'This is the the most wonderful place for an 'escape'. Miles from anywhere but in the middle of the most beautiful Devon countryside. The welcome was lovely, the room was superb - as was the breakfast - in all the perfect stay.The local pub in tremendous and do very nice food but you will need to drive, the walk back would be a challenge after a few.'

'Absolutely fabulous few days away. This is a real gem of a hotel. Quiet and secluded but a real joy to experience. The staff are so helpful and genuine (Rosie, Sharon and Oliver deserve medals) There was plenty of choice for breakfast, the cooked breakfast was tasty and well presented. The evening dinner menu and quality of food was 10/10. I think it could be even better with a slightly extended menu. We will be back x'

'I really like the people that run it ...you can have a laugh and a joke and their professional. I love the quirky old fashioned styling but it's done in a modern way. The menu seemed basic but the quality of the food was fantastic everybody should try the prawns starter !!! Two dislikes Coffee machine in room too small difficult to use. The noise of extractor fans outside the windows was a constant drone but okay if you're used to noise and not from the quiet countryside. I'm definitely going...

'We had a very pleasent stay at the hotel. When we arrived, they gave us an upgraded room with a beautifull balcony and view at the town and river. The room looked just renovated and had a beautifull design. Good and large bed, clean rooms. The restaurant was very good and personal very friendly.'

'A perfect hotel, as a base to explore the local area, or if on route to Cornwall. Certainly value for money, and would use again if I needed to. Though there are very little facilities in the local area (Walking Distance) for families, but ideal for somewhere to sleep after days out.'

'Lovey hotel. We went for an afternoon tea gift. Which was amazing. Everything baked in house. We made a weekend of it with an overnight stay. Staff very very friendly and nothing too Much trouble. Location is wonderful with a couple of good walks. Rooms very clean and homely. Food very very good. You really do feel spoilt. '

'All staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Especially the bar and restaurant staff. Karen was particularly efficient. The hotel was very well looked after and the rooms were spotless. I would highly recommend staying for easy access to the city centre.'
