The Dock House - Creek to Beach in 5 minuten

Genesteld in een parkachtige omgeving biedt The Dock House het beste van twee werelden. Rust, comfort en privacy na een dagje strand of een avondje uit in de stad. De achterkant van het pand heeft een afgeschermde veranda (maar insecten zijn zelden een probleem) die opent voor alle geluiden en bezienswaardigheden die een zoutwatermonding kan bieden. Hawks, Heron, Egrets, Osprey, Pelicans, Pipers, Turkey Vultures en Woodpeckers zijn dagelijkse bezoekers. Wild zoals herten, konijnen en eekhoorns komen regelmatig in het gebied voor. Zichtbaar vanaf het dok zijn vissen en schaaldieren tijdens de dagelijkse getijdenstroom. De zijtuin is groot genoeg om een Bocce-, Badmiton- of Croquet-spel aan te passen. Een barbecue in parkstijl bevindt zich bij de en twee hangmatten in de schaduw bij de monding om te ontspannen en tot rust te komen.
Een van 's werelds top 25 stranden (gestemd door National Geographic 2017 en Trip Advisor 2018) ligt hemelsbreed 3,2 km verderop. Parkeren op het strand is gratis bij de hoofdingang of terug richting de winkels. Betaald parkeren is ook mogelijk voor $ 8 per dag bij de pier. De vissteiger is in particulier bezit en vereist een vergoeding van $ 1 voor een wandeling en geschiedenis van het eiland of $ 9 per hengel om te vissen. Het strand is altijd een schoonheid. Heerlijk zonnebaden, zwemmen, fietsen, wandelen of hardlopen. Het zand is glad en hard verpakt waar water het raakt. 10 graden koeler op het strand. Een stevige bries kan af en toe op het strand terechtkomen, uw paraplu goed verankeren of een cabana huren. Zorg ervoor dat u ten minste één zonsopgang en zonsondergang vanaf de adembenemende vergezichten op het strand vangt. Sunset Beach Island verzamelt elke dag meer landmassa, een zeldzaamheid voor een eiland. Enkele van de beste tijden om te bezoeken zijn eind mei tot juni of september tot half oktober. Maar het is niet ongehoord om in januari 75 graden te raken. Controleer echter de watertemperatuur voor zwemplannen.
Calabash wordt aangekondigd als "The SeaFood Capital of the World" vanaf de jaren '40. Het gebied trekt meestal een goede menigte rond het avondeten. Verse garnalen is een van de bekendste van de streek. Veel geweldige consignatiewinkels in de stad en in de omgeving.

Very comfortable house in a beautiful location. Calabash is a great little town. Easy check in, house is clean and well stocked. I could spend all day sitting on the dock.

Nice, quiet, safe neighborhood never felt the need to lock our vehicle whole there. House was what we expected. Clean house, well kept lawn. Hosts made checkin very easy though we thought we were at wrong address when arrived because there was vehicle in garage so we had a laugh over that. Due to wind and low tide being middle of afternoon i didnt get to fish but the pier and screened in porch offered nice realaxing atmospheres.Overall we enjoyed our stay and would recommend it.

My parents live in Calabash. We stayed here so we could have some extra space for a family reunion. The house is a rare find in this area. Lovely yard right on the water. We really enjoyed the little dock sitting area. The kitchen is well stocked for cooking. Nice big, clean fridge, Stove and oven worked well. It was cold outside, and the heat worked well. The sun porch is nice. And the living room and kitchen sitting areas provide lots of places to spread out and relax. The neighborhood is nice and quiet. The checkin and checkout were easy. And the owner was very responsive though we did not experience any problems whatsoever. Really good find!

The outside of the property is set next to a beautiful little river, and is quite charming. However, on the inside the home smelled musty, and when we began to open cupboards and put away our food, we were greeted with huge cockroaches we constantly had to hide our food in plastic bags or the refrigerator, the same with dishes, so they were not ran upon by roaches, the bed linens in the master bedroom smelled of body odor. I informed the owner of my displeasure of renting out a roach infested smelly property. He told me I could leave and he would refund my money. The problem with that is I had no other place to stay on such short notice. I ended up buying laundry detergent and re-washing all the bedding because it reeked even with their detergent and tried to make the best of it. I cleaned up the place better than I found it re-washed all the dishes, and even left roach traps for the next guest. The owner was kind enough to reward me by charging me $45 for not putting the garbage by the curb. I wouldn’t stay here ever again. I was constantly concerned that I might carry roaches home to my own family home. Rent at your own risk.

We had everything we needed for our vacation. My son really enjoyed the fishing. He hooked several fish and an alligator. Many memories were made. A 10 minute drive the beautiful sunset beach was perfect. We hope to book here again if ever back in the area.

Oh my goodness we cannot say enough amazing things about this property!! The house was super cleans and so well stocked with necessities the backyard os beyond perfect. We fished every tide in and out and had a blast. The neighborhood is super quiet and we enjoyed all the natiure!! So many gorgeous birds and even raccoons we went on our belated honeymoon and are already planning another trip soon. Paul was very communitive and super kind!!

Nice brick ranch home in a very quiet older and established neighborhood. I was surprised at how little traffic and people I saw during the whole trip at the home. The yard is huge. Very private and quiet. Being on the creek and having the dock is perfect for relaxing and watching the wildlife. I caught a few fish and saw a bald eagle among tons of other birds and crabs. Very close to all of the Calabash seafood restaurants and shops. I’d also recommend Gravy Southern Eatery which is very close by. You’re also only 10 minutes away from Sunset Beach and 15 from OIB. Paul was easy to work with and provided updates on anything needed. Would have no problem staying in the home again.

Renting this house was such a great experience for me and my daughters, 12 and 14. The house and property are incredible. The best touch; the beach items and lawn games in the storage unit that Paul provides. We had so many positive experiences, nice surprises; great memories were made!

This was the cleanest, most well-stocked rental we've ever stayed in. Also the most accurately described. The house was spotless, and instead of mismatched, random, and often nonexistent cookware and kitchen ware, there were complete matching sets of everything, and plenty of pots and pans and other gadgetry. Plenty of towels, pillows, bedding, even shower gel and shampoo. Fishing was pretty good.....would have been better if not for the shortage of live shrimp bait in the area lol. The yard is beautiful, the dock is great, and the neighborhood was very quiet. We thoroughly enjoyed everything about this rental, thank you for sharing. We will be back!

Enjoyed sitting on the screened in porch watching the wildlife. We saw two alligators this trip. Caught a few fish out of the tidal creek. The big yard is excellent for kids to run and play in.

If you want a quite and nice place to stay this is the spot for you having the dock to go drink coffee on in the mornings is so relaxing having the big yard for the kids to play in is absolutely amazing it's a 5 min drive to sunset beach if you stay there go to Bennett's best cheese burger ever will be back for our next vacation

Absolutely Awesome Brick House just a very short drive from some terrific restaurants, gift shops, and of course, the Beach! Located in a safe and quiet neighborhood with a great scenic backyard view of nature and water! Really nice large yard with lots of room on a cozy private lot. The owner, Paul, does a fantastic job of quick response communication and genuinely cares that all of your questions are answered in a fast and timely manner. Would most definitely stay here again and hope to do so every summer going forward if our schedule permits. Cannot say enough good things about this well kept and clean property!
