Crabby Mermaid: Oceanside Home in Whalehead Beach

Geluk is er in overvloed wanneer je familie ervoor kiest om bij de Crabby Mermaid te blijven, voorheen bekend als Leave It Behind. Het is een groot en comfortabel vakantiehuis met 8 slaapkamers (7 masters), een groot privézwembad, een bubbelbad en het is slechts 800 meter van de toegang tot het strand in de wijk Whalehead Beach. Nieuwe eigenaren plannen upgrades voor het huurseizoen 2020!

TOP NIVEAU:
The Great Room omvat het gehele hoogste niveau met de woon- en eetgedeelte met een grote keuken. Het bareiland biedt plaats aan 5, de ontbijttafel voor 4 en de eettafel voor 10. Brede dekken zijn beschikbaar aan 3 zijden van het huis op het oosten, westen en zuiden. Het dakterras biedt een panoramisch uitzicht op de oceaan en de hele buurt.

MIDDELMATIG:
De hele verdieping heeft 5 Master Suites met flatscreen-tv's: 1 kingsize bed, 3 queensize bed en 1 Pyramid Bunk Set. Alle slaapkamers hebben toegang tot de buitendekken behalve de koningmeester.

BEGANE GROND:
Een grote lounge en een speelgedeelte met een tafelvoetbaltafel, een kitchenette en een grote koelkast. Op dit niveau bevinden zich nog drie slaapkamers: de tweede King Master Suite en de vierde Queen Master Suite. Er is nog een Pyramid Bunk Bedroom die een complete badkamer deelt met de lounge.

EXTRA'S:
Het prachtige zwembad heeft een bubbelbad en twee grills: een gasgrill en een parkachtige grill voor houtskool. Er is een beschut gedeelte boven de picknicktafel en twee buitendouches om af te douchen voordat u het zwembad of de hot tub gebruikt. Op de voorste oprit kunnen de actieve familieleden oefenen om een paar hoepels in het basketbalnet te schieten.

May Vacation with the family

The home was clean and provided us with rooms for the family to spread out.Having the heated pool was worth the extra money, given that the ocean was a bit cold for the little ones.The home could use some updating.Overall, we were all very happy with our stay.

Great Family Vacation

The property is spacious and was able to handle my family of 13 with ease. Short distance to the beach. Had everything we needed. A few minor problems but the management handled them immediately. Would definitely return to the Crabby Mermaid!

Perfect Property for Us

The layout of the house was perfect - kitchen and living room area on the top level, bedrooms on levels one and two. Kitchen was amazingly equipped - it had everything! We traveled with six adults and five children between 2 and 6 years of age. Pool was perfect for our needs. We enjoyed lunches at the picnic table by the pool. There was plenty of outdoor deck space. The decor in the house was very tasteful - we enjoyed going on "art hunts" to count mermaids, crabs, etc. We also enjoyed the location of the house - less than 2 miles to the Food Lion and Seafood Market, and only a few blocks to the beach. While we cannot do this trip every year, we will look to rent this house again when we return in 2026. Sincere thanks to the owners who made this property available to rent.

I’d give it 4 stars

Overall it went well but we had 2 infants and was not able to access the house earlier than 4. Which was very worrisome in 92 degree heat. Also there were no bikes there or beach chairs. The kitchen was very well furnished but the electric outlets on both sides of the sink and on the island quit working on Friday.

Nice property but needs a few upgrades

House was clean but carpet is old. AC vents on the 3rd floor were dirty and need to be changed. We have family members in HVAC that noticed that. Ocen and stove really need to be replaced. Could not open window in the 2nd floor front window. All this to say we had a good time but we would not rent this property again.

A longtime dream come true.

All the kids and grandkids under one roof for multiple days by the beach. We did it and we did it with little effort. Accommodations and cleanliness were key along with bathrooms for each of the five families and more for the kids. Dream come true.

great overall house and location, a bit in need of updating

The house and location were just as advertised. We were an extended family of 12 and had plenty of room. The kitchen has loads of dishes, cooking utensils and appliances. The furniture in the great room is worn and should probably be replaced. Most of the rooms are carpeted with a shag carpet that does not work well for a beach house. The front porch was covered in cob webs. The gas grill needs a through cleaning. The bottom was lined with at least an inch of ashes along with a partial hot dog. Only 4 of the 6 gas pipes would light, and the igniter does not work. I would rate the overall house with 3.5 starts given the size of the house and the location.

Our stay was great. Loved the location.

The house size was great for the number of people we had. We did have an issues with the lower level air conditioning unit, but the rental company was quick to resolve it. We also had some clogged shower drains and they fixed that right away too. Overall it was a great trip and a great place to stay for the week.

Nice House Room for Improvement

The home was nice, however, it was very dusty and spiderwebs were everywhere. The furniture was really old and should be replaced, the carpet is worn out and also should be replaced. Overall, we had a great vacation, but a little TLC to the house would make it a jewel.

Some issues that had to be fixed.

Loved location. Our toilet was severly cracked and flooded after 1 use. Took 2 days for a full replacement. Being the hosts, I'm glad it was us and not one of our guests. I'm hoping to receive some compensation for the major inconvenience of not having a working toilet for 2 whole days. Otherwise, lovely property.

Awesome house

This house had everything. The kitchen was well equipped with everything you need to cook, bake, chop, blend anything. The house was clean and provided the perfect home for our family of 16. Everyone had their own room and bathroom and we loved the pool and hot tub. Lots of memories made here. Highly recommend.

Wonderful time
