combines historic charm with modern comfort and contemporary technology.
There are two different sleeping options available: a standard alcove bed (120 cm wide) and a sofa bed (140 cm wide). Whether you fold it up or leave it unfolded is entirely up to you—most guests simply leave it unfolded during the day because the kitchen is a wonderful place to sit together anyway. The sleeper sofa offers a slightly different sleeping surface than a traditional bed and is therefore particularly well-suited for guests who are comfortable with this and don’t require a consistently firm mattress.

The patio area in front of the house is freely available to all guests—for breakfast, a cup of coffee, a barbecue, or simply to watch the goings-on in Betzenstein in peace. If you’d like, you can always interact with people from the terrace—but of course, you don’t have to.

For a fee of 8.50 EUR per person, you can optionally book a linens package. It includes bed linens, towels, and kitchen linens.

Our “Burgcafé”:
The “Burgcafé” is a former public café space on the first floor of the house with an adjoining vaulted kitchen. It is primarily used for welcoming guests, but can also be rented separately by guests staying at the house upon request (in combination with at least the “Chalet” vacation apartment and for a minimum of 3 days). The café is ideal for family and friends gatherings (up to about 20 people) and is fully equipped: a high-quality kitchen, numerous games, a cozy fireplace, a large 75-inch flat-screen TV for movie or photo nights together, a stereo system, and light show equipment.

Who is the “Burgcafé” vacation home suitable for?
So far, guests of all ages have felt right at home here. We really can’t set any age restrictions.
However, since we’re a townhouse without a dedicated play area for toddlers, we’re particularly well-suited for families with children aged 10 and up. For younger guests, however, there’s also a truly beautiful, large adventure playground behind the Schlossberg with a zip
