  • Moderne vakantiecabine Ontworpen door de bekroonde, architect van Pacific Northwest Geoff Prentiss (gebouwd in 2007). Eenvoudige, maar elegante woning. Ga terug van de kustlijn om de natuurlijke schoonheid van de site te behouden. Intieme, maar dynamische residentie die de schoonheid van de site en de levensstijl van de San Juan-eilanden weerspiegelt. Romantisch paar uitje of ideaal toevluchtsoord voor creatieve inspiratie. Perfect voor liefhebbers van kunst, architectuur, natuur. Geweldig voor degenen die graag koken. (Viking Range, goed gevuld kookgerei, glaswerk, enz.). Gewelfd plafond van inheemse spar, op maat gemaakt freeswerk. Veel kleine ramen die speels door het hele huis zijn verspreid, vergroten de verbinding tussen het gezellige interieur en het uitzicht op het water en het bos buiten. Mooi spel van licht en schaduwen van de omliggende bomen overal. Grote, centrale ruimte met een gezellige zithoek met open haard, eettafel en open, gastronomische keuken. Eetkamerdeuren openen naar een groot dek dat over de lengte van de cabine loopt en de verbinding van het interieur met de buitenkant versterkt.

    Overdekte buitenhaard biedt gelegenheid om te genieten van avonden bij het vuur. Bij koeler weer geeft de open haard veel warmte af voor knuffelen op de bank met Pendleton-dekens en een glas wijn of een warme toddy. Gedurende de dag, perfecte plek om te zitten en te lezen, te luisteren naar de inheemse vogels, het geluid van de golven op de kust, wind in de bomen. Hoofdslaapkamer op de bovenste zolder zit buiten over het dek met kathedraalachtige ramen waardoor je het gevoel hebt in een adelaarsnest tussen de bomen te zitten.

Beautiful house makes up for the rest

When we arrived the code we received did not work, we had to sit on the phone for 20 minutes in the cold rain trying to figure out a code with the after hours help line. For what it’s worth, the help line was super friendly and did everything in their power to help. When we got in all the art work was missing off the walls. The nails and hooks were all still there, and even dust from where the frames use to hang, but no art (very weird). There was also promise of Duraflame logs (required) for the fireplaces and there were no logs to be found anywhere. All and all, the amazing architecture and denim setting made up for these short comings and we had a great stay, but there is much work that could be done to improve the experience.

Relaxing and beautiful home and setting

My wife and I had a lovely stay at this gorgeous well appointed house in the beautiful setting overlooking the bay south of Eastsound. We loved watching and listening to the birds from the deck. We loved everything about this home including the kitchen, bathrooms, and unique architectural design with so many windows taking advantage of the great views. We also used this home as a place from which to explore the entire island. We enjoyed the proximity to Eastsound as well as the ability to visit Turtleback Mountain Preserve, Moran Park, and all points on the island. I highly recommend this wonderful home!

Excellent rental

Beautiful house with a wonderful view. The deck with the fireplace was perfect. Kitchen was fully stocked with all of the necessary equipment. Awesome view from main bedroom. Loved it. Wish we could have had access to the waterfront, but totally understand. Thanks for a great rental property.

Pretty good, but not great

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The property is not kept up in the manner we expected. The windows were very dirty, especially in the upstairs bedroom. This kind of spoils the very nice view. The dish towels are stained and looked dirty, they should have been replaced. There is inadequate water pressure in the upstairs master bath shower, so we moved to use the downstairs bath shower instead. The living room furniture wasn't very comfortable. On the plus side, the kitchen is well equipped with pots and pans, and the dishes, glassware, and cutlery were all good. Also, the fridge worked great and the range was good. There was no drying rack. The beds were comfortable and linens were clean. The property has a great view, but it feels a bit cold and dark, up against a hillside. Even when the weather is nice, it still feels cold much of the day because the surrounding trees filter most of the sunlight. Next time, I would choose a rental on the west side of the sound just to get more afternoon sunlight. The first night we stayed was very cold, because the heat was programmed for 55 degrees on their Nest. There was no manual, so we had to look up online for instructions to reprogram it to something tolerable the next evening. The parking spot is about 100 feet uphill from the front door, so if you've brought a lot of food and luggage you'll get a great workout. The fireplace setup both inside and outside is odd. Instructions say you are only allowed to burn a duraflame log using the inside fireplace. The outdoor fireplace doesn't have normal depth, so you have to build a special fire (google rumford fireplace). We could never contact the property manager directly, only a person on San Juan Island, who would then relay messages to the manager on Orcas. The house claims to offer NetFlix, YouTube TV, and Amazon. But the YouTube TV service was turned off, and you can only watch NetFlix when the owner isn't already watching a program (presumably from their oth

We’ve been visiting and renting on Orcas for 25 years and this house has to be one of the nicest and best equipped. The amazing design and integration into the site are first class and the attention to detail and quality is above all others. The highlight of our stay had to be time spent on the covered deck in front of the outdoor fireplace wrapped up in the Pendleton blankets. We’ve already booked another week later this year. The only negative was the bed size.

When an abnormally large amount of snow hit the island a few days before our planned arrival, the reservations team went above and beyond to communicate with us to work through any potential issues with reaching the property safely. In the end, we did indeed make it to the cabin, and we are so glad we did! It is completely private, and has spectacular views through the trees down to east sound. The property is very well stocked, and the Sonos sound-system was a nice bonus. This cabin is much more than your average vacation rental ---- if you appreciate design, you’ll love Cedar Sunrise.
