Comfortable
The house was nice to stay at. Good location and view. The only downside was the thorough cleanliness. Cob webs, dust bunnies, dead bugs in the window sills and clothing under a bed.

Great house, great location, great view!
We stayed at Shore Thing for 4 nights and it was a great place to stay. The house well off the beaten path and feels like a little remote getaway. Completely clean, plenty of room, and well stocked. The views from the living spaces and bedrooms are incredible, we loved waking up every morning and sipping coffee while looking at the East Sound. Pretty short drives to everything as well. We will absolutely be back and recommending this VRBO to our friends as well!

Great Place!!
Loved staying here: the view was 4 out of 5, making hanging out on the deck a must - even all bundled up from the cold... Especially since the fireplace made it pleasurable going in to warm up. The island was amazing, so location isn't going to be a problem no matter where you stay. Furnishings and amenities were really nice, and the kitchen (surprisingly to me at least) had everything you could think of plus some - no creative solutions necessary!!

Location great - cleaning needed attention.
The house was comfortable and had some nice amenities in the bathrooms and very usable kitchen with plenty of pots and pans and kid friendly dishes. Some of the furnishings are a bit worn but usable. It was a good location and nice view. The house floors were very dirty and there were some other cleanliness issues which we reported but were only there for a short stay so they didn’t have a chance to correct them.

The house is nice well built. But not well taken care of it was filthy when we checked in, plumbing issues, one sink had the cold water unconnected. Internet unreliable to nonexistent The advertised path to the water was not maintained hence blocked off as closed.

So quiet & peaceful
Vacation w/3 generations - worked out very well. Lots of sleeping spaces & the living room area had plenty of seating. Kitchen had everything we needed. Hanging out on the deck was so relaxing & the yard was great for the kids to play.

Positives included a really nice view and a very secluded serene setting and a convenient layout of bedrooms and bathrooms. The house should have been cleaner, although I realize, because it is dog friendly, that may be almost impossible. Small aircraft airport nearby. House being built below. No shore access. No hot tub. Deck needs refinishing.

Beautiful Property
Wonderful home, beautiful views and fully stocked supplies in the kitchen. My family and I stayed for a weekend and really enjoyed sitting on the deck and grilling. It’s a really enjoyable place to stay and it was perfect for what we wanted! We did have an issue with entering the home when we discovered that the deadbolt lock cannot be opened from the outside with the key. The key just spins and spins… we eventually (luckily) got the door open after trying for several minutes but the key definitely needs to be replaced. We also noticed some minor areas did not seem clean… the refrigerator shelves were sticky and food debris was left inside. The wooden countertops were also sticky. We cleaned them ourselves easily enough but it did make me wonder if the cleaning crew missed anything else in the home. Overall a great home and a good experience.

Serene and beautiful
The property is lovely and well located (about 10 minutes’ drive to Eastsound). Beds and sofas are super comfy and the kitchen is well equipped. The fire pit is a nice gathering place and the view from the large deck is beautiful! We had planned on putting two teenagers out in the sleeping cabin but it is not really workable this time of year. No screens on the windows and mattresses are small, so we made do in the main house for sleeping. It looks like a fun space though, that they are developing.

Great house but faulty septic system
The house and view are beautiful. However the septic system is failing, toilet downstairs needed to be plunged often which I believe the owners are aware of since a plunger was sitting next to the toilet. The smell at times needed open windows despite the weather. Reached out to get no response, really didn't want to leave this review because if they could fix this issue the place was fantastic.

Amazing house-horrible management
First off, this house is gorgeous and so private! We loved the fenced area on the side of the house for our dogs and the gorgeous deck. Our kiddo loved the toys and board games and his own special window in the room where he stayed. I will say that the upper deck and sliding door are no longer there and they should probably update that information! We attempted to contact Vacasa MULTIPLE times before we arrived, the day we arrived and while we were staying and there was ZERO response. I emailed, called (they said that their call volume was high…) and even text the number they told you to text for faster responses (I text multiple times), but got zero contact from any avenue. I understand short staffing, but that’s ridiculous when you claim to have “24/7 support.” All the literature within the home pertaining to the house was contradictory on check out procedures as was the email sent from Vacasa (All were labeled as Vacasa materials) and they said that there would be starter detergent etc and there was not. The house gets 5 stars, but Vacasa customer service is a big zero. Thankfully there wasn’t a pressing issue or I don’t know what we would’ve done

Quiet and peaceful
Quiet and peaceful weekend with my husband, kids and 2 dogs after the passing of my father. The property is just beautiful and the dogs were in heaven. The view of the water and sunrise from the downstairs bedroom was breathtaking. Due to COVID we ate in during our three night stay with one exception and had everything needed to cook some lovely meals. The ping pong table was a huge hit and I taught the kids how to play Clue. The nearby town is lovely and there were so many choices for my landscape photography enthusiast husband. We highly recommend this house for your vacation!

