Lots of B&B type atmosphere in the property, spacious to hang out, great location near the village with restaurants a short walk. 3rd bedroom is only reachable through the second bedroom. Great yard and accommodation for our dog. Host is great. Significant trek to the beach.

Very pleasant stay at this charming cottage in a quiet neighborhood and within very comfortable walking distance to all Carlsbad has to offer. Host will go out of her way to ensure your comfort and convenience. There are 3 full size bedrooms; however, one is a walkthru, which was fine for our family, but might not work as well for singles or couples. Lots of very pleasant outdoor space as well.

The Perfect Beach Getaway
This property was definitely one of my favorites and we have rented "beach properties" for many years. The home was clean, the yard was gorgeous, the parking was great and the host was helpful. Carlsbad is awesome... we enjoyed the short walking distance to restaurants, shopping and the beach. We will be back.

A Great Getaway!
We rented the cottage for a month. Our daughter, son-in-law and their almost 2 year old joined us for 10 days. There was plenty of room for all of us and our dog (who loved the front yard). The cottage was clean, well stocked and the beds are comfy; one of the best features is that it is easily walkable to the shops and restaurants in Carlsbad Village which we did several times a day. The hosts, Deanna and Craig are awesome. They were very responsive to all of our questions and had many great suggestions; we cannot say enough good things about them. We would return in a heartbeat.

Delightful Coastal Cottage
We enjoyed a relaxing 2 weeks at the lovely cottage. It’s in a great location, easy walk to the village, a small park nearby and the closest beach is just great. The house was very well equipped, decorated in a comfortable beach style and the gardens are beautiful. Deanna quickly responded to any questions. We were very pleased!

Was a very nice home. Took our 2 small dogs. Front yard was the only place they were allowed to go. Fence was not very good for small dogs. Two bigger dogs were on the property in the rear yard. Otherwise beautiful grounds.

To clarify Coastal Cottage has exclusive use of fully fenced front yard, side yard and shared access to backyard where the bikes and beach gear are stored. If rear guest shared otherwise I apologize. It’s in all our property details. The other guest with 2 Aussies was in our Hideaway that has its own private courtyard patio that is also fenced.

Charming vintage cottage
The house, with 3 bedrooms, is 1930s cottage with updated amenities (central air, kitchen/bathooms). The kitchen is well stocked, beyond your typical rental. The beds are very comfortable with quality linens/comforters. Smart TV in living room and another TV in back sitting room, off 3rd bedroom. That bedroom has its own bathroom and additional separate entrance, via fenced side yard, which was great for letting the dog out at night. Well landscaped yard and outdoor seating. The property does sit on a corner that can be busy at times. Caution crossing street is in order as it as a blind corner, without a cross walk or sidewalk and, sadly, folks are driving way too fast these days. The location is great for access to Carlsbad Village and all it offers. A popular local coffee shop and pizza restaurant are directly across street and many other excellent restaurants only a 5 minute walk. Accessing the closest beach on foot is somewhat indirect, ~12-15 minutes for adults, add 5-10 minutes with kids. Involves crossing busy Carlsbad Blvd. Deanna, the host, was welcoming and communicated effectively and promptly. The welcome basket with treats was a lovely touch.

Family friendly close to everything!
My family and I are from N California and we went down south to attend graduations at UC Irvine and UC San Diego. This property was the perfect home base in between the two locations. We brought our two dogs and there was a designated potty area in the backyard. My family walked to the beach and to the great restaurants and stores a couple of blocks away! There was a nature trail also a half block away. The house was historic (1922) and updated with all amenities. We loved the beautiful yard and relaxed each day with the coastal breeze. Everyone in my family loved the property! I will forever have fond memories of this trip! Deanna was an excellent host❤️

Great spot!
The Coastal Cottage was everything we could have wanted in a long stay out of the cold of the Midwest. The property is nicely decorated and felt like a home. The location was close to the beach and close to Carlsbad's business district. We walked to the local restaurants almost every day. The owners were very responsive. We would stay here again!

Our host Deanna was wonderful. She put so much thought into making sure her guests had everything they needed from a fully stocked kitchen with all the cooking utensils you could ever need and lovely dishes and glassware. The beds were comfortable as was the bedding There was a gift basket waiting for us with chocolate, sparkling wine and spa like bath products the yard was beautiful and well lit so we could enjoy the outdoor space well into the evening.

