the hotel is desiring
Well, first of all, a desiring hotel looks like a little neglected room in ruins, the only thing you can see is the pool because the area is a bit neglected in essence, a very poor quality hotel. In the photos where it is shown, there are photos of another hotel not of that one.

This hotel has bad service the manager manu don't care of her customer the frist she did she changed my apt to a other location 1 month my due to go then she text me 5 day before I got there and said that the apartment it was to be split in 2 diff apartment doing my stay i booked a 18 day apartment that was not good from a first floor apartment to a 3 floor apartment for me and my husband that are senior citizens because of our age thats was very uncomfortable the floor apt was ok but not great condition and to change us to3 floor apartment i was very upset with bad air conditions no cable channels on the TV's the master room no air conditioning i want my money back and she didn't want to give back and thats was the other apt location and for the hummingbird apartment its worst condition its dirty and its smell bad the room mosquito : roaches : very bad they only show in your page hotel. Com beautiful picture but its very dirty need fixing and lots of cleaning and maintenance and the manager manu she has no respect for the client they just want the money and give executive to their customers

Unfortunately we had to make a very bad experience with this client. They booked an apartment at Hummingbird. There was the only mistake that happened from our side. It was a double booking. We offered the client accommodation at a different location. A huge upgrade. Much better amenities then what they booked and paid for. They acceted the relocation. Although they didn‘t have to. There was plenty of time for them to find something else if they wanted to. And in fact, they absolutely loved the first apartment they stayed in. Though, we got complaints from other residents about them. One requested that they would be asked to leave. I argued for them so they could stay. But again, no appreciation from their side. Then, when it was time to switch apartments, they started becoming even worse. They refused to switch apartments. Although we agreed on that before their arrival. They reasoned that they didn‘t want to walk stairs. Though the apartment they booked originaly, would have been upstairs as well. When they finaly moved (not carrying one bag themselves), they made a big scene as there was no puero rican tv channel on te TV. When their original apartment would not even have had a TV at all! The apartment was not dirty. Everything was working properly. They were unappreciative, big lack of respect for anyone around them, and more that I am not going to mention now. We also knew that this review was coming, as they were trying to blackmail us with it to force us letting them stay in the other apartment. Which we would have done with pleasure, without forcing, if it would have been possible. But this apartment was booked by other people. And Brenda had agreed to move on the date necessary, before they even arrived to DR. Never, never, never again will I accept these people at any of my accommodations again,

Hummingbird- budget hotel in Cabarete
This is simple and cheap hotel in a good location in Cabarete. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Check-in is quick and easy. Room is spacious. The AC keeps the mosquitos out. The room was well-cleaned, but we did see a few pests outside. Less than 5 minute walk to a nice beach access. Wifi speed was decent. A good choice if you are on a budget.

Disaster! We couldn't even pay for the room!
We booked through Hotels.com...but the hotel didn't accept credit cards...the pictures are very strategic as the hotel doesn't look at all as they do. It looks like an old hostel that hasn't got any maintenance for ages. The hotel reception was like the laundry room with toilet paper all over the place...JUST DON'T GO THERE! There are plenty of places in Cabarete where you can stay for that price.

Comfortable on a budget
The manager was very kind and accepted at no extra charge to let me change my reservation to arrive a day earlier. The room was spacious, the AC working, the pool clean and the internet fast. It was about 10 mbps download and 1 mbps upload. I had no issues using it for my videoconferences 6-9am but it was slower during the day. The staff was friendly too and even helped me to call a motorbike taxi. The kitchenette had the bare minimum and no soaps were provided in the bathroom so come prepared. I liked that a mini fridge was included. The hotel is located in a dead end road, not so far from the main road so I wouldnt suggest walking there alone at night. In summary, I liked my stay there and would definitely recommend it, especially for the price you'll be paying and there are many cool restaurants around like Vagamundo and Fresh Fresh.

Terrible,do not go there ! The manager Manu has no clue , totally unprofessional. They charge me with extra fee then want to cancell and then refuse to refund me .

This is a lie. This comment is from a guy that has a ban from our hotel for mistreating our personal, refusing to pay and trying to blackmail us in the past.

No lo llamaria hotel , es un lugar donde rentan habitaciones , no nada disponible , ni comodidad, muchos menos facilidades , la playa esta muy lejos caminando 15 mins y la piscina es muy pequeña.

Payment confusion
I arrived with a statement from Expedia showing I had prepaid with no balance owing. At check in we spent 10 minutes while the staff tried to phone the manager to clarify. I was allowed to check in but the next morning I was told they needed payment in full, on site. I reluctantly paid. The matter is still to be resolved with Expedia .

