De ontvangst was vriendelijk door Martina. Onze kamer was op de zolderverdieping en slecht 2 meter hoog; erg benauwd. De airco was kapot (niet te reguleren) en erg hard: moeilijk om bij te slapen. Het raam moest opengehouden worden met een doos die we na een klacht gekregen hadden. Uit de douche kwam amper water. Met nog wat andere mankementen werd in eerste instantie door de receptioniste niets gedaan en laks gereageerd. De volgende dag voelden we ons wel zeer gehoord door Martina; hij gaf ons zonder toeslag een kamer een verdieping lager waar we het goed naar onze zin hadden. lastig is dag er geen nachtkastjes zijn. Het ontbijt was mager en er was geen ruimte waar je kon zitten, dus naar buiten of op de kamer. Parkeren kan achter het huis en is erg duur: 25 dollar per dag!

The Hotel itself is quaint and clean, set up in an old style, Private type home setting, with very large rooms, clean, and within walking distance (blocks away) from restaurants and an actual supermarket in case one doesn't want to spend loads of money to eat every day/night. But count on NONE of the usual front desk service one may be accustomed to. My stay was for 3 full nights, and it took 15 minutes of standing in the reception area "puzzled" before a person actually appeared and checked me in when I first arrived. And I never saw that person (or any front desk/reception person) ever again during my stay. There was no one available to clean the room each day if I wanted it (not even to remove daily trash), nor was there anyone available to replace towels daily. Fortunately the room had enough for my short stay. was very strange. Quaint, but strange. If thats not an issue for you, this is your Hotel.

Overall we loved our stay, and will definitely stay again next time that we come to Boston! My only complaint is that the correct remote for our TV was missing, so we were not able to use the TV. The staff was very friendly and helpful, but were not able to find the remote until a couple of days later when we were checking out. (I’m not sure where it was, perhaps in another person’s room.) I normally would not care, but it’s February and very cold out. We were looking forward to coming back to our warm hotel room to just relax and watch a little tv, and we were not able to.

The Beacon inn is a cool old brownstone house. Very comfortable and I could walk to lunch and dinner. I made the mistake of renting a car at the airport. The T Train stop is just outside the front door. I would stay here again.

This was the worst experience I've ever had. The B&B is in bad condition. I checked in after hours and the key to the building and my room was in a box that anyone passing by had access to! The front door knob was loose. Then next morning, I awoke to a staff member screaming at the top of his lungs! I was very unnerved to say the least. I communicated my distress and my concerns but he was still on site the next day. The breakfast was a joke! A Keurig machine that you had to fill with water yourself! It included a few muffins and croissants and that was about it. RENTERS BEWARE!

Our building is a beautiful brownstone that is often complimented for it’s beautiful, historic, and architectural character. Our check in process is continually monitored. Most of our guests highly enjoy our light continental breakfast to help them get going in the morning. We have a variety of baked goods, cereal, oatmeal, fruit, coffee, tea, juice, and more served daily. Our beverages and snacks are available to guests 24 hours a day.

I submitted two questions (about whether breakfast was supplied, and whether there were phones in the room) on the Beacon Inn website, two days before I was due to fly to the US. I've just discovered that I did receive a reply; unfortunately, it was sent when I was already at the gate at Heathrow. I couldn't get into my inbox at all while I was in the US, because my very simple mobile phone didn't work there, and so I couldn't receive the passcodes that Yahoo now sends me whenever I try to log in anywhere except on my home Mac.

This hotel should be avoided. It was dirty, had signs of previous un-repaired water damage on the walls, had holes in the wood floor and in the ceiling. We found signs of what appeared to be mouse droppings.

Beautiful Location with Easy, Friendly Access
Arrived on Friday afternoon, & found instructions in an envelope, with my name & room key, in the mailbox, outside. The building is lovely. As I entered, I could see that the beautiful architecture remained. The reception area was crowded into the foyer of the house & felt too tight because not only did it include the office space, but it also kept snacks, plates & other things. The areas that would have been the parlor & dining room areas are visitor bedrooms that open into the office. My room was on the 3rd floor. The steps up were original, in great shape, & covered in beautiful rugs. The second floor landing was ample, included 3 or 4 bedrooms, with original doors & wallpaper that matched the era. My landing was equally preserved, & my room was large. It held two, queen-sized beds, a large TV with streaming services, two period armoire-type of closets, & a small bathroom. A few of the things I noticed: I had to straighten out the sheets before getting in, & the skirts on both beds were for larger beds & awkwardly placed. The bed I used, however, was comfortable. The room had one window with a small air conditioner. The shower in the bathroom was extremely tight. It seemed the bath was remodeled in the 1980s, based on the decor, the shower, & the flooring. It worked just fine, though! The person at the desk, later, was very friendly! Thanks for a safe & cozy stay! I didn't stay for breakfast. The neighborhood is old Boston & gorgeous. Walking is a pleasure.

