Palo Duro April 2024
We spent two nights here after being in South Texas for the solar eclipse. It would have been the perfect place for viewing had it been in the line of totality! It was so quiet and beautiful sitting on the porch overlooking the canyon. The cabin is immaculate and well furnished and we would like to return and stay longer. It is the perfect place to be to hike in the canyon and relax on the porch afterwards!

The cabin has a great view of the canyon at the beginning of the park. The park is about 5 minutes away. If you are looking for a comfortable place extremely close to Palo duro canyon it's a great place to stay. Cabin is as advertised. Would stay there again if I am visiting the area.

Texas Get Away

Peaceful!
We spent 2 peaceful, wonderful days at the Durango cabin. Lindsay was very prompt with answering any questions. The property is beautifully maintained and unique. I would highly recommend Dove’s Rest!

It Was Great!
This cabin was just perfect! It had everything we needed, and the view into the canyon was awesome. We didn’t expect the sheep to be grazing outside our patio—what a treat! Would definitely recommend, and would stay here again!

Views are understated in pics on VRBO. Extremely close to Palo Duro SP. Outdoor appearance of grounds at cabin are beautiful. Concierge service was ideal! Only problem we had was bed seemed pretty hard for us so we decided to try the pull out and the cover (fitted sheet/mattress protector) was filthy with hair, stains, cheese and a dead spider. We did find clean bedding in a closet. Also one couch was pretty stained. Nothing that would keep us from coming back but something that can be a easy fix for management. I would absolutely recommend this resort.

Paradise in West Texas!!
Everthing was as advertised. Clean & full amenities, close to Park entrance. Private, but encouraged neighborly visits. I loved that the kitchen was completely ready to stock with groceries & cook at will. Canyon,Tx was a short drive to get groceries/supplies and some good restaurants. Views were amazing!! Checking in was a breeze.

The Greatest Getaway!
The most beautiful place we've ever been. We enjoyed sitting outside on the patio in very comfortable rocking chairs, sipping our coffee and watching the most beautiful sun rises. The cabin was perfect, very clean and large windows so that we could see the view while inside. This cabin was very clean, private, and quiet. The kitchen was stocked with all cooking utensils needed. We will definitely be back!!

Just what I was looking for
I wanted winter and minimal humans near by. Although there are other cabins on the property, each cabin is separated. I saw cars at the other cabins but did not see humans. I would imagine it could be different in warm weather? But with the cold and the wind, there was no porch activity. Which was great! The view across the canyon made you feel that you were alone with nature. Nature did pop by. The Aoudad sheep made regular visits. The grey fox and coyotes too. The first night, we had a massive thunder and lightening storm. This caused all the coyotes around to sing. It was truly a magical moment.

Palo Duro Getaway
The Durango cabin was perfect for our Palo Duro getaway. It was close to everything we wanted to do and best of all was dog friendly. The cabin was clean, well stocked, and cozy. It was cold while we were there and Garland made sure we had enough firewood to keep a great fire going in the fireplace. We would definitely stay there again.

Views of the canyon from the property and inside the cabin were spectacular! And the cabin itself was lovely and extremely comfortable. My partner commented, "I could live here!" She was referring to the cabin, and I agree. The 3 nights spent here were fantastic!

Beautiful Cabin & Grounds
The Durango cabin was perfect for our getaway to explore the area. Beautifully decorated, cozy, everything there that you may need & always a quick response from Host via email if I had a question. The outdoor space was spectacular as well. The sunrises over the canyon are the best and you can enjoy them from the giant windows that flank the back of the cabin. Well done you all! We will come back!

Wonderful Experience - Everything you could ask for
The cabins are top notch all the way around. Beautiful views, fully equipped kitchen (everything for a Thanksgiving dinner), and minutes to the park...like 3 minutes. The grounds are clean, everyone was respectful and the host was very responsive. We would definitely stay at one of these cabins again. Really nice places and we had a fantastic time.

Great location with amazing views.
This was a great cabin in a great location. The views off the back patio were amazing. Seeing the sunrise over the canyon in the morning was breathtaking. Be aware that GPS was not accurate for some reason Waze did not have the road listed to turn on. Very easy to get to just look at the map provided by Dove Rest.

The view is stunning, it's quiet, and I saw a heard of mountain goats and used the binoculars provided. A baby coyote even crossed the back porch while I was inside. It's very close to the state park.

We stayed in the Durango. The cabin was perfection. Impeccably clean, decorated beautifully, the attention to small details was perfect! The bedroom was huge and bed soooo comfy with a huge window view of canyon. The kitchen was totally stocked. Living room was beautiful with huge window overlooking the canyon. Yard was private with beautiful view of canyon sunrise!!! Totally recommend and will return.

My husband and I stayed here for a few days over the 4th of July. It was very clean and quiet with gorgeous views from the bedroom and living room. We could easily get to dining and shops in the town of Canyon but also explored Amarillo along with Route 66. The entrance to Palo Duro Canyon is just down the road for hiking. We look forward to future visits!

Loved our stay!!
We loved our stay at Doves Rest! We had the Durango cabin, which was totally immaculate when we arrived and had pretty much everything we could need. The views were lovely and so peaceful. The property was very quiet (except for some rowdy guests in the cabin over on our last night, but that can’t be helped) and well maintained. Would definitely rent another cabin at Doves Rest and stay again! Also, aside from actually staying IN the park you can’t get any closer to Palo Duro. Highly recommend!

Palo Duro Canyon/Caprock Canyon Trip
We loved our stay in the Durango cabin so much that we extended our stay by one night! We had to move to the Phantom #1 cabin for the last night because our Durango cabin was booked for the extra night. It was worth the move to stay the extra night! The views of the canyon, the wildlife, and the stars from the back porch are amazing! The cabins are a very short drive to the entrance of Palo Duro Canyon State Park! We hope to come back soon!
