"Almost Heaven" lives up to its name. My husband and I live at the beautiful gulf coast, and our grandsons, now ages 14 and 15, have always spent a summer week at our home going to the beach, playing putt-putt, and doing and seeing all of the fun stuff in this area.
We decided this year to try something new and spend a few days in the mountains. The drive up to the cabin is steep and twisty, but the first thing the 15 year old said when we arrived was that this was a really good change from the beach.
The cabin is comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked (bring your own spices), and everyone has privacy with the bedrooms and bathrooms on different levels, but the outside areas are what make this cabin special. The views are BREATHTAKING! Each balcony is equipped with comfortable seating and tables. The outdoor living area on the lower level is absolutely stunning. It has a lovely fireplace with several seating options, and at night the lighting is magical. The hot tub was great for easing tired muscles from hiking the trails.
The game room was fun. The pool table was pretty old and tired, but the boys enjoyed playing ping-pong, the outside "dart" board, and some of the other games.
The most fun day was white water rafting on the Ocoee river. It is only about a 30-45 minute drive and the boys had a blast. Do it if you can!
Best meal was at "Tapas and Tequila" in Blue Ridge. Yummy!
"Almost Heaven" is a place we would love to return to.