Lovely Stay
The cottage was just lovely for our family who stayed there while attending a wedding at the nearby Park Hyatt Aviara. The kitchen was well stocked, the bikes, beach gear and wagon so nice for afternoons at the beach and exploring Carlsbad. Deanna was great to communicate with. The front and side yards were super hangout and eating places as we had such perfect weather. Very charming and well taken care of.

Just a couple of suggestions for improved guest comfort: 1. too many kitchen and bathroom shelves were already filled with "cute" items or excess duplicated non-essential dishes and bowls and in kitchen storage closets to leave room for guest convenience needs. 2. It should NOT be a requirement for guest to move the green trash container to the street. Totally hazardous or impossible for elderly guests on the sloping driveway. 3. a bedroom chair or seat for putting on clothing and shoes would be very helpful fpr senior guests.

Thank you for your suggestions. We do have empty shelves in both bathroom cabinets as well as the walk in pantry. Even the master lounge kitchenette had empty shelves. There is a chair in both front bedroom suites for the convenience of guests. The master suite is the exception as the guest armoire and side tables fill the wall space. The adjoining lounge does have the red leather sofa but I can appreciate it isn’t within the master bedroom. Pulling the trash bins hasn’t come up before in 5 years so we appreciate you sharing this with us. We enjoyed hosting you! If you decide to return in the future we’re happy to make special arrangements for rolling bins to street.

What a beautiful place!
My mother and I loved staying at this property. The house was impeccably clean, beds were extremely comfortable, and the place was decorated with true artistic vintage pieces that were perfectly placed throughout the house and filled the space beautifully. The pantry was stocked remarkably with everything we needed plus extra goodies we were not expecting. The cookies we received when we checked in were the best I ever had. There was a Keurig machine with Starbucks pods which was extremely convenient. The stove is vintage, just know that you need a little bit of elbow grease to get it started. This did not bother us at all, it is such a charming piece! We found that the stove was actually much better quality in the way it cooked the food then what is on the modern market nowadays. Deanna, her daughter and her husband were very kind and responsive. The beach is just a short walk away. The peace and quiet at night were unbeatable. The best feature of this house for us was the private lush front garden. It was very well-maintained, beautiful, and large. We initially wanted to bring our puppy with us, but it didn’t work out, so mom and I enjoyed it quite a bit and had the opportunity to share the space with another family who had a small child and a dog. I highly recommend this place!!!!!

Nice cozy house
The home is great ! Very charming house with the White picket fence. Beds are comfy, the kitchen is great . It’s a couple of blocks to downtown village. The bikes make it super close. Super nice owners. The corner the house sits on is pretty busy all day and most of the evening. Dog friendly house which is great ! Walking to the beach was not feasible for us but the bikes again make it close . Over all it’s a nice place to stay at a good price.

Quiet. Quaint. Coastal.
This is our second stay at the coastal cottage! We loved it so much the first time, we couldn’t wait to return. The location is perfect. We didn’t drive anywhere once we parked! Plenty of places to eat and shop nearby. We brought our three small kids who were satisfied inside with access to WiFi and also enjoyed turning cartwheels and playing cards on the outdoor patio. Our dogs especially loved the big grassy front yard and long walks on the beach! We can’t wait to come back!

This property was exactly as advertised. The house was perfectly decorated, cozy, and comfortable. Close walk to the village and 10 minutes to the beach. If you want a vacation where you can walk to great restaurants and leave your car at the house, this is the place for you. Air conditioning a major plus in summer and king bed most comfortable. Kitchen well stocked with everything for eating at home but we ate out every night. Owners very hands on and ready to please. Well managed property. Would return in a heartbeat. If you want quiet...you won't be happy. Find a place away from the village. This was perfect for us.

Loved it ! So much better than a hotel!
This was my first time using anything like this. I was so pleasantly surprised. The cottage was neat and clean and the beds and bedding were very comfortable. There were bicycles we enjoyed riding every morning. There were chairs and boards for the beach. A driveway to park in. The kitchen is well stocked with high end cutlery and cookware, which made cooking meals enjoyable. The owner is super responsive, helpful, and just plain nice. This was, without exaggeration, the best vacation my family had ever been on. And I attribute it, in no small part, to this home. If you’re thinking of choosing this place, do not hesitate.

