Great stay on a dreary weekend
What a fantastic property! We loved staying here and our family had such a great time exploring. Sadly it was a drizzly, dreary weekend but we had one nice day to go down to the beach and the kids enjoyed playing in the water. We loved the variety of porches to sit on and have different views and there was plenty of room for the kids to play indoors when it was raining. Overall a great experience. Thank you!

Wonderful spring family getaway
We had a great long weekend together! The house was clean, large with plenty of room and seating, and fully stocked for all our needs. The property was quiet, secluded and beautiful. We enjoyed nature, the golf cart, paddleboarding and campfire. Southern Maryland is a favorite of ours; thank you for making our stay easy, comfortable and lovely!

3rd time coming
This was our third trip to the Cove house in Drayden. The owner has been very gracious with us and has really made my family feel very at home at what is becoming an annual vacation spot for us. My family loves to play at the beach and enjoy the kayaks on the water. This time we also were watching seagulls dive and catch their supper. We had a BBQ supper by the water and watched the sun set. The property is well maintained and the house is in very good condition. The golf cart to get to the beach and back is a very nice perk.

Drayden Dream Property
Good sized home with everything you need. Beautiful property had a great time riding on the golf cart to the pier. Saw lots of wildlife such a peaceful location. Host was very accomodating and went out of his way to help.

Beautiful isolated haven
We had a great time staying at this charming house in a beautiful setting. During the day, we swam, kayaked, crabbed and visited local points of interest. The beach, pier and firepit provided fun and relaxation throughout the day, accessed by the provided golf cart. Great spot to kick back and enjoy family.

The cove house
The cove house is a definite gem. It checks all the boxes when looking for the perfect vacation home. Rick was an amazing host and was very helpful in making our stay as comfortable as possible. Great house for a large group or anyone who loves interesting water
We (myself, my wife, and our 5yo) stayed 4 days/3 nights at this property. We enjoyed the house, which is rambling, comfortable, and interesting, as well as the water features. The small beach was sufficient for our daughter to play on and build sand castles. The beach is a 5 minute trip away, using the provided golf cart, so it is not ideal if you want to fall right off your back deck into the water, but the drive adds a fun element for kids or anyone who doesn't golf on a regular basis. (Plus we spotted several deer and a bald eagle on these trips.) The inlet is perfect for use with the provided kayaks with a great combination of creek, hidden beaches/sandbars, woody shores, and marshes. You can choose any length of trip as the fractal nature of the coastline permits you to go on as long or as short a trip as you like and still enjoy new sights out and back. The house was clean and spacious. We cooked a full dinner (including a large pot of crabs) in the kitchen and didn't lack for anything. Wifi and cellular data were slightly slow, but adequate. Full satellite TV was available. Everything is 20+ minutes away, but everything that you would need for a vacation is available within a half hour drive. Between the beach, fire pit, deck, and large house with numerous bathrooms, and semi-isolation, this is a great place for a family, but would be a perfect place for a youth group, sports team, or other collection of young people who need space and activities, but not necessarily a bed.

Serene and peaceful
We had a marvelous time in this beautiful and serene setting. The house was clean and spacious and the screen porches were amazing! We kayaked, paddle boarded, swam and played in the sand. We really enjoyed watching all the wildlife and the goats next door (from a distance.) On the one rainy day there were board games and puzzles as well as sports and movies on tv. Definitely will return!

Great Remote Property
This is our second stay at Rick's Cove House. The property is unique being an old farm house on a 60 acre air strip. The river access is excellent, we spent hours on the pier fishing and crabbing. We bring our boat and having the boat ramp on site makes the trip easy, just need to launch and load around high tide. Rick is very responsive to questions and the house is very nicely cared for with everything you need for a great vacation. The remote feel of the area makes this a great place to take a break and recharge.

Awesome 2nd time at this property
This was our second visit to this property. My kids had been asking me over the past year if we can return, so we did. Once again, the host was extremely accommodating and we have a wonderful 3 day stay. My kids range in age from 15 to 2 and each one enjoyed the sand, or the kayaks or the stand-up paddle board. For a family vacation spot, it is perfect, as we were able to relax at the beach for hours with everyone entertained and happy. The house is neat and clean and has all the amenities that we needed for our stay. We are defiantly thinking of returning as this is fast becoming our family's annual vacation .

