Wonderful Home
We stayed 4 nights here and our stay was very relaxing and perfect! The scenery was beautiful in Evergreen! Udo, the owner, was very helpful prior to our stay and was immediate in our communication! The home was spotless and very well maintained! The huge TV was great and the king bed was nice! We had everything needed and we thank Udo for the wonderful time spent in his home!

My hubby and I needed a place to stay near our grandkids during Spring Break . I chose this place over others in Evergreen and we are so glad we did!! It was very nice and very reasonably priced. The King bed was so comfortable! Everything was just as pictured! It was more spacious than I expected! Super nice and comfy! Fireplace was a big plus! Beautiful views were also an added plus. The lighting was my husband’s favorite since he’s an electrician 😜 It has a warm, soothing feel at night. We will definitely stay here again.

Beautiful views
My best friend and I loved our stay in this beautiful property. The room had everything we needed, like towels, a mini fridge, dishes, and snacks. Everything was clean and nicely put. The views were amazing! This was my first time visiting Colorado, and all I can say is I'm glad it was Evergreen. We couldn't get enough of the snowy mountains. Overall I would recommend this room to anyone visiting Evergreen, Udo and Margarite were so sweet and caring! They made us feel very welcome.

Mountain stay
The property was just what I needed. I was in transition from corporate housing until we settled on our house in a local town. Although I didn’t stay mini nights, my extended-stay was great. The property was clean for kitchen lovely sitting area and wonderful views. Access was easy even in winter and enjoyed the drive looking at the lights during the Christmas season. I would recommend this to anyone looking to be in the mountains but close to Evergreen.

The Perfect Mountain Escape
First off, the Property Owners are lovely people who made the stay even more enjoyable. The Property is nestled on the side of Forested hills, where on our first day we saw Deer walking around, and a fox passed thru the next day. The location is ideal for getting into town- Evergreen- quickly to enjoy the Lake, shops and Restaurants. Also the Trail head for Hiking Maxwell Falls is very close to the Property. The House is Cozy, beautifully decorated with plenty of room with a comfortable bed and great Shower. Staying there will be one of my fondest travel memories.

Loved the decor
The basement apt is decorated very interesting and I enjoyed it. Many books and tv choices. There are people upstairs, obviously, but we didn't hear much as the night went on, which was lovely of them. I also liked the scent used in the area...smelled nice. It was too dark in there, even with blinds open and all the lights on., especially the kitchen/bedroom, located in the back where there are no windows. We brought food to cook and there wasn't any baking dishes/sheets for oven. Unfortunately, we encountered white tufts of dog hair, two large ants, a couple of big house flys and two spiders. As well as a glob of what appeared to be drying blood on the floor by trash receptacle in the bathroom. They just need to have it sprayed for bugs and cleaned a bit more thoroughly. Otherwise, it'd be fine for most.

This home was very clean and comfortable, exactly as pictured. The setting is beautiful. The owners live on the upper level and it was wonderful to have them so close to answer our questions. The power went out one morning and our host showed up at the door with a pot of hot coffee and a plate of biscotti!

What a beautiful, charming, and quiet place to enjoy a weekend! My boyfriend and I were in Evergreen to see a concert at Red Rocks and this place was everything we could have wanted and more. Such amazing hosts (who give good recommendations on hikes) and if you like nature, this is a great place to stay. Comfortable living space, fireplace, and kitchen were all we needed. The TV was perfect for movies after long days of hiking. Highly recommend!

Beautiful basement apartment, but too much noise from upstairs
Our host was very nice, and quickly dealt with an issue that came up while we were there, but the noise from the hosts who live upstairs was just too much for us, especially in the morning after a late night out for us. It sounded like they stomped around everywhere they went. Very nice people, but the noise was just too disturbing for us. It’s very clean, and nicely decorated, with a comfortable bed and furniture, and plenty to see and do in the area.

Get away
We stayed at Udo’s property while having an extended get away in Evergreen for a wedding that we had to be in. Udo’s place was so lovely and cozy for me, my husband and my 2 year old! Not only that, but Udo was so kind to be flexible with us in multiple capacities considering we were 38 weeks pregnant during our stay and weren’t sure if we would make it. We were thankful it worked out and thoroughly enjoyed the space. Wouldn’t hesitate to go back!

Horrible experience
Our trip to CO was planned around a concert at red rocks amphitheater. The week of the concert, we got notification that someone in the band tasted positive and that the concert was being postponed until a year later. I emailed the host, explained and asked if we could have a refund. He replied back with a copy and paste of the policies stating that we could have 50% back. I replied asked if he would reconsider, given the circumstances and he ignored me. I continued to send multiple messages over a couple weeks and have not had any response from him. No refund of any kind. VRBO has done next to nothing to help. I’ve even requested if the owner would move our reservation to the new dates of the concert - still nothing. I don’t recommend this host at all! Between the flight, car rental, and vrbo - this was the worst cancellation experience.

Here are the facts: The guest wanted to cancel the reservation on October 14, one day before the actual booking. Our relaxed cancellation policy states 100% refund 2 weeks before the reservation and 50% refund 1 week before the reservation. We can not be responsible for a concert cancellation.

