Visit to Cortez

Great stay
Place was clean and well organized. Like being slightly outta the way and a great rock and gem store just down the street. We say a deer in the yard. Close to Durango and Mesa Verde and other neat attractions.

Nice, but small
Sleeping for 5, but realistically only seating for 4. These small houses are fresh and new and nice. The kitchen is really more of a kitchenette, but this is shown in the listing. Pay attention to the owners recommendation to run the ceiling fan or the loft will get hot.

A Colorado Gem
I and my adult son stayed in one of the cabins at Stone Turtle Lodges in July 2022. The cabin is a great location for visiting Durango, Mesa Verde, Telluride, and towns along the Million Dollar Highway. We also found multiple hiking trailheads along the roads to all of these locations. The cabin is very clean and comfortable; it is well stocked as described. Janice is easy to communicate with and responds promptly to messages. And yes, her cookies are scrumptious!! I recommend this as a terrific place to stay!

This cabin felt much bigger than the description suggests. We were only there for one night and was late arriving. Janice left a light on for us and even had freshly baked chocolate chip cookies for us. We loved staying here and were very comfortable! Very clean and extra touches such as green plants.

It is a well laid out small home with an upstairs; Great for a couple or a small family. Immaculate and everything worked predictably and properly. Bucolic agrarian views upstairs & downstairs in the days, and a nice, neat deck for night stargazers. The fresh cookies were a nice touch, too. Access to Cortez, CO by car is easy & quick.

Hidden gem
This hidden gem provided the perfect respite for these weary travelers. We were welcomed with home made cookies. Stone Turtle Lodge is minutes away from downtown Cortez which has plenty of entertainment, dining options and shopping. It is also minutes away from Mesa Verde National Park. The property is on a beautiful farm in view of the mountains and a brilliant sunset every evening. It looks brand new and has everything you need for a stay, including toiletries and all kitchen equipment. There is a loft with 3 beds, all of different firmness and labeled accordingly. The main bedroom is so comfortable I woke up thinking I was at home. Check in and out was easy and contactless. I was traveling with my teenager and he loved it too. It is safe, quiet and conveniently located. There is no question we will stay here again.

Very Clean and Beautiful View
We stayed for 4 Nights in July 2021.We spent a day at Mesa Verde, we rafted and zip lined out of Durango, we hiked Canyon of the Ancients and saw the Hovenweep National Monument (very cool). We also drove up to Telluride one day and stopped along the way at Bear Creek trailhead and played in the river. So much to do! The cabin is everything you will need and really very nice. The beds were comfortable the layout was nice for us especially since we had three kids and there were three single beds in the loft. It is very very clean and comfortable. I loved walking out and seeing the view of the mountains in the distance. Great home base for an active vacation!

We really enjoyed our stay in Cortez. The place was clean, comfortable and perfect for our group. Janice greeted us when we arrived. The house was really cute and new with a nice front porch that was perfect for lounging at the end of the day. The peacefulness of the farm complete views of horses and cows in the backyard added to the serenity.

All the amenities we needed with hotel-like luxury. Sunsets and sunrises were beautiful and so was the farming neighborhood. Away from the hustle and bustle. Well kept and perfect for a family of five with older children. Note: fridge is small so keep that in mind when brings food. Overall loves this place!

Absolutely Top Notch!!
I have had the opportunity to stay in several world-class accommodations all over the globe over my many years of travel. This delightful cabin was, without a doubt, by far the cleanest we have ever stayed in. Absolutely spick & span - not a speck of dust or dirt anywhere. The unit had everything we could have asked for and many thoughtful comfort & convenience touches throughout - including freshly made homemade cookies on our arrival. Janice, the owner, was in contact with us several times prior to our arrival to see if we had any questions or needed anything. Loved the separate, free-standing cabin in a very tranquil environment. Very quiet, relaxing & restful! My only regret is that we were only able to stay one night. The best of the best - you can't go wrong. Would love the opportunity to stat here again someday!

