4/10 – Matig

I own a condo in Summit County and am very familiar with what a well-managed rental experience should look like. Unfortunately, Great Western Lodging fell short in several key areas during my recent stay.I had to pick up physical keys from an office across town, which is inconvenient and outdated in 2026. There should have been a lockbox or keypad. When I picked up the keys, there was only one key for the deadbolt and one for the knob, with no duplicates. For a unit that sleeps up to eight people, this is not acceptable. My check-in instructions said that the building access codes would be uploaded to my guest portal. They were not. I had to call the after-hours line and wait half an hour, and the responses I received came across as condescending and uninformed. I was repeatedly told the codes were in the portal even after I shared a screenshot showing they were missing. There was also confusion about why one of the two keys did not open the unit door. The condo itself was dated but fine. The sliding door was difficult to use and the jets in the HOA hot tubs were broken. Additionally the smoke detector seemed to be missing from one of the bedrooms, but I only realized this at check-out, so that didn't fill me with confidence either. All-in-all not terrible, but disappointing. The location to the slopes and town was perfectly acceptable.Overall, the property was adequate, but the management experience was frustrating enough that I would not book with Great Western again
