'My husband stayed at Deangate Motel due to working locally. The motel was clean staff helpful in that they let him keep the same room when he extended his stay due to not finishing his work on time. The room he was in he could see his work van clearly and the carpark was super safe as it joined the police station carpark so gave him peace of mind .will stay again as a couple so we can explore the area locally which is walking distance to Lydney. Beautiful countryside for walking.'

'Room not aging well. Stained carpet. Bed linen clean. Towels clean. Shower ok.'

'Excellent scenic location next to the river. Amazing breakfast choices. Evening meals were always very good and sometimes exceptional. We would definitely recommend this hotel and would hope to return.'

'Tv deed het niet. Erg krappe kamer. Geen warme douch. '

'Pros: Convenience Large Room No street noise Good made to order hot breakfast included in price Cons: Rooms definitely need some TLC Can hear occupants upstairs talk and just walking across the floor so suggest ask for an upstairs room'

'Ideal for Chepstow racecourse. Not much else about the area without walking or taxis. On checki the weirdest thing happened they wouldn’t take payment and told me was a,ready paid for. Rooms we had were small but the bed was comfy. Rooms ok some could do with a lick of paint. Breakfast is ok I’m fussy about food so didn’t eat a lot just toast and coffee but the others in my party had the full English not so sure about paying extra for an extra sausage etc. hotel was very noisy on the Saturday...

'Obvious it’s a place that caters for wedding parties at the weekend and at this time of year no one else. Rooms are a little tired, radiator in bedroom didn’t work at any point. Lack of hooks/chest of drawers in room very frustrating especially when the wardrobe is full of spare pillows/duvets/fans/trouser press/ironing board and iron. Good amenities but no storage space. Hooks in room and bathroom would be great addition. Breakfast not worth £18 each'

'I was in a single room, basic but clean. The hotel does need a refresh, and that is planned for next year. There is a gym guests can use, and spa treatments are also available (payable) in the Serenity Suite, a separate business on site. Staff were welcoming and very helpful.'

'A lovely stay at The Speech House. A beautiful setting, comfortable room and a warm welcome. Perfect for a one-night stopover and a great base for exploring the Forest of Dean. Would happily stay again!'

'Great welcome easy check in and friendly team 😁. We arrived late after a long drive - the venue is an old pub with rooms. We navigated our way to the top floor room. As we arrived Halloween weekend we thought the dust and cobwebs in the room were part of the theme. 👻 The carpet around the bed and doors hadn’t been hoovered for months. A layer of dust was on all the light fittings and cobwebs everywhere - bed and pillows weren’t great and we could hear the noise from the high street, boy...
