Peaceful, beautiful, well-managed
I'm home now in New England, & woke up this morning still expecting to open my front door to see the sun rise over the marsh, & to walk out onto the boardwalk over it. The sun was shining, the birds were calling, & I was filled with peace & the expectation of another relaxing day. Relaxation is the key word here! I went on a few excellent walks & runs, read, watched a movie, cooked...just what I was looking for. Bonuses were the fire pit & the supplies to make s'mores, stars, the treats that greeted us upon arrival, & the helpfulness of the staff. Visit the Fort King George! Close by, and interesting. My 14 year old also managed to enjoy himself, but he wished the forest were more vast for long stretches of exploration; the "nature trails" are quite short. The marsh was so beautiful, we all wished that we could have taken a little boat out, but there didn't seem to be a way to do that. The pool was not warm enough for swimming in December, & we longed for a hot tub. The tub in the cabin is a claw one & not the ideal shower experience. I just learned that my husband took the bags of coffee home—he missed the little card indicating that we'll be charged for them! Also--if you like organic food, don't wait until you get to Darien to stock up. If you like fried food, you'll have plenty of options for dining out! These are not complaints, just little things to be aware of. Overall we loved our stay and would return.

Incredible Property
My husband and I had an incredible weekend at Emma’s Driftwood Farm! The property was immaculate. We stayed in the Rum Runner cabin and it was the perfect space for us. We took full advantage of all the property had to offer and utilized the bikes, fishing gear, pool, seafood boil pot, crab pots and grill- this property has it all! We did a fishing charter with Mad Shark and highly recommend, they will pick you up from the dock! We will absolutely be back for another weekend away at Emma’s!

Georgia Marsh Paradise
Our stay at Emma’s Driftwood Farm was one of the most peaceful we’ve had. We were the only ones on the property and spent the days fishing, swimming, and enjoying the wild diversity the marsh has to offer. Our little cabin was pristine and perfect. Thank you to the entire staff who make their guests feel so welcome and cared for. There is healing happening in this former plantation.

Perfect remote cabin
We really enjoyed the cabin for our long weekend. The size was perfect for our family of four. The master bed was actually very comfortable for a rental. The owners left perfect little extras for us that made our stay a little bit "sweeter". The amenities include were prefect for a southern weekend. It was like living in a Nicholas Sparks book for the weekend.

Serenity and nature at its finest
Absolutely stunning location and the cabin was more lovely than we even expected. The grounds are kept impeccably, kudos to the groundskeepers! This trip was exactly what we wanted it to be for relaxation and escape and as nature lovers, it hit the nail on the head! The only issue we have is that we couldn’t stay longer. I don’t even have enough time Or space to go into the attention to detail! Just wow! We will definitely be back for another visit…with a longer stay!

Our place to relax.
My husband and I first stayed at Rum Runner’s Cabin back in October when we retired. We could not wait to go back! It is the perfect place to relax. The cabin is cozy and the outside amenities (fire pit, cooking area and dock access) are great for relaxing outside. We did have an issue with the internet but, Hunter quickly offered us a fantastic solution! The whole farm is beautiful and the remote location is perfect for us.

Tremendous stay!
We had an amazing experience staying at the Rum Runner house. The house was better than expected. We had two adults and two teens staying here which made it a little tight (which we knew about ahead of time) but we spent so much time outdoors that it was never an issue at all. They provided everything imaginable including fully stocked kitchen, beautiful bathroom, fishing poles, crab traps, fire wood, etc. When we arrived, they provided a bottle of wine, charcuterie board, and even a dog treat for our boxer which was very much appreciated! It is an extremely peaceful retreat to disconnect but also offers good wifi and tv options. John, the property manager, was easily the best we have ever had. He went out of his way to make sure our stay was terrific and even took my kids out on an excursion. We cannot speak highly enough about John or our entire stay at Emma's Driftwood Farm. Thanks for the memories and we will be back soon!

My parents stayed in this adorable luxury cabin while we rented the Hatcher House. My mom wouldn’t stop saying how much she loved it! We had an amazing family trip making memories around the fire and playing games outside! Definitely book this place! We will be back soon.