Secluded hideaway
Property was extremely clean and roomy. There was an abundance of wildlife (please do not bother the neighboring goats and peacock). Parlor is full of board and card games for family entertainment. We rented kayaks from Rick, he had them down at the dock ready for use. He was excellent with any questions and super nice when we met him on the property doing routine maintenance (mowing). If you need to disconnect from busy city life, this place is ideal.

Celebration by the water
This was a fantastic choice for us. With the owners approval we were able to host a graduation party for friends and family. We could not have been happier with the place and Rick was so very great to work with. The house, view, golf cart rides to the waters edge, kayaks and paddle boards, chill time at the dock,, fire pits and space to spread out suited everyone from age 9 to 90.

Perfect for a group.
We do an Friendsgiving every year, it’s always the same 3 families. This location was logistically perfect. Plenty of yard for the kids and lots of space inside so we aren’t always crammed on top of each other. This property easily fit the 9 of us and the master bedroom could probably sleep 15 people alone. The 3 bathrooms was a definite must for the 9 of us as well. We would definitely recommend this property to others and the owner was amazing with communication. The beds and bedding were all super comfy, which is always a must! This house came with everything we could possibly need. The boat ramp was perfect for our boats too. The beach with fire pit are gorgeous and CLEAN! I only wish it wasn’t so windy so we could have enjoyed a fire on the beach.

Lovely cove retreat
We had a lovely girls weekend at the cove house in November. The spot is really sweet - very private and quiet. We loved taking the kayaks out, having a fire roaring as the sun set over the water, drinking morning coffee in the living room where there are multiple cozy couches and chairs, looking for wildlife… it was very peaceful. Rick is incredibly responsive and seems eager for his guests enjoy their stay. The house was clean and spacious. The beds were comfy, too. Someone had commented about being disappointed that there were other houses on the property….I think they might have been referring to the neighbors across the street with the goat farm. We never saw or heard another person (or goat) and that other house is across the street so if you are inside the house or enjoying the property, you’d hardly notice it. We had a great time here and would return (but might bring sharp knives for safer food prep and some cookware since the nonstick ones here were scratched up). If this spot is on your short list, I say book it!

We had a great long weekend at Cove House! Spent most of our time outdoors on the beach, paddle boarding, fishing, sea glass hunting, and relaxing. It is a beautiful property and we saw lots of wildlife...deer, eagles, osprey, crabs, fish, goats, kitties. The home is spacious and has everything you need. Rick, our host, was quick to reply with questions and was so very kind with early check in and late check out. This is a great property not far from SMCM or any in town activities but feels secluded once you are there!

Amazing spot
Our family of five including three young children had the most amazing weekend at Rick’s beautiful property. The beach front and surrounding areas are completely awesome. We really enjoyed exploring in the kayaks and paddleboard. We saw lots of crabs, caught lots of fish, and saw all kinds of interesting wildlife. It really is a gorgeous area, mostly private, and just such a rare find in this part of the country. House is nice and big, older, clearly has been added onto over the years, but Rick has done a great job of setting it up and we enjoyed the space. The kitchen is well stocked and has everything you need. You’ll love this property, give it a shot!

Perfect Vacation!
My family and I came for a 2 day stay to the Cove house and everything was marvelous. We met the owners as we showed up about an hour early and they graciously invited us in. They were very friendly the entire time and made sure we had everything we needed (even offering to chop extra firewood). The house is in very good condition and the A/C worked great even on 90+ degree days in humid southern Maryland. The high point is the private beach. My kids got a chance to to play in the sand and enjoy the sun undisturbed (we did not meet another person in that entire area) and they could make as much noise as they wanted. We went kayaking in a small inlet off the St. Mary's river which all of my children enjoyed. My 3 year old gave us a great summery of our vacation once we got back home, "When can we go back to Mr. Watt's house again?" My wife and I are already tying to plan another trip back.

