Unique Experience and Getaway
My family of three (2 adults and one 3yo) had the best time at the cottage. As we approached upon arrival we had breathtaking views of fields and fields of pink-blossomed peach trees. The view from the cottage itself was beautiful, with mountains in the distance and a peaceful farm in the forefront. Highlights were having breakfast views of the llamas each morning and seeing the trains go by daily. The home itself was very comfortable and the fireplace a bonus. We hope to return in warmer weather to take advantage of the porch, grill, and firepit…and of course to see the turkeys! The hosts were great! Location was central to vineyards, kid activities (check out Pickle Meadow Farms!), orchards, and more.

Wonderful stay at the farm
We had a really nice time at this beautiful farm. It's a unique experience being able to stay on a working turkey farm with guard llamas and we enjoyed it thoroughly. The property is centrally located to much of the Shenandoah National Park area, making it a convenient base camp. The hosts are wonderful people and I highly recommend this location.

Super cute
Super cute cottage on a beautiful property with a great Mountain View. Clean, cute, close to 151 trail, and a minute down the road from a peach orchard. Water pressure in kitchen was a little low but no problems in the bathroom. Beds were comfortable, would 100% stay again!

Our stay at the Birds and Bees Cottage was a nice surprise for 3 nights at the end of June while we visited family close by. We lived in Charlottesville for a long time before moving away and I was happy to find something in a location away from the traffic and congestion. The cottage is clean and has everything you need. Our favorite part, despite the rainy weather, was the scenery and quiet. It is tucked away but still close to Crozet and Charlottesville. It was fun to learn about the Kelly Bronze turkeys and the Birds and Bees Honey production. We will definitely try to stay there again if the opportunity arises!

Beautiful Property, Exceptional Hosts
Birds and Bees Cottage is on a working farm with 2 Llamas and during April or May - November, lots of KellyBronze turkeys. We (me with wife and 2 daughters) rented the cottage over the Christmas Holiday as several members of my wife's family live in Crozet and we were there to visit them. Unfortunately, an unusual cold front hit the area and knocked out power to the mountain for about 32 hours. Judd was very quick to hook up a generator to supply the cabin with power and we remained very comfortable until full power was restored. He even gave us a supply of wood to have a nice fire in the fireplace. Further, Judd and Cari were kind enough to speak with my daughter about their careers as she is interested in animal sciences. This cabin is the perfect get-away for up to 4-5 people and is very close to the town of Crozet and many vineyards/wineries. I could not give a higher recommendation for a place to stay. Thanks Judd and Cari!

We spent a week at the Birds and Bees Cottage. We found the cottage to be just the right size and surrounding farm is serene and lovely. We would love to visit again in the future. Location is close to wineries, breweries, hiking and restaurants.

My family had a great time at this little house on a farm. My 2 year old really liked the alpacas and various farm equipment working in the field across from the porch. Great location for visiting wineries or just getting out in the country. We would certainly stay here again.

A really ideal place to stay. Close to wineries and a short drive (~15/20 minutes) to downtown Charlottesville. The animals on the property were a lovely bonus, and the views were beautiful. Would definitely come stay again.

Great little get away
The cottage was perfect for a get away. Great location and the farm setting made it even better. Beautiful view from the large deck. The cottage was well equipped, clean and cozy. Only a few minutes to restaurants, breweries and wineries. We will definately stay again.

Relaxing Rural Cottage
A simple place to stay - everything you need - no more, no less with stunning views of central Virginia's mountains. We ate dinner on the deck every night just to enjoy the view! Property owners and management were very responsive.

Love the Birds & Bees Cottage
What a relaxing retreat! The mountain view is so beautiful. We had breakfast on the deck every morning, watching the birds and llamas and enjoying the breezes. My son loved seeing the young turkeys, too, and learning about how they are raised. The cottage is cozy and has all you need for a peaceful getaway. The location is great! It's secluded but there's so much to do within a 20-minute radius. We spent a half day in Charlottesville, another day fishing and exploring at Mint Springs Valley Park & Beaver Creek Reservoir Park, had food truck dinner & happy hour at Kings Family Winery, visited Sam's Hot Dog Stand, and much more. We met friendly people everywhere we went and left with a list of recommendations for next time.

We enjoyed staying at the Birds and bees cottage. It was the perfect respite after hiking in Shenandoah National Park. We loved seeing the alpacas and turkey. The house was so comfortable and had everything we needed.

Nice house!
Cute little house - is just like the pictures. Nice quiet location and only 20 minutes from the C’ville mall and 5 minutes to King Family vineyard Nicely decorated - kitchen is well stocked with appliances and utensils (but, bring any and all food and food prep stuff you’ll need - including olive oil, coffee, tea aluminum foil, etc.). Really enjoyed sitting on the deck - great chairs and lovely view - and endless stars at night! We never saw the turkeys - but did see the llamas! One note, we didn’t realize until after we reserved that the house didn’t have central a/c, but rather room units in the living room and bedroom - if you’re a light sleeper, this may be an issue because the unit is very loud. (Also, nothing to do with the house, this was the first time we reserved through VRBO where we got email communications from a property management group outside the VRBO system. This was a little confusing and frustrating since it’s nice to have everything in one place on the app and from that same email vs keeping track of unfamiliar email addresses. For ease-of-use would’ve preferred all communications to come straight through VRBO.)

Magical
Having never been to the Shenandoah area before, we were a bit uncertain where to have our base. In the end, we split the distance between the amazing Skyline Drive and Charlottesville. This house was incredible in its views, the livestock, the porch looking at the mountains, the night sky, the warmth of its decorations and comfort of a very well-stocked kitchen. Our list of what we loved would be too long for this review -- but in the end, speaking to the owners made it clear: they care about people staying. And the beauty starts there.

Wonderful family farm stay
We had a wonderful time at this working farm property with our two young children (5 and 3)! The views from the cottage were beautiful, there was space to play, and the interior was well appointed. Judd, the host, was so friendly and kind, and told us all about the operations of the farm. It was too early for the turkeys, but we still enjoyed the (guardian) llamas and cows. Crozet is a great location, with a few restaurants in town, lots of wineries/breweries, and access to family friendly-hikes.

Fun on the farm
Family of four with an 8 year old and 3 year old. The kids loved it, we had multiple discussions with the Llamas Sequoia and Silk Buttons. The cottage was about 15 to 20 minutes to everything, Monticello, UVA, downtown Charlottesville, breweries, vineyards and Appalachian trail hiking. The views from the patio were beautiful and the night sky was great for looking at stars. We are already looking at weekend dates for the fall to return and go apple picking.

Love the llamas
A wonderful cottage, beautiful setting on a working farm. A quiet paradise. The only critique is that the kitchen and bathrooms, not well stocked. But overall the place is wonderful.

Family fun on the farm
We loved our stay at the Birds and the Bees Cottage! Perfect size for us and our 2 year old son. Good front yard to run around, plus animals for him to look at on the farm. Conveniently located near Charlottesville, hiking paths, and a peach orchard. WIFI with a big tv for my son to watch some tv shows in the downtime. Well-equipped kitchen and we enjoyed eating dinner outside and rocking in the rocking chairs on the deck. And, the owners were so nice! We will definitely be back some time in the future.

Farm Vacation
What an incredible place! The cottage is set in one of the most beautiful places I have ever been yet a short 10 minutes from grocery stores and restaurants. There are so many places to explore nearby too- orchards, wineries, etc. The owners are kind and welcoming and the house is exactly as pictured. We cannot wait to return in the future!
