Perfect off-island spot for Dauphin trip
The house was very clean and provided everything we needed for a weeks stay. The location was perfect - less expensive than staying right on Dauphin Island but about as close as you can get with a Dollar General right down the road for last minute needs. The ping pong table was an added bonus for the kids. Would definitely stay here again! Very private.

I loved being able to watch the sunsets on the back screened in porch, and the sunrises on the front porch with a cup of coffee. The property is beautiful and so is the house. Definitely a great place to unwind and disconnect. And only being 10 to 15 mins away from the island, theres so much to do. My family had a great stay, and are already looking to book again.

AMAZING
We loved everything about our stay! From fishing off the dock, swinging in the swing, relaxing in the home, to sitting on the balcony watching it rain. It was nothing short of perfect! Such a peaceful atmosphere, we will definitely be visiting again!!

Never stayed here at all! Showed up 1st day disgusting. Nasty dirty no furniture at house is same as pics on listing! Mold mildew stains and bugs Location! Location is in middle of nowhere! Can't get Host to refund your money! Good luck with VRBO lol you be on phone on hold for hours to get hung up on!

The house was clean when guests arrived, just as described. Complaints were certainly unwarranted. Guests could have canceled for a partial refund, although, against the policy as noted on booking rules. Since they refused to cancel, there is no refund.

Wonderful stay in a lovely home with exceptional surroundings! Nature Galore! Loved fishing off the dock at night. Short drive to beautiful beaches. Nice to spend the day at the beach then coming home to our secluded retreat, Fantastic property owners!

Short Family Getaway
We fell in love with this property! It was clean and spacious! The kitchen was stocked with dishes and seasoning and there was sooo much yard for our kids to run and play! The screened in patios were icing on the cake! Ms Patricia was an awesome host and we will definitely return for another stay!

This was our second time here. We enjoy the peace and quiet. The area is beautiful. The birds, the trees, the fire flies! Kitchen is good size, 3 beds, 3 baths. Screened in porch off LR and downstairs play room. Convenient to Dauphin Island, Bayou La Batre.

Loved staying here. The house was just as pictured and clean. Everything worked, beds were comfortable, and loved the view. Kitchen had everything we needed. Nice and private place and still close to the beach. Even caught some fish from the river.

Wonderful getaway!!
This was such a fantastic secluded place to enjoy the beauty of Coastal Alabama. Our kids loved exploring the property, watching the herons and pelicans, fishing from the dock, kayaking and swinging from the rope swing. The house was amazing, plenty of room to spread out, and all the amenities for an enjoyable, relaxing time away. We would recommend this place to anyone and everyone. Patricia is a wonderful, sweet, caring host; couldn't have asked for a better place!

Absolutely amazing
We had the best time at this beautiful property over Christmas! The house is a dream and beautifully decorated and very clean. We loved fishing off of the dock, kayaking the river, going for walks, and taking quick trips to Dauphin Island during the day. The hosts were exceptional and truly wonderful people. We will definitely be back! This place is a hidden gem.

Comfortable, relaxing and quiet.
The property was excellent, very comfortable and fishing on the fowl river was awesome, use shrimp and fish the channel. We caught our share of Redfish, catfish, brim, and a few trout. Close enough to Dauphin Island to enjoy it and far enough away to relax from it. Quiet property will stay again.

The house is amazing. Location was perfect. We didn't want to be in a crowded spot. It was 15 minutes to the beach. Make sure to walk to the doc at night my kids caught a ton of baby crabs.

The house is beautiful. Though we weren't there very many days we made a trip to Dauphin Island and Bellengrath Gardens and spent an afternoon enjoying the back porch. Would definitely return.

Just what the doctor ordered, especially if you need to get away from it all. Quiet, peaceful home surrounded by nature. The best and most gracious owners you could have. Great seafood from the Zirlott’s within walking distance. You have to try it!!

Perfect
If you are looking for a private, maintained haven close to the beach, the Zirlott’s River House is perfect. My family and I had an amazing time, and you cannot ask for better hosts. Also, how lucky can you be that their seafood store is right next door? I highly recommend this location, and we will definitely be back!

Quiet and convenient short trip to the beach
Property is quiet, secluded but only a few minutes from the beach. Lovely dock with lots of outdoor space. Inside is open and plenty of room. It’s a beautiful house and property . We enjoyed our trip and we glad we stayed here instead of the island. By the way, the Zirlottes have a seafood store close, try it, you will be glad you did. Our best meal by far was the one we cooked at the house using the freshest seafood. Bring a cooler! You’re going to want to pack it with crab and royal reds to take home.

River House
What a stunning location! We loved the peace and solitude of the location. Beautiful sunsets viewed from the back porch…adequate bedroom and bathroom space…extras of items we might have left at home (plastic utensils, paper towels, spices). Patricia was a dream to work with. It was so easy to access and to travel to other sites such as Dauphin Island and Gulf Shores. We truly felt and home and we will return.

Nice stay Mothers Day Weekend
Overall, we had a nice stay. The property was spacious and the layout was nice for socializing. Open kitchen with a beauty of view of the outdoors. The only thing that I would suggest for the owners is to put some money into the repairs of the house. The kitchen faucet was a little broken and so was the front door knob. Also, the Stove numbers to indicate how hot the stove top gets were erased. All in all, the owner was wonderful and we bought the yummiest shrimp from the seafood market next door. I highly recommend going nextdoor to their seafood market. My favorite part of the house was the patio outside, sunsets were gorgeous every night!

Family holiday close to Dauphin Island, AL
We spent a wonderful week in the River Cottage. Very relaxing environment and Dauphin Island is a hidden gem. The children loved playing on the clean beaches. We took the ferry to Orange Beach and visited the botanical garden nearby. Definitely recommend this location and accommodation. Patricia was a very responsive host. Check in process was very easy.

Everything was very nice, the house was in overall very good shape and clean. We had a couple of issues With some screen panels missing on the back porch and the microwave not fully functioning but overall it was a great place to stay.

Wonderful house with wonderful hosts
This house was great, and the hosts were wonderful. The house is very well appointed and really nice. The layout is fantastic, with each bedroom/bathroom in a corner of the house so they give some privacy, while the living room and kitchen a all open and connected. The back patio is screened in, and great for having dinner while watching the sunset. We got delicious seafood next door at Zirlotts seafood each day, be sure to go get some. The property is really pretty and in a nice secluded location. Walk out to the dock for another great view, and bring a pole for some fishing. There is also a dollar general a few minutes down the road if your forgot or need anything. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

Amazing experience!
We had a wonderful time...fishing off the dock, saw a manatee in the river (a highlight of the trip), boiled crabs freshly caught, relaxed on the screened in porch, cooked a lot of seafood (delicious shrimp from Zirlott’s next door), day trips to the beach, enjoyed the beautiful views from the home. The owners were so nice! We will definitely be back!

Sweet 16 trip!
3 moms decided to take our 4 daughters for a quick beach getaway to celebrate one of our girl’s 16th birthday. Let’s be honest, the moms just needed an excuse to go to the beach. The house was perfect and the location was great. With all the corona concerns, it was really nice feeling secluded in the woods, but only a short drive to a quiet beach.

LOVED this home and the location!
Such a beautiful home and property. We loved this home and the peaceful location.