A relaxing retreat!
We booked this cabin for a stay to celebrate our anniversary. We were looking for a place to just relax…and relax we did! We brought our 3 dogs along for the trip. The attention to detail, accuracy of the listing, and cleanliness was refreshing. We walked in and were greeted by a handwritten note, charcuterie board, honey, 3 milk bones for the pups, and a bottle of wine in the kitchen. Chocolates were on the bed. The cabin is rustic and updated where it counts. The bathroom and kitchen were well stocked with essential items We enjoyed sitting in the rocking chairs on the porch enjoying the peacefulness and walking the dock. The cabin is situated on land that is far enough from the water as to not be swarmed by bugs and close enough to the water to enjoy beautiful sunrises over the horizon and the calming scent of salt water. We look forward to returning soon!

Gem of a Property - Don’t tell anybody
Could not have asked for a better stay, hosts or property. The Smugglers cabin is rustic but completely updated and felt like a hotel in St Moritz. Everything was provided, bring food and drinks. If you have a boat this is the place to stay. Deep water creeks, intercostal waterway is about 15 min away, launch at Blue Hall Marina (5 min away) ride into downtown Darien about 20 min up the may creek, honestly could not have asked for a better location. Property is absolutely amazing. 3 houses total if you have a big group you can have the whole place to youselfs. Pool will be done in Feb and this place will be a perfect mid sized wedding / event venue shortly. Communication from all parties was amazing with anything you need or any questions a quick text or phone call away. Seriously can’t say enough about this place. We will be back.

Breathtaking Views
We absolutely loved our stay at the Rum Runner cabin and cannot wait to come back soon. The pictures simply cannot do this place justice and the host was awesome and very accommodating. Our family spent time around the fire pit overlooking the water, fishing off the dock and even tried our hand with the crab pots. We arranged a private sunset tour on the night we arrived and also chartered a fishing trip on the next day, where we caught Bull Reds and Blacktip sharks. The best part was the fishing guides were nice enough to pick us up at the cabin dock since it’s super close to the marina.

Retirement getaway
I surprised my husband with a retirement getaway- I found the perfect place! We stayed in The Rum Runner’s cabin for 4 days. The cabin was authentic but, perfectly modernized. The cabin was on the marsh and we had access to a great dock to relax and go crabbing. The owners had provided everything we needed for our stay; from a fully stocked house to outside cooking to outdoor activities; fire pit, fishing poles, crab traps. It was a perfect stay! Hunter and John we very nice and assured us that they were available if we needed them. Just a wonderful experience.

Just go!! You won't regret it!
My husband and i spent 3 nights at the Rum Runners Cabin, The location was phenomenal, the beauty of the marsh is captivating. The cabin had everything we needed. The AC worked great and the linens and bed were nice so we slept great. The kitchen could have been stocked better but it had enough to make do. Hunter and John were great and easy to communicate with. John left a great care package with wine and cheese for us and a welcoming note. Darien is a very quaint town and worth the trip! Jekyll and Cumberland are not far away and worth the trip!

Amazing Anniversary Retreat
My wife and I spent one week at the Rum Runner Cottage for our twentieth anniversary. We could not have been more impressed with the property, John (Property Manager), and the overall experience. We loved being able to bring our boat and explore the beautiful coastal waterways of Georgia, spending time on Sapelo and Blackbeard Islands, and boating to Darien for dinner at Skipper's. We also drove to St. Simons a couple of times for dinner. Halyard's was amazing! The cottage was spectacular and well-equipped with everything you would need. The amenities were top of the line and the peace and solitude the property affords is a huge plus. We spent several evenings cooking our favorite meals on the charcoal grill that is provided and looking out over the beautiful marsh with the fire pit keeping us comfortable. If you like solitude, excellent amenities and a beautiful setting you will not go wrong with a stay at Emma's Driftwood Farm. We are already looking forward to our return trip!

This was one of my favorite weekend trips that we have taken. The views of the marsh were beautiful and the cabin was super well appointed with so many thoughtful touches. There was a house very close to ours but there were no other renters on our weekend, so we loved the privacy. We would absolutely come again.

Rum Runner Rustic Retreat
Not only is this property historic, but the land it sits on is breathtaking. From miles and miles of marshland to the trees that surround the cabin. Most everything is thought of -coffee & Smores, to fishing poles & crab traps. Highly recommend, 5 Stars!

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the peace and quiet and hidden elegance of Rum Runner's Cabin. The southern charm blended with amazing marsh views, comfortable amenities and thoughtful care from our hosts led us to one of the best getaways we've experienced. Exceptional stay!
This cabin was so comfortable and cozy and my family just LOVED it! We all enjoyed the little things and niceties they thought of. From wine and cheese tray on down to the smores! A great Georgia experience. Super friendly care takers that leave you alone unless you need anything. Great mid location between Savannah to the north and St Mary’s to the south. Worth the stay.