Sweet house with lovely beach decor. Responsive hosts and lots of extras included (beach towels, wagon, toys, bikes, etc.). Very clean and plenty of room. The A/C units in each room (it's not central air) drown out any street/train noise, so that wasn't an issue. Sharing laundry with the unit next door proved an interesting challenge, but we made it work. Fairly short walk to the village. Great proximity to Legoland.

Ideal location and quaint accommodations
My husband and I recently stayed here for a week with our 2 young girls, as well as our dog. The cottage was a very nice and open concept floor plan we never felt cramped considering we did not have access to the third bedroom called the lock off which is an option. Maybe it's included now but when we booked it was a separate fee. Anyway disclosure- this property is situated on a busy street corner, but the traffic was not bad nor bother us. We also love the fact it's located so close to train station as it's a short walk to take and ride into San Diego. We reserved this place to be beach bums for a week and we wanted to be close enough to walk, which is exactly what we did. The home was supplied with ALL necessary beach supplies umbrellas, chairs etc. even bikes and a wagon. The walk for us took a good 10-15 min but it wasn't bad, you get to pass by shops, restaurants along the way, and this is practically in the heart of the village- awesome. My husband is a runner and he loved running the coast dr to Oceanside each day. The neat thing is this property is almost on the boarder of Carlsbad/Oceanside so you can enjoy a long walk or quick drive to the Oceanside restaurant scene/shops. The cottage was clean (I'm very picky on cleanliness), comfortable and spacious. Kitchen is stocked, and has enough elbow room to really cook a feast. The minor negative thing was the bathroom sink had a plumb drain issue not allowing it to drain properly, but we were able to work it out. I would recommend this be addressed. We would definitely stay here again, and recommend this place. Thanks for a great vacation, Deanna.

The 3/2 (new in 2017) is VRBO 478089 is only booked as a 3/2 now. We quote and book what we offer. I'm sorry to hear the drain was running slow. A Seaside Cottage Straight Out of My Dreams
Deanna has mastered the art of gracious innkeeping. She does not hover, and she allows her guests to privately enjoy the peaceful bliss of the atmosphere she has skillfully created. You will feel wrapped in warm, caring comfort because she thoughtfully provides everything you could ever need during your stay. This is not to say she is absent, because she cheerfully and immediately answered all the questions I asked. I could sense she is someone with a giving, kind heart who wants to share this special place so others may also enjoy its enchantment. I spent 10 wonderful days here and loved every second. Just imagine the most perfect cottage by the sea, then open your eyes, and open the door to walk into that perfect dream. The colors, the decor, the incredible garden, the serenity....it's straight out of a storybook. Every corner of every room is picture worthy. Simple luxury abounds. It looks like a magazine spread, yet it feels just like home. After a few days I had to keep reminding myself that I was just a very lucky guest and not the permanent resident. That's how "at home" I felt! If you are fortunate enough to score dates on the schedule, then grab them. If your aim is to amble about enjoying the best that Carlsbad Village has to offer, then you won't be disappointed. It is close walking distance to everything there....the dining, the shops, the sights, and of course, the beautiful sea shore. There are terrific bikes in the garage just ready and waiting to take you on an up-close-and-personal tour of the village. If you want to play in the water and sand, there are beach toys and beach towels. The outdoor shower on the back patio is great to refresh sandy feet and salty hair. You'll never want to leave! I know I didn't, and I can't wait to return. Thank you, Deanna, for every thoughtful thing!

Beautiful garden!
The house was just as described. Beautiful and clean. Deanna was very helpful and checked in on us before and upon our arrival. The garage is fully stocked with all kinds of beach toys for kids! We brought our own bikes but if we knew how nice the bikes they provided were we definitely wouldn't have. The house was clean, bathrooms updated and the garden was a great place for us to hang out with our little dogs. Walking distance from all the restaurants but if you want to cook we highly recommend the Smart and Final for great prices on groceries. Costco was also a 10 min drive. We have already told friends about this house and highly recommend it.
