Authenthic place in beautifull Surrey
Very quit place, you can start hiking from the front door up to Leith hill and surroundings, good food, cosey rooms and friendly hospitality ! Lovely stay ... we come back !

Could have been cleaner (check toilet bowl), no t bags or spoon, kettle too big to fit under bathroom tap. A bright light outside the window on all night and a compressor noise all night. The worst thing was the outside metal stairs to get to the bedrooms, had it been raining I wouldn't have stayed. Food limited to what is offered on certain nights. The host was brilliant but his wife really shouldn't serve breakfast in her 'nightie'. Amazing location for walking and cycling.

The staff were exceptionally nice and friendly. The property was a 20min walk from Leith Hill. Food was excellent, room comfortable.

We booked at The Plough for a night while exploring the Surrey Hills. The welcome was warm and the staff super helpful and nice to talk to! The room was nicely decorated with good bed linens and high quality amenities. There was a little noise from the pub below during the evening but nothing to worry about and that stopped at closing time. This is a village pub but NOT a rowdy one! We dined in the restaurant on the evening and had breakfast the next day. All food was super tasty and good value. Do eat there if you're staying there as you will certainly enjoy the food! All in all a lovely stay and we would certainly consider visiting again.

This was a mixed bag of a stay. The staff is very pleasant and the food at the inn really was excellent. The room itself seemed to have rather less attention to details. The entryway to the rooms was rather cluttered with linens laundry bags which remained throughout our stay, and only about half of the lights in the room worked, leaving it quite dim at all times. The staff noted to us the problem with the lights as we checked in but they seemed strangely uninterested in doing anything about it and this remained unaddressed. We also noted a bit of mold in the shower and ceiling in the bathroom which shouldn’t be tolerated. All in all this wasn’t a terrible stay, but if you have other options I would suggest considering those instead.

Needs an upgrade
The hotel was very shabby but not chic. Initially I was given a small room at the rear of the hotel. Wardrobe non functioning, door wedged closed with a coffee table. Inside very dusty with someone else’s clothes in a carrier bag. Shower room cramped and grubby with mould around the ceiling. Bed was clean and comfortable. Water hot but not draining properly. After complaining I was given a larger better room but lights didn’t work over the bathroom mirror. Paint peeling off the ceiling. Bed very comfortable. Management apologised for the state of the rooms and said they were waiting a refurbishment. Breakfasts were well prepared and tasty. I was given a 30% reduction on my bill. I don’t recommend this hotel until it is given a full renovation both inside and outside. Not appropriate for the elderly or disabled because all bedrooms are accessed up an outside metal fire staircase. It was a pity because the village of cold harbour was very pretty.

A lovely place to get away, We only overnighted here, but we will be back. Very professional and friendly staff. Close to Gatwick but felt as if it was in some quite haven.

This was a lovely Inn, very pleasant and helpful staff, we arrived at midday and was able to check in straight way as rooms were ready, normal check in 3pm. The rooms were a little on the small side but adequate. The curtains in our room were hanging off the rail just needed some hooks. The wardrobe door did not stay shut but a convenient side table was placed there to keep it shut. The towel rail in the bathroom was not working, and when we had a shower it was not draining away so overflowed out onto the bathroom floor. The outside of the property looks a little tired, in need of a lick of paint. We had dinner there but 4 of the mains were unavailable as sold out earlier in the day, there was also no cheese for the cheeseboard option in desserts, but what we had very was very good. Steaks were cooked just as requested. overall we had a pleasant stay.

Foreign solo travelers beware, unhelpful staff
First off, this Inn is NOT in Dorking as it states on the address, (as I based my decision to stay here) it is miles outside of the village. The buses that supposedly run through the area do not exist and I was basically laughed at by the staff when I asked about them. Without a car, you have to order a taxi hours in advance and it is about 30 pounds to go anywhere, even a few miles. The staff was not helpful or friendly when I told them of my predicament. There was also a lack of basic amenities (hair dryer, iron), the WIFI was spotty and the power went out multiples times. All and all, a very unfortunate and expensive experience for a solo traveler without a car. NOTE: I have requested hotels.com to update the information to reflect the true location and they still have not done so.

Lovely little Inn/Pub. Delicious dinner and breakfast. It's not right in Dorking, but area is beautiful. We took a nice 1.25-mile walk to the Leith Tower.

A quaint and charming inn in a small village setting, a 4 mile drive south of Dorking (on a *very* narrow country lane in a dark forest setting). The room was small and tidy, but had unbearably slow internet, or none at all. Had to go to the pub to get a signal. Pub food was excellent, and the free breakfast outstanding. All in all a very nice place with a few shortcomings.

If you're looking for a quirky chilled stay in the middle of nowhere, The Plough is the place for you. Unfortunately not what I was looking for on this trip. The positives - the food was excellent, the room was clean and quiet, and there's a micro-brewery on site. The negatives - the dinner service was chaotic, there was a drain smell in our bathroom and in the morning front-of-house was conducted by a woman on maternity leave carrying a baby! It was all a bit surreal for us!

Wish I would have stayed longer!
This was an amazing stay. The countryside is incredible and the location is ideal. Our room was above the pub and it seemed to be just recently renovated--everything seemed brand new. The owner was super and the diner and breakfast was also very well done.

Lovely position near to beautiful scenery. The accomodation was attractive and welcoming. The staff were very helpful and friendly, and breakfast was very appetising. The room was compact, and the paintwork was peeling in places and needed an overhaul. Otherwise it was comfortable and pleasant. Probably a larger room would be better next time. We would recommend this Inn and love to return.

Fantastic 16th century pub with awesome character. The food is exceptionally good, evening meal was delicious and the full english breakfast was fantastic. Very good cask ales in the pub and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was very quaint and comfortable. Will definitely stay here again on our next visit to the UK, only 30 minutes easy drive to Gatwick Airport. Well done to everyone at the Plough, first class service.
