Comfortable stay
Plenty of space to spread out. Lovely location in the woods. If there had been snow, I’m north sure we could have found the driveway or made it up the hill to the house. Driveway obscured by leaves. A few minor suggestions. Amount of tableware needs to be checked. Not enough for the group. The frying pans do not work on the induction stove. Game cabinets need straightening up and firestarters replenished.

Perfect place for us
Great cabin in a quiet woods. Stayed for four days in early September. We were in Madison for the Ironman. About a 25 min drive to the venue. Cabin is exactly as described in the listing. We did not use grills or fireplace but bedrooms/bathrooms/living spaces were all clean and in good order. Jason was very responsive to questions and gave me updates throughout the week. It's very secluded and no yard so not the best place for younger children who might need outdoor time but perfect for adults who want to get away from the city. I would definitely book this place again if we should decide to return to the area.

Solid if not spectacular
The house itself was pretty good for what we needed - which was mostly a place to sleep. The beds were comfortable, the basement was nicely cooled, and the house was generally clean. However, multiple bathrooms had issues with standing water in the showers. It would drain after you finished, but I'm not a fan of the water pooling around my feet while I shower. Also, while it didn't affect what we wanted to do, a lot of the areas directly around the house were very overgrown with weeds, which was somewhat off-putting. And the main picture displayed is a view of the back of the house, which to me is a bit deceptive, because when you come up on the house, the front is a completely different look. Overall, the house was very nice except those small bathroom issues and some exterior things. Would recommend staying here.

This house had everything we needed for a girls weekend—so much space, great natural light, comfy beds, super soft sheets, giant fridge and plenty of cooking supplies. Close to Madison but felt very far away-so relaxing!

Peaceful cabin in the woods
My wife and I got married in a town nearby and spent the next 3 days/nights at this cabin and loved it. It’s nicely hidden from the road, very quiet and remote (but still very close to Cross Plains/Madison/Mt. Horeb if you want to range out). It was well-stocked with the items you’d expect to have at a rental place and I also found plenty of things I didn’t expect to see: DVDs, lots of books, board games, extra cooking ingredients and items, etc. Combine this with all the bedrooms and beds at the place and it’d make a great spot for a quiet family retreat, friends reunion, etc. On top of that, Jason was very responsive and helpful throughout the stay. Would recommend!

The house is beautiful and full of light, quiet and very good for families or friends to gather. The one downside is there are many steps/levels to the house and these are not marked, potentially leading to falls. Not recommended for those with balance/knee/leg problems or those who cannot handle stairs. Otherwise we had a terrific time.

Gorgeous setting, lovely and flexible house, responsive owner
Our family of four spent the weekend while running back & forth from Tyrol Basin for a ski race. The home was spotless, charming & a great place to unwind after a long day on the hill. Waking up & watching the sun creep up over the tree filled hillside while sipping a cup of coffee in the back room that has wall to ceiling windows is a true treat! Then watch the sun set to a crackling fireplace… Our kids are already asking when we can come back. Jason was an excellent host making sure we got in okay & promptly answered any questions we would have.

Cozy Cabin in the woods
This was a beautiful relaxing spot that feels like secluded wilderness but is 15 minutes from Madison. Great location and beautiful cabin. The kitchen was a little challenging to prep meals in as a family. Limited counter space and a TINY dishwasher. We also found evidence of mice which was gross. But other than that the cabin was beautiful. Plenty of firewood was supplied and there's room to spread out. I think the pricing needs reconfigured. The additional charges for more than 4 people is insane.

Sadly, being a cabin in the woods, especially in the winter time, it is next to impossible to completely eliminate mice. I'm sorry you were not aware of the extra guest fees as when you originally made your reservation for4 people they did not apply - this is clearly noted in our listing when reservations are made and accounts for the additional cleaning required for large parties (more beds to launder, linens, etc.). We find that our prices remain more than competitive with other properties, as well as with hotels in the area. We hope you will consider another visit to our property in the future!

Great getaway!
Perfect getaway for our family. We used it as a hub to visit Cave of the Mounds, House on the Rock, family in Madison and Devil’s Lake State Park. I loved the little nooks for reading with my coffee or Bloody Mary. The kids loved the high speed internet! Communication with the property manager was excellent.

This cabin fit our group of 6 so well. Each family had our own area and own bathroom. Plenty of common spaces to use and spread out. Or to be together. Very clean! The location is nicely remote....but only 15-20 minites from plenty of stores, and .Madison. We enjoyed seeing more of the small towns just outside of Madison. Great communication and we'll stocked with all that was needed.

Get-Away in Forest
What a great large log cabin with all of the things you need. My 2 siblings snd I got a chance to relax in the house, enjoyed the grill to BBQ, and go to nearby places like Mt Horeb (CUTE town! Only 3-5 miles away), and work out at Planet Fitness about 7 minutes the other way towards Madison.

