It has been years since I wanted to share feedback about a lodging experience online. I discovered Cromwell Manor Inn on Expedia when I spontaneously decided to spend a weekend at Storm King, just a short drive from the accommodations. I arrived around 8 pm after a long, rainy bus ride from Port Authority. Tory greeted me with the warmest welcome, and I instantly felt at home. He graciously took my bag and personally delivered it to my room, The Windsor, walking me through all the available amenities for my stay. Troy went above and beyond to ensure I had everything I needed before leaving me to the solitude I sought an hour outside the hustle and bustle of the city. The next day, he prepared a beautiful breakfast and assisted me in planning my trip to Storm King. Although I had only booked a two-night stay, on the second day, I had the pleasure of meeting the rest of the Cromwell Manor Inn family, including the wonderful owners. Troy treated me to another delicious breakfast, and I spent the remainder of my day exploring the grounds while witnessing the team joyously decorating the beautiful estate with Christmas decorations. Before heading back to the city, I had lunch next door at Jones Farm, following the Cromwell family's suggestion, and began planning my next stay. As a history buff, I was fascinated by the inn's history, feeling like I had been transported to another time. My room was cozy and warm, impeccably clean and well-preserved.

I liked Troy's eggs and blueberry pancakes. This property is poorly lit, with limited outlets, and feels like a fire hazard. The surrounding area is quiet but not serene. The region is called Storm King for a reason apparently.

Hi Ross - We were disappointed to see that you did not have a great stay and were surprised that we only earned two stars. However, we recognize we can't please everyone. Regarding your feedback, yes, the house is dated as it was built in 1820 and there are fewer electrical outlets than the amount you'd find in modern homes. We are continually working on improving the amenities, while also maintaining the historic charm. Regarding the outlets and lighting, our property passed inspection and this is the first time we've heard anyone express these concerns. I do agree that we can add more outdoor lighting, especially in the winter when the solar lights do not work as well. We hope you visit us again in another season and try one of our other rooms like the Wellington, Canterbury and Arcarian.

Dirty and nothing like the pictures!
The photos of this B&B are nothing like the house. It is dirty, worn down and at best a two-star. One of our rooms was in the original house. It was located on the street and was very noisy - we did not sleep all night. The second night we went to the pharmacy and purchased ear plugs. The bathtub had mildew, the windows have moss growing in between the panes. My son's bedding had blood on it and it was dusty and not clean. The windows in the houses were filthy and the rooms were not sanitary. There is one person working both houses - checking guests in/out, cleaning and trying to prepare breakfast. He is very enthusiastic but we had to wait over 1 hour for a breakfast scramble and it was just some eggs on a plate and not worth the wait. This was an expensive weekend and our rooms were over $600 each for 2 days - not worth the price and we were so disappointed. Go to the Hampton Inn and treat yourself to a breakfast and you will be WAY ahead.

Hi MollyWe're very sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your recent stay. I'd like to address your concerns and offer you an opportunity to make it up to you. I see that you stayed in the Beddingfield Room in the 1764 House and the Shetfield Room in the Manor House. The windows in the Beddingfield Room are very old and are unable to open which explains the moss. There's no excuse for dirty linens and a dirty tub so we apologize for that. This is the first time we've had this issue and it is being addressed. We have 13 unique rooms on the property and we feel our pictures represent the property well. We encourage you to consider one of our other rooms, like the Canterbury, Wellington or Arcarian as they may be more to your liking. Regarding the rate, 300 per night is a competitive rate for the fall season in the Hudson Valley. We're sorry you didn't feel you got your monies worth. We enjoyed our stay! We were in town for an event at West Point, and the property was very convenient and just a short drive. Troy the inn keeper was a delightful host, and his delicious breakfasts were a highlight!

We stayed 3 nights for a weekend getaway in the Canterbury room. As many have commented, Troy is absolutely committed to customer service and making sure his guests' needs are being met. The property is charming and the grounds are beautiful. Also, the Inn is only a quick 15 minute drive to the Newburgh waterfront. We have plans to return in the fall for some leaf peeping!

Our time at Cromwell Manor Inn was like staying at a good friend’s house. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the overall home is charming. Our host Troy did everything to ensure our welcome and started our day with a hot breakfast. Eventually, the Inn will add a full service restaurant and bar, which will be great. In the meantime, we made ourselves at home each evening by enjoying our bottle of wine on the bucolic patio.

The Cromwell Manor was our favorite part of our visit to New York City! It is such a peaceful, clean and friendly place to get away from the craziness of the city. Staff was super helpful. So much close by—restaurants, stores. We hope to return!
