The hotel itself was clean but worn. The room was very hot and there was only a very small fan to cool the room when we had to close to door and window. Breakfast was very good.

Business trip to Mac - Hidden gem!
Comfortable room. Great food, beer and service in the pub. plus a great breakfast in the morning. About to leave and found I had a flat tyre due to a puncture. The staff were brilliant and let me have use of my room until I managed to get someone out to repair it. Will stay again next time I am visiting the area on business.

Very clean and well maintained. The decor and furniture were excellent as well as the bed being comfortable. Staff very friendly and it is obvious they put a lot of loving and care into the place.

Very nice rooms. Though they don't offer all night reception they left a note on the door to advise how I could gain access to my room which was very welcoming. Breakfast was excellent.

I stay at The Plough when in the area and have for 12 years. There is a good pub and pretty good selection of food. Rooms are OK - beds a little hard. Very good value

Awful Experience
Arrived tired and ready to relax. We were booked in room five of the hotel annaexe. What greeted us was a dirty stained carpet and a soiled bed headboard that would be better placed in a builders skip. The bedding was clean but full of holes. The bathroom was beyond words, but the ones I will use is grubby with black mold, and scalding hot water from a shower tap that couldn,t be controlled. Not all the lights were working. Disco in barn win was disturbing and we were not informed that this was on before we booked. Overall the worst hotel we have ever stayed in.

Brief overnight stop on a long drive into Manchester. A bit noisy at night due to party in the pub across from the lodgings but ended before too late. Great staff, good full English breakfast (though lacking vege alternative). Comfortable and with friendly staff.

Good choice
Spacious and comfy rooms in what appears to be a converted barn next to the pub. Located in a small village. The pub also has a restaurant which serves good food, although the prices suggest they think the food is better than it is. The puddings are very good.

The room was great because in an annex. Although the room is big, I thought it was a bit expensive considering it is an inn in the middle of nowhere in cheshire. The layout and the organization let me down a little, I felt I was not taken care of, the staff seemed to bearly noticed me when I came in for the check-in.

An overall pleasant stay and I would use again . Good sized bedroom and very comfortable; bathroom was also okay. Very friendly staff and really good food. My only real criticism is regarding the maintenance; there were two light bulbs not working, the shower hose was split and needed replacing and the plug in the bathroom basin did not retain the water in the bowl. I find this lacking of attention to detail, which must be obvious to the housekeeping staff, very frustrating and unnecessary but is something that is easily rectified if addressed by management.

Comfortable room and excellent food
I chose to stay at the Plough Inn rather than a budget hotel chain because of its proximity to a business meeting the following morning. My room was large with a large, comfortable double bed. The hotel details revealed the rooms had been refurbished to a high standard by a top London designed some years ago and this was obvious from the reasonable standard of finish, although some aspects let the room down - for example the fact the lights had dimmer switches but were being used with low-energy light bulbs that weren't compatible with dimming. There was a smell of damp in the bathroom, but this was clean, warm and well equipped. Two major issues were the lack of a reliable and fast broadband connection which made work difficult from the room, and the variable television reception. Can't fault the food, however, and the cooked breakfast was one of the best I've enjoyed for a long time.

A great pub with great food and service, The rooms are adjacent to the pub but more like a motel. Not much in immediate area but great locations not to far away. Definitely visit Tarkington, a very pretty little town. Another pretty town is Castleton in the Peak District. Great climbing area behind the town but strenuos.

Good quality hotel and pub grub
We stayed at the Plough Inn for one night as our base for the elbow concert at Jodrell Bank. Checking in was straight forward and the room was clean and spacious for the cost. We ate at the pub for lunch for which I had the burger which was definitely home made as described and a couple of pints of the cask ales. we also had breakfast in the pub and again the food was good... full English! All in all we enjoyed our short stay at the Plough all be it through a cloud of alcohol !

Schönes kleines Hotel mit gutem Service
Die Zimmer sind in einem Anbau, so dass man von der Hauptstraße nichts mitbekommt. Kleiner Nachteil: die Fenster sind alle zum Parkplatz, deshalb kann jeder, der dort vorbeigeht, in die Zimmer im EG schauen. Die Zimmer sind groß, schön und komfortabel eingerichtet. Der Service ist sehr gut. Die Mitarbeiter sind sehr hilfsbereit, wenn man Fragen hat (Buszeiten, Taxibestellung etc.). Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis ist gut.
