Joe and Sally were kind hosts, providing insights and tips for exploring the area. Their guidance was particularly helpful because we brought our dog along and wanted to take him in at least one or two hikes, which we did!
Bed, living room, and sleeping pads were all fabulous. The upstairs bathroom is exposed/open to the bedroom but we didn’t mind.
The kitchen functioned well, but since we stayed for so long and did much of our own cooking - I wish we had brought our own knives and skillets. We were smart enough to bring a selection of spices. The freezer space is also pretty limited.
In addition to easy access to the Smith river, you can hear it from inside the house (lovely) and we spotted a bald Eagle flying by, twice. It was, without traffic, an easy 30 - 45 minute drive to major Redwood parks or sites and many local hikes were even closer. The cabin itself is remote and sans cell or strong internet, which was what we wanted so we could work on artistic projects.
And, a small note, While perfect for our visit, I wouldn’t recommend the cabin to folks with accessibility or sensitive medical needs.