Spotless!
We rented two of these units for meeting up with some friends. They are spotless and very comfortable. Locations is great for exploring the area. I didn't realize there was no oven but the owner brought over her grill and saved one evenings dinner! We would definitely stay here again. Oh and there were delicious homemade cookies when we checked in.

Beautiful, comfortable, and sparkling clean!
We immediately felt relaxed in this cute little house, and it was perfect for our family! We loved the quiet rural setting with horses nearby, yet a quick drive to town, and all the comforts of home provided. It seemed brand-new and perfectly clean, and stress-free. Just perfect! The only minor thing was that the fridge was not full-size--it fit under the counter. This was totally fine for us, but if you're planning to stay for a week and cook, don't buy all your groceries at once! :) Such a wonderful place that's truly peaceful--it was a treat to stay here!

I cannot say enough about this place and the kind hosts, Janice and Keith. I booked this rental along with 6 other nights over the course of an 8 day all American road trip that started in Denver going to Mt Rushmore; then Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, Arches National, Monument Valley and Four Corners, spending one night at Stone Turtle Lodges, in Cortez, CO. I booked the wrong date; realized only after we were 2 hours away from Cortez. I got in touch with Janice, who was able to switch my reservation. The cottage was immaculate; one of the cleanest VRBO rentals I've ever been to. Cookies on a plate, welcomed us inside the beautiful cabin. OMG So good! We loved everything about the place; great views, coffee in the morning, peaceful countryside and amazing hosts. The cabin is well built, with beautiful furniture, quilts and art. Four of us stayed comfortably, one night. We would have loved to stay a few more days. I would recommend the La Casita De Cortez for dinner; fantastic!

Lovely Cabins
My family rented two cabins (Middle and Left) both were in excellent condition! Everyone slept great and said the beds were very comfortable. The bathrooms are beautifully done and had great water pressure. All linens were in excellent condition and the cabin were sparkling clean! The cabin on the left has a great view out the kitchen window of the horses next door, which my niece couldn’t get enough of. The middle cabin gets shade on the front porch earlier than the left. Our family really enjoyed being out on the porch enjoying a glass of wine/beer watching the kids run around. Janice was a wonderful host and greeted my parents once they arrived and had freshly baked cookies waiting for us, which everyone one enjoyed. Thank you so much for making our stay so lovely, we wish we could’ve stayed longer.

Wonderful place to stay in a great location!
We had a wonderful week-long stay at Stone Turtle in our luxurious cabin. We cooked most of our meals in the kitchen which was well equipped with a small refrigerator, 4-burner cooktop, a microwave, and a full set of pots and pans, dishes, etc. The living area, bedroom, and even the bathroom were all very roomy. Lots of nice homey touches from the curtains to the quilt on the bed! Everything was very clean and like new. We found lots to do in the vicinity from Mesa Verde to Canyons of the Ancients -- even the Badlands of New Mexico were within reach. Our hosts provided verbal info and plenty of brochures with suggested activities. We had a very comfortable stay.

Janice, Your property was very nice and close to town. I do wish we had internet, however, living in a rural community myself, I understand the challenge of choices there. The only thing I could think of as an improvement is it would be nice to add a mirror on one of the walls in the common living area, with only one bedroom and being able to sleep so many that might be appreciated by your future guests.

The cabins are just minutes away from town with an excellent view.
We stayed a total of 4 nights. It is located near so many attractions and plenty of things to do. Located right outside of town, with great views of Mesa Verde and mountains. The cabin was very clean with extra amenities. Great for short or long stays.

Very pleasantly surprised. From the plate of home baked cookies, to the filled fruit bowl, to the Keurig coffee and coffee maker, to the comfortable beds with handmade quilts to the beautiful tiled shower with luxurious soaps and large fluffy towels. The unit was brand new with very good construction and top notch materials. Every need was anticipated and addressed. A wonderful place to stay