Great place
This place was amazing! My wife and I had our wedding here! We planned to have it on the doc but Mother Nature had other plans! Instead we got a white tent and had it up by the house….it was still perfect! The house was clean and very spacious! The master bedroom is huge, and has a screened in porch and a little deck you can walk out on and view the nature and water. The pier and beach area is super private, we were literally the only ones out there. This goes for the house as well! We fished everyday, and the owner provides crab traps. We coughs croaker, spot fish, and a few sea trout with night crawlers. We also steamed our crabs once we had a few.. and there are plenty. There is a live box attached to the pier to hold them! The owner provides kayaks for a reasonable price, I fished off those bad boys! There are two fire pits, one by the house and one by the water. The distance from the house to the beach is perfect, about a 15 second drive in case you’re feeling lazy! Plenty of deer and wildlife to see…we even had two peacocks visit us and it was awesome! The owner is nice and helped us with a flat tire. Checking in and out is super easy! I could go on and on but to sum it up, 10/10 and we’ll be back every year!

This property was exactly what we needed. It is very private and peaceful. Taking kayaks out on the water was amazing and we felt like we were the only people around. The wildlife was incredible and we loved hanging out at the firepit down by the water. It was a much needed getaway for our family.

We miss the cove already! We went with our 3-year twins and enjoyed a very peaceful week of fishing, crabbing, kayaking, and just playing. The house is lovely and rambling - we love the 3 screened porches and spent lots of time there. The beach is FUN and a gorgeous view. The surrounding area is farms (hello goat neighbors) and it's really quiet. Found some great little seafood restaurants in the area but this is a more remote sort of house and smart to meal plan ahead and just hang. We loved the area and would certainly head back.

Good family location
This location is ideal for a family vacation. We had 4 generations, ages 3 to 80 and everyone had a good time. The water area is perfect for children. It is calm and shallow. There are several beachy areas, and lots of shoreline to explore. We spent most of our time swimming, kayaking, and fishing. The location is remote, with a lot of nature to enjoy, and quiet. There is a fire pit by the beach, as well as another by the house, both with a supply of wood. We enjoyed cooking over the fire and making s'mores daily (there is a grill and an up to date kitchen also). The house is large and a little older, but charming. The screened in porches were a favorite location for everyone also. The owner is very attentive, responsive, and genuine.

Relaxing vacation with friends
The beach and dock area of this property is the star of the show. The cove was perfect for kayaking, paddle boards, floating on tubes and splashing in the water. It was great for the 5 boys we had ages from 16 down to 2.5. A picnic table at the beach area would be a nice addition. The house had everything we needed but could use a little TLC. The owner Rick was very friendly and helpful throughout the entire process. I would recommend this to all who enjoy the outdoors and are not expecting the Ritz!

Nice getaway
At first we were a little disappointed because in the house description it says house on 60 acres but does not say there is other houses on the same property. However it was very quiet and had a great time despite raining all weekend we were there but the owner supplies plenty of things such as games to play to enjoy yourselves in bad weather. There were several random dogs that showed up from time to time but didn't bother us any. Overall the house is a beautiful old farmhouse that I could make my permanent home.Definitely would come back for another stay.

Wayne, thank you for the review. While there are 2 other buildings on the property, a garage and an old airplane hangar, there are no other homes. Of the 60 acres, 50 acres are wooded and 10 acres make up the grass runway, fields and beaches.

Restful stay in a large home and property
If you want a holiday where you do little except laze and go on hikes in the area, this is for you. The wifi is slow, which was good for us as we needed the break, but people who want to do work while there might be disappointed. Also, there should be a set of chairs on the deck too, so that a guest doesn't have to shlep chairs back and forth from the house--it is quite a distance to the water!

Awesome property.
It's was a great weekend. We all enjoyed ourselves very much. There was something to do for everyone. Fishing, kayak, swimming and the kids loved running around the yard. Relaxing getaway
Spacious home on quiet piece of property. Comfortable beds and furnishings, new appliances. The waterfront access really makes this property - great dock and wonderful cove for kayaking. Lots of wildlife to be spotted.
