'Expedia does not tell you they don’t answer phone calls from foreign numbers & they have no front desk/ staff on site so only way to communicate is thru Expedia. I couldn’t get continental breakfast because Expedia blocks emails & they couldn’t send me payment link. No food or beverage available on site or within walking distance. Food delivery was lame, cash only & no utensils. Decent shower, bed & wifi'

'This is a very good hotel , and the best value for money on the island. It is quite clearly an old hotel but very well looked after. The one down point for me would be the attention to detail with the cleaning of the rooms. The shower tray had hairs in it, the teaspoons and mugs were not clean. The carpet had quite a few "suspect" stains. Would definitely stay here again, but covered everything we needed to do on the island so probably wont be back for that reason. The breakfast was great.'

'Castle at the lake, that's all, really. But it was ok, as we only went there to sleep. Good bar, friendly personnel. The maintenance of the room could have been better and the bed more comfortable.'

'Small scale Bed & Breakfast overlooking Tarbert harbor. Nice rooms, with a smallish but complete bathroom. Alistair, our host, cooked us a lovely breakfast. Excellent starting or finish point for the boat trip to/from Islay.'

'Geen echt hotel meer, nu een B&B, waar ze wel hun best doen, doch al een beetje gedateerd is. Zeer vriendelijke mensen, ontbijt lekker en voldoende ( continentaal ), wij hadden kamer 2, die wat klein is, zeker de badkamer '
