NIEUW - Quiet Lakefront Cabin

Gloednieuwe lakefront cabine !!! Ontsnap aan de chaos van het leven in dit gezellige huisje aan het prachtige Hohman-meer. Deze hut met 1 slaapkamer ligt aan een privรฉmeer van 80 hectare en is een rustig toevluchtsoord buiten de gebaande paden, op slechts enkele minuten van de stad. Er zijn geen jetski's of motoren boven 5 pk toegestaan op het meer, dus het is ongelooflijk stil en vredig. Met een prachtig uitzicht, geweldig vissen, kajakken en de natuur direct voor de deur, bent u zeker om te ontspannen. Deze hut ligt aan de rand van Shawnee National Forest, waar u kunt wandelen, bergbeklimmen, watervallen, mountainbiken en andere buitenrecreatie. Als dat niet jouw kopje thee is, dan kun je wijn drinken op de wereldberoemde wijnroutes van Zuid-Illinois of je geluk beproeven in het casino van de rivierboot op slechts 15 minuten afstand. KORTINGEN worden gegeven voor wekelijkse boekingen.

Lovely view!

What a gem of a spot! Serene lake views with sunrise and sunset colors. Kayaking across a lake like glass. Watching turtles pop up and herons fly across. A cozy cabin with a little hot tub to sit in while you relax and look at the view. There are great hikes near by. We highly recommend the Garden of the Gods observation trial and Ferne Clyffe.

Cozy little cabin with a beautiful location, very quiet and comfy. Some small issues with birdlife, several nests in ceiling of back porch with a lot of excrement around, but still thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Would come back!

Peaceful, glamping trip

We enjoyed our short time at this peaceful cabin; we equated it to "glamping" and that was just fine for us. It is remote and secluded but not isolated. The cell service is spotty but not non-existent. The weather was a bit chilly so we didn't get to kayak but we did spend several evenings watching the sun go down on the dock. We also laid on the dock for some star gazing on a clear night. Saw some shooting stars and had fun guessing the constellations. It was so nice to hear the crickets, frogs, and owls sing.We did come across a few hiccups. I wanted to include these to give others a heads-up. When we wanted to grill dinner, no lighter was found on the property. (We reached out to the owners and got no response, not even the next day.) Thankfully, we had a spare lighter to help ignite the grill. We also did not know we needed to bring our own firewood; however we were surrounded by trees and were able to source some decently dry wood to make a bonfire. There was some lighter fluid provided that helped. Be sure to bring an old newspaper to start fire though. Gravel path to dock has seen better days. The unevenness made it tricky for us both. Helpful note: the grill is charcoal, not propane. The mattress is quite firm. Bring your own games and a book if the weather is inclement; Use your own password for streaming services. Portion of road leading to the property is gravel. Lastly, the coffee pot needs a good, deep, thorough cleaning. We were uncomfortable using it.

Best kept secret!!

We love this lake and we love this property!!!! The house is super clean!!! The hot tub with the view is worth the trip! We find it quiet and private when we visit.

Enjoyed a very relaxing week on the lake. My only real complaint was the overgrowth of lily pads that skirted out 15 ft around the entire lake. This made it difficult to try and swim.

Cabin and views were beautiful! Hot tub was great after a long day. The kayaks were nice to use but please note that you get one adult and one child size kayak with your cabin. The cabin next door is owned by the same people so we borrowed their adult sized kayak. It ended up working out but some clarification on sizes in the description would be nice. :) We made a few fun day trips to the Paducah mall, the river walk & down town area, land between the lakes, and atomic city. I do recommend bringing a mattress topper if you do not like firm beds.

Clean and cozy

We had a wonderful time mostly. The house had all the kitchen items we needed. The bathroom was stocked with tp and towels. Plenty of blankets and pillows. There was severe weather. So, both mornings we woke up with no power. But, when there was power, the WiFi worked great and the hot tub was so relaxing. We took advantage of fishing in between the storms. Wish the weather wouldโ€™ve been better, but not much the owners can do about that. I would definitely recommend this place to friends and family for a couples retreat or even a family with a couple younger kids.

Relaxing Getaway

We loved our time in this cottage. It was a getaway for our anniversary and it was the first time without any kids in about 8 years.. This property met all expectations and even exceeded some The cottage was clean and equipped with everything we needed for our stay. The mist rising over the lake in the mornings was absolutely beautiful. We enjoyed the kayaks, fishing, the hot tub and the quiet of the lake. I would highly recommend this accommodation. The property was clean and communication was good for anything we needed. The dirt road in and out might be a little rough for some people but I'm an old country boy and I expect that in any place with this kind of privacy. The drive to Paducah Kentucky could be done in less than 30 minutes. You can also hit the town of metropolis Illinois in about 20 minutes. Both of these sounds have access to some good local shopping and restaurants. We enjoyed the national quilt museum, the Superman museum and local restaurants. Overall we encountered 20 different species of wildlife. We enjoyed watching the turtles pop up all over the lake and hearing the frogs and crickets at night. We were able to lay on the dock and watch the stars. We even saw some shooting stars.

Beautiful place

We enjoyed our stay here very much. The cabin was perfect for the two of us and exactly the relaxing, peaceful getaway trip we were looking for. The last couple of miles back to the lake are a gravel road and quite rough so I wouldn't recommend driving a low profile vehicle on it but other than that, the cabin itself is very nice and stocked with everything you could possibly need. Check in and check out was extremely smooth and the owner was very accommodating when I asked to add an extra day to the booking. Highly recommend this place.

This is a lovely lakeside cabin with a glorious porch overlooking a small lake. It was impeccably clean and welcoming with its guest book and hot tub. There was an eclectic collection of DVDs available to watch. The only glitch was that on our third and final night, a big security light was turned on nearby and spewed light onto our porch and into the house all night. Except for that light, it was an incredibly relaxing getaway.