This is a barely passable facility. The local network wasn't working and when it was brought back up, there was intermittent access to the internet for about 2 hours; my room door was almost impossible to open, I had to forcibly pull up on the handle to get it unstuck each time I opened it; the shower stall was incredibly tiny, with a fixed showerhead so it was difficult to get water over anything lower than my head and shoulders; the main "closet" was full of a jumbled mess of blankets and other ?????; the bed springs squeaked each time I moved; there was no phone in the room to call anyone, so when I was having problems with the network and the internet, I had to run back and forth down the stairs from the third floor to the "lobby" desk to talk to the one employee there; and the entire place has a rundown look that could use a massive effort just to make it look like it is a livable, comfortable inn. And one little detail that I personally found annoying: no tissues anywhere!

This place is a joke. They have 'parking' out back with six spots that you have to reserve and pay for ahead of time, but you'll return to the inn from being out and there will be no spots. You call their 'emergency number' supposedly to have someone help, and no one calls you back. It's dirty, and you have to walk through a sketchy tunnel with rats (yes, I saw rats) around the trash bins to get to the parking area. 'Breakfast' is stale croissants and muffins, not enough for all guests. They don't care about guests whatsoever.

Several issues with the Inn. The room was dirty. There were mouse poison bate stations in the room and I saw one mouse running around the room. I made sure that my bags were closed to prevent a stowaway. Under the beds and under the armoire were not cleaned in quite some time. The air conditioner vent was filthy as was the bathroom vent. Caked with dust. The AC unit was black inside the vents and thus there are concerns of mold. I have pictures. I checked in at 3PM, which was fine. Later that night when I was out, someone from the Inn tried to call me several times and left no message. When I returned to the inn around 11pm, there was a note on the door with my last name in large letters (I have a privacy issue with that) pointing to an envelope in the mailbox that had a 2nd key to my room and papers in it for me to fill out. Mind you, I had filled out all these papers when I checked in at 3PM earlier that day, yet someone was not aware of that and believed I had not checked in. I called about this the next morning, left a voice mail and no one ever returned my call. My concerns with that are privacy and security. Anyone on the street could walk up, grab a key to enter the building and the room to rob, attack or assault the guests. Too bad as it could be a quaint place to stay in a quiet part of Brookline with easy access to the T, but it feels like the owners/management are doing below the bare minimum.

It is conveniently located simple and charmingly old and has a nice historical atmosphere. Good for ones who are okay with little imperfections. One little tip : if you were to stay and need the parking, you have to reserve a spot and pay for it.

Property is old so some of the issues are to be expected, like squeaking stairs and doors that stick shut with old locks. It could really use some upgrades though. Parking is ridiculous. If you're going to run a place like this you should have ample parking for all of your guests. We were lucky enough to get a spot in their very tiny, too many "spaces" for one location "lot". Keys are also expected to be left in an unlocked cubby where anyone could potentially steal them... Not safe. We dropped our luggage off and headed out for the night, when we returned we noticed our trashes hadn't been emptied from the previous guests, and old food had been left in the refrigerator. There was no one at the desk to confront about this at the time. Made us uncomfortable in the room as it felt like it hadn't been cleaned. Television didn't work, we spent forever trying to turn it on with no success. Again no one downstairs at the front desk to ask for help (this is the next morning). I'm not sure what was offered for breakfast besides single serving cereal boxes, because once again there was no one to ask. Didn't seem like there were any other options but we didn't feel comfortable digging around. At checkout again no one around, dropped our keys and hopped we'd be checked out. I called later on to mention we'd had food left in our room. The person on the phone apologized but nothing else. Okay for one night, the T is very loud outside. Don't recommend a long stay. We won't be returning.

The room and bathroom seemed fairly clean, the beddings didn’t. Sheets and pillowcases seemed like they were not changed after the last customer. If they were actually changed then they need to be tossed. If stains don’t come out in the wash- toss it.
