One month at Sage Cottage
Sage Cottage was the perfect “base camp” for our winter vacation in the Bitterroot Valley. It is a very comfortable cottage with all the amenities one needs. Rae and Bill are wonderful hosts and quick to respond to any questions or needs. The cottage is very clean, with beautiful views from the kitchen windows. It is a quiet retreat. And, the hens are friendly and there are quiet a few birds around. It was a wonderful experience. thank you Rae and Bill!!

Delightful spot
Watching lighting move across the Bitterroot Valley. Laying in the hot tub following the Milky Way spinning. Yeah, this spot is sweet. Nice cozy cabin. Well equipped kitchen. Modern bathroom. All that and short drives to spectacular hiking. We stayed 5 nights and were not ready to leave! Bill and Rae are delightful hosts with good tips and interesting history. Five stars all around.

Lovely cottage in the Bitterroot Valley
This is such a wonderful, well-appointed cottage, and it was a perfect place for my wife and me to stay during our visit to the Bitterroot Valley. The owners' care for the place is evident in the artistic details built into the cottage and all the thoughtful items provided to guests, from condiments and hiking maps to a washer/dryer for laundry. And a hot tub! It's so glorious to take a soak after a long day hiking in the mountains. We definitely will come back the next time we're in the area.

Our “Welcome Home”
Sage Cottage was the best welcome to our new home in Montana we could have asked for. We spent several months at Sage Cottage as we moved from Florida to Montana and couldn’t be more grateful for our lovely welcome to our new home town. From day one, to the end of our stay a few weeks ago, we were pleased with what we received. The cottage was well stocked with all essentials needed, and several comforts as well. We were not left wanting or needing anything. The cottage stayed warm throughout the winter, and we even had elk pursuing through the yard one night! The chickens kept us laughing through our first winter in a decade, and the clean hot tub healed our aches from day trips skiing and hiking. The nearby calves welcomed the spring and were a joy to watch! Rae and Bill welcomed us and our family with their knowledge while providing us with privacy throughout our several months stay. We couldn’t have asked for more. We already miss it! Don’t hesitate on this amazing cottage with some of the best views and easy access to hikes around!

Quaint Cottage, Wonderful Hosts, Stunning Setting
My wife, baby, and I loved our time at this wonderful little cottage in the beautiful Bitterroot Valley. The house has everything you need plus a hot tub with a great view of the Big Sky at night. The hosts add a lot of fun little local extras, and clearly a lot of TLC, in the house to make the experience that much better. My wife and I spent most of our time just sitting on the lawn, reading a book, and soaking up the scenery. But if you want to explore the cute little downtown you are only 15 minutes away. This Montanan trip was one of the best domestic ones we have ever taken and this little cottage is the perfect way to experience “God’s Country.”

Perfection!
The location and hosts exceeded all expectations! The view of the Bitterroot Mts and Sapphire Mts is fantastic. The cottage was clean with lots of personal touches. From the hand blown door pulls and wine stoppers to all the books and games and toiletries, there is everything you need for a wonderful stay. Rae and Bill go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable. We hated to leave!

What this world needs more of ......
This wonderful little cottage was just the perfect place to tune out all the noises and negativity one can be assaulted with in daily life . Instantly you feel peaceful in this wonderfully stocked home with every amenity imaginable. Beds were extremely comfortable, the property modestly priced , & the most amiable & accommodating host and hostess . We WILL be back soon !!

Great cottage
We (a party of two) have been for one week in July 2020. Everything is as described on the internet site. The WiFi internet connection really worked and we could connect our laptop computer and talk using Skype. The property is well designed, very clean and well maintained. There is a functional kitchen (stove, oven, microwave, coffee maker, refrigerator/freezer, dishes/cooking utensils, etc.). The full-bathroom has toilet/shower/bathtub/sink. There is a washer/dryer in the bathroom. We could park our car just in front of the entrance. The owners made significant efforts to transform our vacation into a wonderful experience. We hope to come back again.

The Best Little Retreat
How can I summarize when there is so much to say. This place packs a punch! And I mean a good punch! You received well by both Rae and Bill. Two amazing people by the way. The house is the nicest cutest place to stay in with all the amenities I needed and then some. Rae makes all her own soap and cream products. Like walking into a boutique motel without the noice. I love the chickens that roamed around. The peacefulness of the area. The views were amazing. I cannot begin to express the gratitude and how much this place felt like staying in a retreat of some kind. I would come back should I be in the area in the future. I recommend anyone who loves the outdoors and peacefulness to visit this hidden gem!

