We had a fantastic stay. The room was immaculate and I could use the lift to our room. (OA in knees) The shower was gorgeous. We came for a memorial which was in the chapel nearby and then refreshments at Buckners Hard. The staff were amazing and did very well, even though a bit understaffed for a while. The food was amazing and delicious. We will, definitely stay again. See more of the sights and the ponies 🥰 Thank you ☺️

The on line information matches the pictures, beautiful setting with walks across the road, horses roaming free. Pub next door is so convenient for drinks and food. Lovely atmosphere.

Overall incredibly disappointing
This hotel could be so much better. The receptionist was lovely and the area excellent but the building is incredibly neglected with stained carpets throughout. Worse though was the restaurant with an already limited menu limited to almost non-existent because someone had forgotten to order food for the kitchen to prepare. This was exacerbated by the restaurant manager squeakily repeating that it was not his fault 🙄 That said, breakfast was a pretty sorry affair with a poorly prepared and tasteless full English.

Great on the surface but could be better
Initial impressions…outside looks great, bar and dining areas very cosy and inviting. Had to wait 10minutes at reception as no-one around. Although a sign on desk did say ‘back shortly’ I just wanted to check in after a long day. Was told I was upgraded as I was a late check in which was a nice touch! The Room was a decent size, warm and quiet. However, felt room was basic, no towels, bottle of water was empty and there was rubbish in the bin. Room was clean and beds were made up so obviously the cleaner left in a hurry! I was offered a complimentary drink at the bar as a result of this. Wifi in room 15 has a poor signal. The TV was ok but could really do with updating. TV guide didn’t work. Overall room was ok but nothing special. Didn’t eat at restaurant but again looked cosy. Would I stay again? Probably yes, but that’s because of its location in the middle of a beautiful area.

Wrong cake!
We stayed for my wife’s birthday. The place needs some serious Maintenance and there were never any staff around. The ‘drift’ restaurant is chaotic. They had run out of many things. I had pre-arranged for the kitchen to make us a birthday cake. Despite me clarifying that we wanted a chocolate cake we got a jam sponge cake which we were all disappointed with.

Lovely spot. Pleasant helpful staff. Nice decor and ambience. Lovely garden and lounge areas. Had to go to the building next door for meals which might not be ideal in the rain. Few issues with keeping the window open, noise from the road and shower wasn’t the best but non of this really mattered. Really enjoyed our stay.

Inconsistent and disappointing
We arrived late and the lady stayed to check us in which was lovely. The room was ok but small for a family of 4 with 2 young children. The other room we booked for 2 other family members was bigger but had previous water damage with paint and wallpaper coming off the walls. The receptionist was lovely and knew answers to questions as well as ensuring that we had everything we needed. The staff in the pub however were slow and answered back. We had a meal 2 days in a row that was a different portion size each time and instead of making it right they just left it and we had to pay the same amount. We were sat at a dirty table, not provided with a highchair for our 8 month old baby, just a booster seat. Eggs at breakfast were undercooked or overcooked. Barely right. Sausages were tough as if they had been under a lamp for too long. Our child had more ice cream than we did on the same dessert. It was just so inconsistent. Each day when cleaning the room, no dirty towels were removed, nor dirty glasses and spoons. Towels were replenished and beds were made but when staying for 3 nights we had a huge pile of towels and dirty crockery with the already small family room. Main toilets were dirty and hand towels were everywhere at 9.15am on Sunday, they clearly hadn’t been cleaned from the wedding party the previous night. Lots of training needed and a bit of TLC. We won’t be returning.

Like: location, ambience. Dislike: 1. even though rooms were available when we arrived at 10:30 we were not allowed in until 11:00. 2. The food was very good but service was dreadful - at dinner we waited nearly an hour for our food and it took 2 hours from arriving to our dessert order to be taken - At breakfast, we waited over 30 mins for the cooked breakfast and had to remind the waitress. It then arrived immediately but was dried up. 3. Even though we left the 'please make up room' notice outside the room nearly all day it was never done.

Very Good
Stayed in one of their garden rooms and honestly couldn’t really fault it. The room was bigger than I expected. Quite close to the railway line but that stops at night. Didn’t disturb us and we had the windows open. Restaurant is in the attached pub, food and service excellent for pub grub and we tailored ours.. no problem for the staff.

Well, firstly the location is Stunning and the stay here was part of our anniversary celebrations. Dining staff were excellent, however booking in did go well receptionist quite rude. I know we were 30mins early, were told to "go away and comeback at three", okay, but found that quite rude could have been delivered better surely. Now the room, the walls and ceiling had scruff marks on them , mould on the window frames and windows needed a good clean wash basin waste did not retain water and slowly ran away with the plug in place. would have been nice to have a shower cubicle and not a shower over the bath, maybe other rooms offer this. We booked a deluxe room with a double bed I know what a double or single bed is, ours was two singles pushed together what is that called how about uncomfortable and not what i requested. Should i have complained yes but really SHOULD i have to do that. The trip was great the hotel was not! Sadly disappointed in view of the cost.

Our room let us down
Lovely hotel in a beautiful setting with very friendly staff. We enjoyed lunch at the inn next door & soaked up the beautiful location of the hotel before check in. The reception staff were lovely on our check in & even provided a big bag of treats for our dog which was a lovely touch. Unfortunately once we got in our room, we were met with a broken bath, a leaking shower head, scribble marks & scuff marks all over the walls & doors, dirty marks on the bed linen & a dirty ear bud on the floor! Also our room was next to a staff door & they smoked right outside our window which meant we couldn't open our windows to get some fresh air in. Its such a shame. Lots of small things accumilated to such a disappointment. The hotel itself was so relaxing & the location was the best, so it makes us sad that our room was really not in a good state & because of that we really cant warrant paying to stay again.

The staff were very friendly. The food was good but the restaurant was cold both in the morning and evening. The box of biscuits supplied was already opened and a biscuit removed. The area is lovely and easy walks straight from the door. The pool is not really suitable for swimming. Car charging was a bonus.