Lovely property and lovely location. We had several maintenance calls on the dishwasher which ended up never working. (Didn’t work when we got there or after the repair). We did run out of water in the well and the operations team was very helpful in getting it fixed within 36 hours. The customer service group and operations group was kind and helpful in responding to us.

An unforgettable, wonderful place.
Beautiful location and a wonderful house. Really loved our time there. It’s nice and secluded with a wonderful view from deck onto the bay. The deck is probably the best part of the property. We sat there most of our time. The rocks down below the house were pretty cool too. There’s a trail from the back deck that takes you down to the water. Not exactly a beach, but it’s a cool spot to sit and nature watch. Definitely recommend heading down there at one point. Also, the property manager for the region, Luke, was fantastic. He was easy to get in touch with for any questions or concerns. He also went above and beyond to help me retrieve some belongings I left behind. Really appreciate that guy!!

Overall great stay
Property is nice and secluded, great views through the trees and the beds were nice and comfortable which is always a pleasant surprise in a rental property. Well appointed with respect to the kitchen and the wood burning stove came in handy when the power went out for a little bit during a winter storm. The property manager was very accessible and we had a great stay despite a fair bit of snow keeping us from getting out and about as much as we'd liked.

Nice place, yard needs serious maintenance
I will start off by saying we enjoyed our stay in the home. It was large enough for our family of five and a dog. The home was very clean and well stocked. It had a beautiful view that was partially obstructed by trees. However, the pictures of the yard made you think that the front yard would be a place you could hang out and sit. However, the overgrowth of grass, weeds and thorny bushes made it impossible to sit outside in the front yard. We decided to rent this property even though it was kind of pricey because we wanted a place for our dog and toddler to be able to run around outside and play. We were pretty much confined to the home due to the condition of the yards and the fact that the back of the house is on a cliff side. We either had to stay in the home or go into town to enjoy the outdoors. We were extremely disappointed in how the outside of the home was maintained. If we were going to pay that much we expected to be able to use not only the inside of the home but the entire property. Also there were no lamps in the living room that allow for reading at night time once the sun went down. When we got to the property we have been given the wrong lockbox code and had to contact the company for the proper code to enter the home. After our two days today I called to complain about the maintenance of the yards and was asked by a Vacasa staff member why I hadn’t called to have them come take care of the yard. I do not feel like it’s my job to have to call and have a Vacasa come maintain their rental property. I’m extremely Disappointed with customer service because they have not called me back to discuss my concerns.

My family and I had an interesting trip to Orcas Island, but the one place we had no complaints was the vacation home. It was beautiful. It was quiet and peaceful. It all had all the amenities. The kitchen had everything we needed. There were plenty of games and movies to watch. The wifi worked great. After we hit the grocery store, there was no reason to leave. That may be the one downside, once we got there no one wanted to leave, and we saw very little of the island. Maybe next time we visit we will see some of the island since my children are already bugging me to go back.

Nice, quiet, secluded getaway
This house was clean, spacious (plenty of room for our group of 7 adults, 1 baby, and a pup), and just a great place to hang out. They provide everything you need (and then some) in every part of the house. We also appreciated all the nice-to-haves provided (e.g. white noise machines in the bedrooms, board games, spare ping-pong balls, etc.). One small ding was the lack of WiFi; it looks like previous renters have reported the same issue to the folks who manage the property. It wouldn't have been that big a deal, except we were planning on using a WiFi-based baby monitor. We found that the modem needed a firmware update, which we did. But then afterwards, we had to re-activate the modem with CenturyLink, which we couldn't do since we weren't the primary account holders. We reported this to the property manager, so hopefully it'll be good to go for the next set of renters. The WiFi issue notwithstanding, we would definitely stay at this place again.

Beautiful and roomy but lacked cleanliness
This property was gorgeous and an excellent size for our family of six. Unfortunately, there was a rancid smell in the downstairs bedroom/bath/laundry area that we quickly realized was due to the washing machine. I think someone had previously run it and mold/mildew had grown inside in the rubber lining. We ran an empty cycle to clean it but some bleach really would have done the trick. It looked like the upstairs smoke detector was missing from its fixture and the dressers and refrigerator’s freezer needed a good wipe down. I’m not a neat freak generally, but for the price we paid, I expect a clean house. Luckily, as we were leaving, the maintenance employee and house cleaner arrived, so I was able to give the maintenance employee a heads-up on the stench and smoke detector. She affirmed that they would take care of the issues. On the plus side, the kids’ toys, games, and the ping pong table were a big hit!

Clean, comfortable easy living.
Very clean and comfortable house. The beds were great. New BBQ worked well. Nice washer and dryer combo. Did not watch tv or play movies from the collection, but was good to know they were there. Good game and book selection. A bit out of the way, but not too bad. The view of the water was obstructed by all the trees. Some judicious trimming would be great. A satisfactory value for the money.

Excellent base camp to explore Orcas, or just relax.
