Blu Shutter Beach House - Beste locatie voor een vakantie!

Het Blu Shutter Beach House ligt schilderachtig op een heuvel, de herfstkleuren zijn spectaculair met Lake Michigan en het strand aan de overkant van de straat. Lees onze beoordelingen voor ons eerste jaar, we zijn zo enthousiast over de reactie van onze gasten! Locatie, is dit huis de beste eigenschap. St. Joseph, gelegen 8 mijl verderop in de straat waar het huis ligt, is een rit van 10 $ Uber naar het centrum van St. Joe. Met al zijn winkels, restaurants, stranden en de Jack Nicklaus Signature-golfbaan. Tien minuten verderop in de straat ligt het prachtige South Haven. Als je 30 minuten verder noordwaarts gaat, Holland, met zijn wereldberoemde tulpenfestival in mei. Gelegen in het midden van verschillende wijnhuizen, brouwerijen en fruitboerderijen. Als lady luck bij je is, rijd dan het binnenland in naar het nabijgelegen Four Winds Casino in Dowagiac. De sensatiezoekers zullen dol zijn op Michigan's Adventure, het grootste amusements- en buitenwaterpark van Michigan. Het huis heeft 3 slaapkamers comfortabel slapen 10. Twee badkamers met een open plattegrond en een grote eetkeuken. Beide badkamers zijn volledig nieuw. De badkamer beneden heeft een inloopdouche, voor gemakkelijke toegang. De bovenverdieping met een bubbelbad om te ontspannen na een drukke dag winkelen en plezier hebben op het strand. Spelkamer met familie leuke bordspellen, samen met een aantal leuke voor volwassenen ook. Geweldige plek om je vakantie door te brengen.

Clean room and helpful host. One thing to note is that I had no cell reception, so it was challenging to communicate and receive check in code for the front door. Luckily, the owner texted me and it came through, but even on the house wifi I wasn't having much luck accessing the VRBO website. We enjoyed our stay and had what we needed.

Location, location, location

The house was in a great location for beaches, wineries, shopping, and more. There is a nice small beach right across the road from the property. However, the stairs down to the beach are pretty steep so the trip up was rough. But great for not having to commit to staying all day at the beach. The highway that runs next to the property is very busy and there was some road noise. The home has window units but no central air. The house stayed nice and cool though. The water does have a sulfur smell, but the owner provided a water dispenser for drinking. We loved all the board games, kitchen supplies, and beach stuff (chairs, noodles, etc.). It made it more like home. The owner was very responsive and kind. Would recommend!

Perfect beach access

The location is amazing for anyone wanting to spend all their time at the beach; its literally right across the road with less than a 5 minute walk to put your toes in the sand. The house was perfect for our group with plenty of beds, bathrooms, and space for 5 adults and two kids. I know the water was a concern for several past renters, but for anyone who is familiar with well water, the house is perfectly normal and the addition of a jug water dispenser in the kitchen is a major plus. Diana, the owner is really easy to work with and perfectly reasonable in her requests/house rules.

We came for four days to enjoy the beach and shopping. The location was quiet and peaceful with a beach right across the road. Also close enough to nearby towns. Dianna was so responsive as the host and always answered us right away. The house was so clean. Plenty of space and items for us to use.

What a find! We were staying for a girls weekend in South Haven but wanted to stay close to the beach. Dianna had everything we needed for a great stay. She was very communicative when we had questions and was so thoughtful! My personal favorite feature was the screened in porch, perfect spot for your morning coffee. Whether you are going on a girls trip or family vacation, this is the place! We cannot wait to come back. P.S. if you are NEEDING cell service and have AT&T or Verizon, just plan ahead and use the WiFi. It was refreshing not to have service 24/7, but again, there is WiFi!!

Family Fun

Dianna is so hospitable. House is so close to a public beach & park. Lots of stairs to the beach so a level of fitness is needed. Beach was nice & not crowded with a diverse crowd. House was baby friendly & there was something for everyone.

First Family Vacation 2025

We had 10 family members and everyone had a bed to sleep in and having two bathrooms was a must ! The Kitchen is nice size with everything you need to prepare food and cook. It was nice having an outside grill as well.Kyger park was nice for the kids and shaded, The Beach was perfect and it was not crowded , There were dogs but for the most part the owners were respectiful and picked up after them. The only down fall was the 90 plus stairsteps down to the beach after the park area.

Great stay within walking distance of a not crowded beach. Beds were very comfortable and house is well equipped. This is located on a rural highway which is kind of noisy when you are sitting on the deck, but it’s not noticeable inside the house. Use the water dispenser provided by the host as the tap water does have a sulfur smell. This is fairly secluded, and if you want to do things in town, you will have to drive, but that can be viewed as an asset rather than a detriment. The town of St. Joseph is close as is Coloma.

Great Lake Stay!

Dianna’s place was perfect for our Thursday-Sunday family visit! Hagar Park is directly across the road with a playground and quiet beach access. Close to wineries and St. Joseph/South Haven attractions. The kitchen was well-stocked, there were an abundance of games, beach accessories, and a lovely yard/deck area for relaxing. Beds were super comfortable and we had everything we needed for a great getaway. It was my birthday and Dianna even put up happy birthday banners. Blue Shutter Beach House is a perfect getaway and the best value around. I hope to stay again.

Perfect spot to relax!

We had a great time during our stay! Dianna was very responsive and helpful both ahead of time and during, and was great about communicating things we’d need (or want) to know ahead of time also! Everything was clean and the house was spacious. The house has great bones so sound didn’t carry into the bedrooms much at all, so we all got great rest! Our favorite feature was certainly the beach being merely paces across the street, right outside of our front door. It was a dreamy beach with the perfect proximity. Thanks again, Dianna! Beautiful Fall Stay

We had a wonderful weekend here! Great for families with kids, just a short walk across the street to a park with a playground and the beach! There are a lot of fun fall things in this area too. Took a 15 min drive to Jollay Orchards for apple picking and fall activities too. Would highly recommend!

Great memories

The house was charming and suited our needs well. We loved the beautiful surroundings, close proximity and access to Lake Michigan, walks on the beach enjoying beautiful sunsets, roasting marshmallows in the fire pit and a bike ride to Paw paw lake. What a cute little getaway! Looks like a cute little farm lakehouse with quite a bit of yard for yard games. Tons of beds for sleeping in, little notes for how to use things, and Dianna the host is super sweet!

Perfect for us

Our family spends a week at Lake Michigan each year. This was our first year staying at the Blue Shutter beach house. We had 6 adults and one child. If you’re looking for a high end rental, this is not for you. If you’re looking for a cozy beach house, this one is great. The house is stocked with all of the kitchenware you need for meals. They provide enough toiletries, paper dilly, etc for a day or two. On site laundry is a plus. Plenty of board games for rainy days. The beach access right across the street at Hagar park is so nice. We especially enjoyed the screened in porch for coffee in the mornings and to escape the bugs in the evening. The owner was very accommodating in a few requests we had and made us feel welcomed. Overall, it was a great place to spend time with family and we would definitely rent again!
