Geniet van onze droom! De historische Buckhorn-lodge werd gebouwd in 1925. De afgelopen 6 jaar hebben we het gerenoveerd als een rustiek vakantiehuis, ideaal voor gezinnen, romantische uitjes of vriendenavonden.
Een maximum van 6 gasten (plus baby's jonger dan twee jaar) is toegestaan door de provincie San Juan (en strikt gehandhaafd).
De lodge heeft een nieuw gerenoveerde badkamer, nieuwe ceder lambrisering, een houtkachel, kinderen slapen loft, bubbelbad (met uitzicht op zee), fietsen (Ja! U kunt ongeveer 15 minuten naar de stad rijden - kom uit uw auto!), Kajaks, krabvallen, privéstrand, tafeltennistafel, barbecue, vuurplaats. Ja, het is rustiek, maar heerlijk comfortabel en de perfecte familie-retraite.
Niet uw vakantie rijden naar het strand doorbrengen. Ons privéstrand ligt op ongeveer 10 meter van ons 40 voetdek (zie foto's), die de lengte van de voorkant van het huis loopt. U kunt ontspannen terwijl u op de kinderen houdt. De uitzichten zijn verbluffend - sneeuwbedekte Mt. Baker is zichtbaar voor het noordoosten, Vancouver is voorbij Sucia Island naar het noordwesten.
Zoals vermeld kunt u op een van onze fietsen fietsen of naar East Sound naar de stad gaan winkelen, in een van de prachtige restaurants eten, de wekelijkse boerenmarkt bezoeken of gewoon wandelen. Omdat we zo dichtbij het strand zijn, voelt het alsof je op je eigen privé eiland bent. We hebben een paar buren, die allemaal prachtige, aardige mensen zijn.
We hebben geen tv of een landlijn, maar bieden draadloos internet, zodat u toegang hebt tot uw Netflix-, Amazon- of Hulu-service, en een videorecorder en dvd-speler met ongeveer 150 films om uit te kiezen.
Er zijn twee prive-slaapkamers met queensize bedden, een uitklapbare tweepersoonsmatras voor de woonkamer en een slaapkluis voor kinderen met kinderbedjes en uitklapbare bedden die 4-6 slaapt. Er is ook een vierpersentent die u op het grasveld kunt opstellen en de uitklapbare matrassen kunt zetten. Buckhorn Lodge is een unieke plek - dicht bij de stad, direct aan het water, een prachtig uitzicht op het prachtige Orcas Island.
Ons huis biedt grote waarde: naast de uitstekende locatie aan het strand, is de kosten van het huren van een fiets op orcas voor een enkele dag $ 115. Kajaks huren voor $ 25. 00 uur. Die twee voorzieningen alleen toevoegen meer dan $ 1.000 in waarde met slechts een paar dagen van gebruik!

This is one of those places where the house was so nice that we didn’t feel the need to do other stuff…! Most of the time we just enjoyed relaxing while looking out at the water. We even spotted a lip,e of orcas, which we understand is not that common!

Consider yourself lucky to stay at this place! Great location: not too far from town/ferry; located on an accessible beach to explore. We stayed for 4 nights, and it was perfect for our short trip. The host was very accommodating & helpful for us first-time visitors to Orcas Island. We are so appreciative of the Instruction Manual provided: ***Do read before! its very informative & will enhance your visit!** House was clean & ready for us. Lots of utensils/pots/pans for cooking/preparing food in the kitchen. Thank you for providing dish soap & paper towels so we could clean up after ourselves! All equipment, firewood, towels, outdoor equipment, whatever that was mentioned in the manual or pictured in the listing was there. Spectacular! Hot tub was clean & ready for use, easy to open close (first time home hot tub user). Kayaks easy to unlock/lock up. (first time kayaker). All communications with host was easy, prompt, clear, and professional. Thanks Larry, Michelle, Jordan & cleaning crew for hosting us! We hope to visit again one day.

We had a wonderful time at the Lodge! The views are incredible! The house was exactly as listed with lots of amenities. Larry was easy to communicate with and very helpful. The location was perfect, quiet and private but also close to town. Highly recommend this for a relaxing vacation!

We wanted to be next to the ocean and we were very happy sitting on the deck with coffee. We had plenty of room for four of us after our daughter and granddaughter joined us for one night. We didn’t get to see any orcas but the morning and evening skies were wonderful. Larry responded quickly to any questions that we had. Thank you for the lovely stay.

On a lovely cove with easy pebble beach access, an exceptionally relaxing location with a perfect covered porch. Perfectly located within a quick drive to the grocery stores, bookstores and retailers in Eastsound.