Thank you for your Review. We are very sorry for your negative experience. I also tried to explain the matter to you and told you that you could contact the Expedia costumer service and they would confirm to you that they did not collect any payment from you for this booking. Of course we understand your frustration, but it is also a bit invoncienent for us and Little understanding from you to give us as the Hotel a negative Review for this. As I explained to you, this is a negative experience caused by Expedia, which we as the Hotel had absolutely no possibility to avoid unless we would have let you stay at our Hotel for free. Expedia NEVER charges the client for us. We tried to get Expedia to contact you from their side as you yourself did not want to contact them. But the failed to do so as it seems. They have confirmed to us again by writing that they did not charge you, that the option was Hotel collect. Also if you would check your creditcard bill, you would see that you have not been charged before Arrival. Your words were, that it was inconvenient for you to check your creditcard bill when you're abroad. But in the mean time you are back home and could have done so instead of blaming us and giving us a bad Review. But it is as it is, and again, we're sorry for your negative experience. We tried to make it as Little unconvenient for you as possible. But the Problem was not coming from our side. Thank you.

Buono se non fosse per...
Complessivamente il soggiorno è stato buono, se non fosse per il fatto che il penultimo giorno la signora delle pulizie ha risposto in malo modo quando abbiamo chiesto di fare le pulizie della stanza, "non vi hanno già pulito la stanza ieri?!" E al nostro ritorno purtroppo abbiamo trovato una stanza pulita in malo modo, bicchieri ancora sopra il tavolo, asciugamani non cambiati e il letto fatto come solo un bimbo di 4 anni o una persona totalmente svogliata può fare. La posizione è buona, l'unico problema è la strada, che dopo un giorno di pioggia si è trasformata praticamente in un fiume, ma per fortuna sono solo pochi metri. Impraticabile a piedi, ma fuori dalla porta c'erano sempre dei motoconcho sempre pronti a portarti dove vuoi. Per il resto comunque tutto bene, personale molto gentile e mi sento di consigliarlo, perché per questo prezzo non si può trovare di meglio anzi offrono anche troppo.

hotel isolé et caché par une enceinte murale
Je nai même pas voulu dormir une nuit là - bas : accueil désastreux par le garde de sécurité, aucune explication donnée sur le fonctionnement de l endroit à notre arrivée, on nous a juste remis la clé de notre chambre puis indiqué le montant à payer, lhotel est isolé dans un trou perdu et il faut passer dans un petit chemin de terre pour s'y rendre, et lhotel est complètement entouré pour ne pas dire barricadé par une enceinte murale, alors la visibilité du paysage est nul. franchement déçue, mon copain et moi avons trouvé un autre hotel le jour même. C'est pas cher, si on compare aux autres hotels, mais on a préféré payer un peu plus et être mieux situé.

We are very sorry that you were so disappointed by our hotel. But sometimes people do not completely understand that if an accommodation has such an unbeatable price and on top of that is clean, safe, in the center of Cabarete, only 5 minutes walking to the beach, has a big pool, AC in all rooms, each room has private bathroom and kitchen, and fast wifi on top - that it can not also be with 24h vip reception and with direct beach access. This is financialy just not do-able. But luckily 99% of people who book our property do understand this and are very happy to stay at the Hummingbird ;)

The hotel is located about a 15 minute from the main area of Cabarete. This part of town is not patrolled by the tourist police, so it's best to take a mototaxi after dark for 50 pesos. After 5pm they have an armed guard at the gate. The room I stayed in was large, clean, and reasonably modern. The services offered are somewhat basic; the room is not cleaned during your stay, towels and bed sheets are not changed, etc. They don't provide bathroom or dish soap, so make sure to bring your own. The air conditioning functioned very well and kept the room at a pleasant temperature. The pool and grounds are nice. There a good outdoor area for relaxing. There is a bar nearby that plays very loud music Thursday through Saturday. It can be heard in the room and can go quite late at night. I also found that some guests did not always obey the 10pm noise curfew. The owner, Manu, is very friendly and helpful if you have any questions or issues.

Hi Michael, Thank you for your feedback. Regarding your comment about the room cleaning: this isn't correct. If our guests wish, they can have daily room service and the towel and bedlinen changed. But our cleaning ladies do not enter your room without permission. There is a guest information in each room which tells the guests to advise us how often they want their room cleaned. This is an option that we choose because we want to provide as much privacy to our guests as possible and it's highly appreciated. We do not dictate when the rooms are cleaned. Our guests choose when they want to have it cleaned and how often. Hope this clears the situation. Thank you for staying with us!

Allt var mycket bra!
Super bra service, alla var jätte trevliga. Vi fick hjälp att boka en buss för att vi inte pratade spanska. Det fanns en nattvakt hela natten. Bra wifi. Och en underbar hotell hund som gick runt och var väldigt mysig. JÄTTE BRA för det priset, nöra till strand, restaurang och supermarket.