Weekend Getaway
We had a weekend getaway at Rum Runner cabin, and it has overall been my favorite vacation since my spouse and I have started vacating together. I have never been surprised with such amazing gifts. The farm fresh eggs were amazing while sitting on the porch drinking coffee. We enjoyed fishing out on the dock, and grilling with a nice campfire. Will definitely be coming back!!!

Getaway for my boyfriend's birthday
Rum Runners is one of the coolest places I've ever stayed. If you like a private laid back getaway close to nature, this if for you! The cabin is well appointed, comfy and beautifully furnished. The host makes sure you feel welcomed. Love the dock, we fished every night. Love the fire pit. My only tips for you are to make sure and use bug spray (they even provide some) the bugs are fierce. And bring some groceries if you don't plan to dine locally. Don't get me wrong, Darien has some good places to eat. Our experience was unforgettable. Thank you!

Great Property!
Everything was top notch...just like the pictures. Very clean and well appointed! Beautiful indoors and out. Pros: the charming aesthetic and lots of extras (from the “welcome” cheeseboard and wine, firewood, extra toothpaste and blankets) and the property manager, John, was very responsive. Cons: Lots of bugs on the dock if the breeze was still (but you are on the coast/marsh of GA) and there was only a claw foot tub indoors with a handheld sprayer for your hair (no indoor stand up shower option). Regardless, we would absolutely stay here again. The property was beautiful with large oaks and a long dock with fishing and crabbing supplies included. Luxury cabin stay
Okay, I am from the south. I know my ins and outs with southern hospitality. They absolutely make you feel special, welcome, and part of the family as soon as you arrive. John is very communicative and we instantly fell in love with our stay as soon as we walked in. Here’s the deal, We found the place to be better than expected and even though the cabin is considered just a 1 bed 1 bath, our family of four with our dog fit comfortably. The view was serene, exploring the grounds was a must in the morning, and cooking in their stocked kitchen was a treat. Black out curtains were a wonderful addition to the rooms because we arrived late the first day and forgot that daylight savings was the next day, we slept very comfortably. Rustic chic and a great way to enjoy nature with the comforts of class. Absolutely would love to stay again. We enjoyed fishing and playing games on the porch. It’s definitely Instagram worthy from all angles. The history behind the cabin and the property is fun to the learn. Overall, wonderful stay and so how much more than we expected.

MAGICAL PLACE!!!
Scores of live oaks on an expansive property. Acres of marsh. Beautiful river and dock. The setting by itself would be enough for a dream trip. But the cabin is super nice as well - a combination of rustic and comfort, with luxury accouterments (linens, kitchen appliances and supplies, soaps) and plenty of room to relax. John is extremely helpful and responsive. I think it is remarkable that such a stunning place is available to rent - it is what I would create for myself if I had the resources and imagination.

Our new happy place
We had the greatest time at Emma's Driftwood Farm. The Rum Runner's Cabin was perfect for us and the property offers so much more than we imagined. The cabin has everything that's needed from wi-fi that supported working on the road to the wonderful kitchen that feels bigger than it is. A vacation stay is what you make of it, and I think we made good use of our time: Sunrise and coffee out on the dock, saw a dolphin!, fished, crabbed, rode our bikes around, had evening fires and s'mores. It's just wonderful. There are rentals where you want to go and explore everything around it, and this one will allow for that, but this one made us want to hang out and enjoy the rental and the property. As much as we'd like to keep the place our little secret, I also want everyone to be able to experience this incredible place. A big thank you to John, our caretaker, for his kindness and friendship. We'll be returning to Emma's. No question.

Absolutely perfect
We had a great stay. The cabin was in perfect condition -- with dishes, towels, everything we could possibly need. And beautifully decorated. The pier was stunning. We'd come back in a heartbeat and stay again.

Highly Recommended!
We had the distinct honor of being the first guests in the Rum Runner Cabin at Emma’s Driftwood Farms! I can’t speak highly enough about the property! It was the perfect escape from all things Covid and politics and an amazing getaway. Property manager John was always available and attentive. There is much to do with fishing, exploring local history , hiking, birding and just plain relaxing! The only thing that would have made it better would have been warmer weather but that was out of their control 😉.
