Great location & service, bad condition of hotel
I can't complain about the service, since everyone we dealt with at the hotel was excellent and hospitable. I feel that we received great service from all the staff members that we interacted with.
The location is SUPERB. You are within a 3 minute walk of the downtown area, and the port where you arrive on the ferry. You can easily walk over from the ferry carrying luggage without a problem. Amazing location within steps of restaurants shops and the water.
These are the positives, onto the negative which I consider a big one. The condition of this hotel is pretty awful. We went the week before Memorial Day, right before rates spike. I would be totally angry had I paid $200+ for this property during peak season since the condition of the Inn is deplorable. It needs MANY serious renovations. A lot of the charm of Block Island is the older homes which retain character and I understand that, so not expecting hotel-chain standards. This place takes it one step too far. Exposed piping in the bathroom, bathroom floors that badly need new tile, extremely old bedding and rugs,etc. The rooms and bathroom have this terrible constant smell of an extremely old home that's in bad need of a deep cleaning. The place looks like a Grandma's home that hasn't been maintained or fixed up in 50+ years. Only a few fixes would be needed to spruce this place up. Also, be aware that it's a SHARED bathroom situation.
