There were 2 major issues. 1) The night staff member checking us in, allowed us to check in our dogs. We made full disclosure. He even complemented us on the dog and their behavior. Other Comfort Inn’s on our trip allowed us to have the dogs with no issues. The next morning, the manager informed my daughter not me who was the party of record that there was a no pet policy and insisted we leave with evidence of a refund for the remaining 3 days which has not been cleared in my bank. The manager took no responsibility for his night staff member and accused me of lying to him about the pets. The issue is not the no pet policy. The issue is, its inconsistent application and the lack of customer service and rude demeanor. 2) The second issue is the overwhelming health hazard of the renovation at the hotel during our brief one night stay. Since one of my family’s reservation was made via Expedia and could not be cancelled, we chose to stay despite the health hazards (I am asthmatic and have other autoimmune issues.) I recommend that both Expedia and the hotel disclose renovations to customers when making a reservation. Expedia should also add 2 features a) indicate if a hotel is pet friendly and b) if a renovation is going on. Many people with health conditions could be affected. These changes are simple programming conveniences. I will inform both Choice Hotels and Expedia Corporate.
