We arrived around 5PM for a 5-night stay on July 25th. It was 85 degrees inside and while unpacking we discovered that there was no AC. We contacted the host and were told to open the windows. At this point we were considering leaving the next morning and asked the host if they would agree to refund the remaining 4 nights. They refused. The home is poorly built and insulated, and the windows are small and do not open well, which does not allow for proper ventilation. Essentially 4 walls with a metal roof, so it feels and acts like an oven. There are no ceiling fans in the house. We left the windows open and at 1:30AM I went into my kids bedroom where the temperature was 83 degrees. They were lying in bed sweating. We decided we could not stay 4 more nights. I again pleaded with the host for a refund of even a couple of the remaining nights. They again refused. Thankfully we were able to move to another home in the area. When we checked out of the house on Sunday morning at 10AM, it was 81 degrees and getting warmer. A few hours later in the dead heat of the day, we were with a realtor and GC looking at a home in the area that did not have the air conditioning installed yet. Windows closed at 1PM with no ventilation and it was cool and still 73 degrees. This shows the contrast in the quality of the homes. I would have appreciated it if the host/property management company would have been a little more gracious, instead of being unsympathetic and unapologetic.