Girls Weekend In
We stayed here for a girls weekend. 4 of us. It was cozy and comfortable and great for our low key weekend of movies, games, fresh air and relaxing. A couple more wash rags and hand towels would have been nice, but there were plenty of bath towels. The bedding and beds were all very comfortable. We ate in for the time we were there, so a few more cups and plates would have been helpful, but 4 of everything, was just enough for the 4 of us. Although being on the lower level of a family home, it was private and not loud.

Perfect Stay In Relaxing Evergreen
We came to Colorado for a concert at Red Rocks and were so lucky to have found Shadow Mountain for our 4 day stay. The accommodation are welcoming and relaxing and a great place to come after a day of Colorado adventure. Evergreen Escape
It was a wonderful walkout basement under the owners' house! Really beautiful, clean, and beautiful location. Just as an FYI, you could definitely hear the owners walking around and playing some soft classical music above, but you are in the basement of their home so that is to be expected :) They were not playing loud music or being very loud, it's just that the house has wood floors so we did hear their steps. However, in the bedroom we didn't hear them at all so that was good! Only in the living area. They were very obliging and gave us early checkin and late checkout, which we greatly appreciated. Everything worked great in the kitchen and bathroom - nothing was broken or not working well. The heated gas fireplace was a huge plus - we loved sitting and reading by the fire. My husband also loved the large tv :) Thanks so much, Udo and Marguerite!

We were in Evergreen to see our son and stayed at this great location up in the hills. The place was clean and comfortable. It had everything we could have needed. We met the hosts and they were very friendly. The area is very beautiful and it was just a short way from the both the Upper and Lower Maxwell Falls trailheads, so we got some great hiking in as well in the mornings.

Great Cottage near Evergreen
A lovely suite with European/antique furnishings and fireplace. We were in Evergreen to visit with our daughter and her children so we were only at the cottage early mornings and later in the evenings, but really enjoyed the time we spent there!

Awesome getaway experience!
We stayed at Udo and Margarite's place for a few days and enjoyed every minute! It was beautiful inside and the view on the outside was too! Everything we asked for, they were happy to get for us! We went there primarily to get away from our crazy, busy lives to rest and relax. We did just that! One of the things I told my husband I first wanted to do was to find a library, because I wanted to do some reading... well, they had plenty and a variety of books in their bookcase... I immediately found a couple to read! It was wonderful... we felt refreshed and recharged by the end of our stay! Thank you so much Udo and Margarite for opening your loving home! Blessings!

Girls Getaway!
We chose this property for a relaxing girls getaway and it was perfect. Very clean and comfortable. We loved the decor. It was like we went to Europe for the weekend. They also had a big screen tv that was wonderful when we watched movies. We have an amazing time and will definitely return.

You pay for what you get
Location was further than anticipated from town. Unit was cute but you could tell it was not professionally cleaned prior to arrival. Dirty laundry in hamper, broken towel holder, hair everywhere, kitchen counters not clean just to name a few things. Also the owners live upstairs and you can hear them and their dogs walking around through the ceiling, very loud. Besides the cleanliness and loudness, place was great and had a lot of potential.

We would like to state that this review is an exaggeration. Guests arrived 2 hrs earlier than expected. They came with their infant child which was not mentioned on the reservation as required. The place was perfectly cleaned. We asked guests to check everything and on several occasions during their stay we asked if there was anything we need to do. The response was always that “everything is perfect”. During the rush on their arrival a laundry bag was left behind. After guests checked out we discovered that the house rules were not obeyed. Garbage was left behind and bed linens not taken off. Also: We only have ONE very quiet dog.

Great property. Was centrally located for us to explore lots of Colorado. Trailridge road in Rocky Mountains, Lariat Loop, Garden of the Gods, manitou incline, Red Rocks, Golden. Located just a minute away from Maxwell Falls trailhead. Everything we needed for a week getaway.

SNOW!!!
Since I am unable to climb stairs, I needed a vrbo with no stairs——in the mountains?! Udo and Marguerite’s walk out apt. was perfect, however! I managed nicely with my two bad “bone on bone” knees. Their apt. was as comfortable and convenient as it was beautiful and warm, even the nights it snowed! And the gas fireplace was a wonderful treat on the snowy days, as was the INFINITY TV “on demand” movie channel on the BIG screen. They both offered extra help and services to me, which was very much appreciated.! I was visiting family who live on the other side of the mountain, so it was closer and more convenient than any motel/hotel. (And so much more spacious!). I wish I had had more “down” time to peruse all the books on the shelves! The large, easily accessible modern shower was a special treat for me. Roads were no problem for my forward wheel drive only, no snow tires, FL leased SUV and parking in their driveway was convenient—-more so if you are a competent “backer”!😏 Thanks, again for your hospitality, offers of assistance, and wonderful accommodations! If you stay with Udo and Marguerite, I hope you have a chance to meet their sweet, shy, beautiful rescue dog, Gretel!