The best cottage we have ever stayed at
Montana in August is great. Our stay at Bill and Rae's country cottage was what we had hoped for. Beautiful, quiet country home with scenic routes all around. It truely is a home away from home. The owners thought of everything you need and more. Questions we had were answered quickly and my husband and I enjoyed the knowledge we gained from Bill and Rae who are wonderful hosts. If you are looking for a quiet but relaxing beautiful country cottage in the Bitterroot Valley, this is your place to go. There is lots of things to do close by. We especially enjoyed the scenic drive into the Bitterroot National Forest and nearby towns. We hope to return again, maybe for our 50th wedding anniversary because we enjoyed this property so much. Sweet cottage in the Bitterroot
Rae and Bill were wonderful hosts. The cottage is comfortable and cozy with everything necessary. It’s a quiet location but close by car to everything. The bed was very comfortable. The cottage is kept very clean and everything worked flawlessly. The cottage has information about things to see and do. The sunrise and sunset views from the kitchen table are amazing. To see the Big Sky all you do is walk out on the porch and look up! I can’t say enough about how welcome Rae made me feel. I hope to return.

Perfect!! Fantastic place
We loved our stay here. The property is immaculate and spacious - and very relaxing and peaceful. The view of the Bitteroot Mountains is breathtaking, and the night sky view of the stars and Milky Way are the best we’ve seen, especially when viewed from the hot tub! It was lovely waking up in the morning, admiring the view, watching the chickens and listening out for the elk. This place is such good value for money - cheaper than many motel rooms, but there is no comparison! What really made our stay here so good were the hosts - Rae and Bill. They made us feel so welcome, you could tell that they really wanted to share their property with us, and we feel that we come away making new friends. Make sure to look out for their beautiful glass artwork around the garden! We left with very fond memories, and really do hope to return again one day, thank you for everything!

Quaint little cottage.

Wonderful stay at Sage Cottage!
We really enjoyed our stay at the cottage - the Grouts are wonderfully kind hosts who have put a lot of love and effort into their property. We felt at home, had everything we needed and appreciated how kid-friendly the cottage is - our kids loved chasing the chickens and playing in the pop up rocket ship! The views from the cottage are amazing! We’d be happy to return and stay again on our next visit to the valley.

Perfect getaway!
This place was absolutely perfect. We were looking for a little getaway from our hectic schedules, what we found was more than we expected! It was so peaceful and quiet, we didn’t want to leave. The hosts thought of everything, from their homemade soaps/shampoos to the BBQ grill and champagne glasses. The outdoor space with the hot tub and fire pit coupled with the million dollar views made our little getaway unbelievably perfect. We will definitely be back.

This was the perfect vacation get away for us. The cabin we normally stay in in the Bitterroot Valley was no longer available so we were a little apprehensive. This cottage did not disappoint! Centrally located to streams and hikes in the valley and convenient to Hamilton. This is our new favorite place to stay. Well appointed kitchen and the washer and dryer were a huge timesaver. Bill and Rae were there for anything we needed, but otherwise, we didn’t even know they were on the property. You will not be disappointed.

We loved our stay at the Sage Cottage 406! It was cozy and comfortable, yet had everything one would need or want! Nice little kitchen, washer and dryer, Technology! We loved coming home from a long day and watching a movie on Netflix or checking Facebook! The cottage is beautiful inside and out, it really feels like a spa! Even has a hot tub and fire pit. There are free range chickens and a garden and orchard to stroll through. Most of all though we loved Rae and Bill! They went out of their way to make our visit special! Truly kind wonderful people! They are also very talented professional glass blowers! You will love the little details in the cottage. Glad I have my beautiful bracelet Rae made that I got at the Hamilton Farmers Market! This is a super clean and cozy place to stay. So relaxing.
We stayed for 5 nights and toured the area. The cottage is perfectly set up with everything possibly needed. The owners were only a text away if anything was needed and so accommodating. Wonderful people. The hot tub provided for the hot tub was crystal clean. Everything needed for the fire pit and bbq were there. I can't say enough great things about this place. We will go back.

The perfect getaway cottage in the Bitterroot Valley.
Our 10-day vacation/house-hunting trip was probably the most relaxing vacation we have ever enjoyed. Rae and Bill are the BEST hosts ever. From the perfect cottage, to all the touches inside that made it feel so inviting; you can’t go wrong. The days in the Bitterroot Valley were spent hiking, driving, visiting and walking the various towns, experiencing the famers market, shopping and dining. It sounds like we had a busy time, but we didn’t! We made sure to spend a few of the 10 days just sitting around their beautiful yard and gardens enjoying the vistas of the mountains and the valley. And the stars at night! If you have never experienced that, wait until the sun has gone down completely and see what the sky has to offer. Wow! It is just phenomenal. Thank-you Rae and Bill for making it those 10 days just perfect.