Great place to get away!
With the current state of the world, we were hoping to find a place that would allow us to detach and really reconnect with old friends. This location has so many wonderful areas to sit and chat and be in nature. There are also no views of neighbors so you really feel like you are deep in the woods and in nature. Amazing cabin in the woods
We had a fantastic time! We didn’t mind the one rainy day we had as the cabin has some lovely spots to hang out, play games/read and enjoy a tasty beverage. There is a bench swing a short walk into the woods, and this was another great spot to hang out. I recommend bringing your own condiments (sugar, butter, etc.). There was plenty of cookware and serve-ware for our family of four. There is no fire pit. We brought a steel fire pit and set it up on the driveway to roast marshmallows. The bedroom upstairs is the nicest bedroom for adults IMO. Our children didn’t mind sleeping on the lower level. I found it to be chilly (even though it was warm outside). There is a fireplace down there. Overall, we were super pleased with the cabin; the property and the cute little town of Cross Plains. I would definitely recommend the town and the cabin to others!!

Extended stay worked well
We did a multi-week getaway during the pandemic. We enjoyed the quiet and the views and wildlife. The stove is induction and there are good pots & pans for it, and the kitchen is adequately equipped with other stuff. The place has several living spaces for spreading out, and bedrooms are comfortable. The wifi is a little thin if multiple people need to stream or do video calls, but that's part of being in the country. As everyone else mentions Jason is very responsive.

The place and its layout certainly have their quirks. But it is in a beautiful area. The house is comfortable and very decently appointed. Way too costly for what we got. Driveway impossible. Had to go buy grit to get up hill
Lighting was terrible. Couldn't see to read or put a puzzle together at night. No TV available, only Roku for Hulu and Netflix. Wrong cable for DVD player. Could only watch movies in black and white. Kitchen very sparsely furnished. Very awkward layout of rooms Had to walk food through living room to get from kitchen to dining table. Step down to living room and sun room very dangerous. Need to have some kind of reflective strips. I could go on and on. This was a yearly winter weekend with siblings and spouses which is supposed to be relaxing. Instead the men were outside shoveling and spreading sand, grit and Ash Every time we left it was a struggle to leave and get back in. We have been going on these weekends for 14 years and this was the worst place we have stayed . We will not be returning.

Bunni, thank you for the feedback - we can always improve and the suggestions of our valued guests are always appreciated. I'm sorry that the weather was horrible during the time of your stay (2 feet of snow with 1/4" of ice in between - I'm not sure what else we could have done to make the driveway more manageable at that point in time. We were more than happy to reimburse you for the cost of the grit that you purchased. I'd love to hear your suggestions on additional items that could be added in the kitchen to make it more hospitable. We've added a few things here and there based on feedback from guests, so please share what you felt was missing. Also, I'm sorry you didn't notice in the listing that we don't offer cable tv. Given the remote location and hundreds of trees, we just cannot get cable or satellite service. I wish I would have known about the DVD player not working correctly. I would have gladly stopped out to fix it (and will make sure the cords are fixed now that I know). I also wish you had mentioned the lighting during your stay. There was an extra pole lamp in the basement closet I could have pointed you to. I will definitely look into adding more downward facing light in the living room (for reading). Finally, thank you for the suggestion for reflective strips on the hidden stairs - I will definitely look into getting those in place in the near future. Again, I'm very sorry you didn't enjoy your stay. If you have any other feedback, please feel free to reach out and share. I wish you well in your future travels.

Beautiful setting.
The layout of this home is unusual. The scenery is beautiful. If you want to be surrounded by nature this is the a good home - we enjoyed watching the deer in the morning while sitting on the back porch drinking our coffee. There are some unexpected steps inside the house that you need to be very careful not to miss. Not the best home for children, but for us (a group of six women) it worked.

Secluded, Wonderful Escape
The property was just what we needed for a cousins reunion. We are a group of ladies in our 60's and it worked for us. It has many upgrades and is an excellent retreat in the summer. The property manager, Jason, is great and attentive to every request.

Wooded Escape
The house offered everything we were looking for to spend a quiet weekend up north. It was centrally located between our planned visits to New Glarus and Taliesin. The fireplace took away the chill of a rainy fall weekend and we enjoyed playing games and dinners looking out over the beautiful woods. Not too often do you get to spend a breakfast watching deer forage and foxes as well. Great time was had by all.

We enjoyed our stay at the cabin. It is were spacious and airy , full of light.
It comfortably sleeps 6 people with separate bathrooms and showers. 4 th bedroom is very small. Beds were comfortable but mattresses and pillows need an upgrade and kitchen could be better stacked( only 5 coffee mugs and no wine glasses or coffee grinder) With minor adjustments this place could become spectacular!

We had a wonderful time. The house provided enough space for us to enjoy our big group.
We loved our time at the house. Our contact Jason, was very friendly and accommodating, however we had a problem getting the lockbox code and our checkout time was 10am when all the correspondence we read indicated checkout was at noon. Otherwise everything was perfect, we really enjoyed it!