We had a wonderful time. The property is gorgeous and you can't beat the view. Spent time kayaking down the coast and cooking at the house after a day spent out exploring. It was a little chilly in the evenings so we used the fireplace quite a bit. Very easy to use and made for many cozy evenings. This place has lots to take advantage of! Wish we could have stayed longer!

The owners are very nice. I know the amenities weigh into the high price point of this vrbo. But with such a high price point, the amenities should be VERY good. The row boat is missing the pins that hold the oars in place (and they were missing last year we were came too). This makes rowing the boat almost impossible. The hammock was broken before we arrived. The steps leading down to the beach are very overgrown. Both times we visited, it just left us very disappointed considering how much we paid for this trip. .

We spent the last leg of our San Juan Island Honeymoon here and it was just perfect. Very comfortable house with amazing views and outdoor seating. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house is so close to town for eating and shopping. Also close to hiking at Moran State Park. We swam in lakes and in the ocean. Took advantage of the hot tub and playing games. While the house would comfortably fit 4 more folks, it is perfect for couples. The hosts were very easy to work with. While you’ll find many rules and the need to sign a contract, it makes sense to keep the peace with the residents. Truly magical space!

We just came back from a week stay at this property and overall it was a great rental. The location absolutely can't be beat. Nothing better than waking up to the sunrise over the water and watching all kinds of wildlife from the porch. The owners also provided a lot of fun recreational options - kayaks, bikes, ping pong etc which was nice. There was a fire ban in progress so we couldn't use the fire pit outside but that couldn't be helped. In terms of the house itself things were a little more rustic than I thought they would be. There was a fireplace in the main living area that didn't work and I was under the impression that it had an insert that I assumed would look like a fire but it ended up just a little dinky electric plug in log set that just glowed. Also, the decor felt a bit dated and needs to be freshened up a bit. Towels, sheets, blankets felt old and a little musty. Plus, it's a bit of a pet peeve of mine, but in a vacation rental you don't want to be staring at family photos on the walls. It made me a bit uncomfortable like I was crashing in a strangers house. Again, location can't be beat and that's really what we were there for. Orcas is definitely the best of the San Juans in my opinion and we would go back in a heartbeat.

Larry and Michelle are such gracious hosts (and also very fun conversationalists)! The place is pure magic, with an interesting history and stellar views. We saw loads of wildlife, including a curious mink! We were a group of family and friends and had an absolute blast on the kayaks and sitting outside enjoying the super-relaxed vibe. This was our second stay here and we are already planning/hoping for a third! By far our best VRBO experience ever. Thanks, Larry and Michelle!

Was like staying at a great friend’s house! The view was stupendous and there were all sorts of things to keep us entertained (boats, a hot tub, sitting on the deck, watching movies!). Everything was so well thought through and appointed. The bedrooms might be lacking in a bit of privacy if you were to go with a group of couples. The third bedroom is a loft with twin beds that is open to the living room. But we had the best time and can’t wait to go back!

The property was accurately listed and presented. Our family had a great week and spent 90% of our time outdoors on the island, in the backyard, and along the water. I was really impressed with all the little things that are there and well stocked for your use during the week.....everything from bikes to tin foil. There were only 2 things that were off putting but they were minor and did not effect our week. 1. I, personally, would not hang family photos. It’s a beautiful family but if I am renting the place for a week, I at least want the illusion that it is mine :). Maybe take them off wall when you are not there. 2. The language in the packet about being quiet and behaving is condescending and off putting. Also raising possibility of being arrested if not following the rules is a bit extreme and overdone. I do not own a rental, however, and I assume something has happened in the past to necessitate that which is unfortunate. 3. I would have the trash guys give a heads up to the renters before he arrives. Walking into the kitchen and seeing some stranger in the entryway was surprising. All in all though...a great week and a spectacular location to be for our vacation. We would gladly rent here again

This was our second trip to Buckhorn Lodge. It's such an incredible spot. The full deck is just perfect to sit on and stare at the unbeatable view. The inside is great as well. There's plenty of space for everyone, and all the amenities you'd ever need. Larry clearly cares deeply about the experience of his guests. From his responsiveness in communication, to providing bikes and kayaks, to the improvements over the years. Thank you, Larry! Can't wait to come back!

A family birthday celebration for several generations brought us to this idyllic location. Everything you could possible need is supplied for you. All ages (from 5 to 75) had a great time playing on the beach, riding bikes, soaking in the hot tub and just chillin with an adult beverage. Overall, a vacation for the memory books. Larry was very responsive to any questions that came up. We voted to do it all over again next year. Thanks Larry!

We shared the space with one other family - 4 adults and 4 kids. The children ranged in ages from 4 to 9. We so appreciated the access to kayaks, bikes, the ping pong table... The views were unreal. While the parents relaxed, the children played! We'd definitley come back.
