Nice little getaway from everything place.
Nice place right next to the Moriane Veiw State Park. Dawson Lake has great fishing and a concessions the makes real great food. The sleeping situation may be a little challenging for older folks but it was a getaway house the our dog LOVED!

Great Homey Cabin
Perfect cabin for small groups/families. Everything in the description of the property is accurate, read through it entirely! Definitely bring your own water, the well water is strong. Quiet, peaceful area and not too far from towns in any direction. We went to LeRoy for gas, pizza, and groceries. Very happy about the cabin being pet friendly; I brought my 80 lb hound-mix and he did great with the size of the cabin, loved the backyard and the backroads were perfect for going on walks. The Moraine View park was great, but I recommend visiting when all accommodations are open for the season. Overall, great experience for a getaway, it was home away from home!

Perfect get away
I'm a little late with the review but we had a great time. Perfect location for a fall getaway and the state park across the street is a bonus! The autumn colors in the area were gorgeous.

If your looking for simple and rustic this is it. We loved our stay. The people were friendly and kind. Minor issue with internet connecting but that just made everyone put there phones down. Again fun stay would definitely stay again.

Perfect little cabin for the perfect little getaway
This cabin was exactly what my fiancé and I needed. We desperately needed a quiet getaway with our senior dog and Abbey delivered. It had all the amenities we needed, plenty of space, and was very clean. We loved our time here, we were so comfortable and peaceful and already cant wait to come back. Thank you so much Abbey!

Great getaway
Family loved the peace and quiet and view of outside. Great property and location. Friendly and responsive owner. Quiet neighbors, could barely tell they were there. Packed full of amentities. Close to town. Hopefully will be able to stay again soon!

Deceiving and scammy
There are houses surrounding this cabin. There is no privacy at all. The loft bed is really 2 twin beds so you end up with a gap in the middle everytime you sleep. I asked about the trail to the lake and received nasty text message snapping that the map was in the guest book however there was no clear path and it is not a short walk but a dangerous walk along a country Rd to even get to a "path". The water smelled like rotten eggs. The grill was disgusting. The shower was so small it was hard to use and then they put a wooden platform in the shower which made it hard to use because the wooden platform was about 1ft by 1 1/2ft and it was slimy, I felt like I was going to slip. The floors turned our feet and socks black they were so dirty. The door don't lock securely and the doorknob on the back completely fell off. On top of everything I received a nasty text message from the property owner using name calling and swearing saying my family trashed the cabin which of course wasn't true in anyway they just wanted to claim the cleaning cost to the trip insurance. I have never had such an unpleasant time. We were uncomfortable the whole time. Terrible 😞

In the property listing it states on the first page that there are houses on either side of the property. I empowered you to read the Welcome Book on the kitchen table which has a map to the lake, and read the map in the Welcome email and also take advantage of the 20 page book of maps, restaurants, lake info, and helpful hints for your stay. You never read anything yet are blaming me for trying to help you. You and your family trashed the cabin and the outside property, you didn't follow any of the rules for checkout, you left dog poop all over the property, rotting meat on the front porch and garbage everywhere. You are NEVER welcome back to this property. In the future please take the time to actually read the helpful hints, welcome book, welcome messages, and the checkout instructions if you are ever allowed to book a VRBO property again. If it was such a horrible time, why did you stay the entirety of the reservation?

Unique Stay
Perfect little place to stay for the weekend. Always love staying someplace other than a boring hotel! Loved that the 4 teen boys could sit by by campfire at night. No phones- just jiffy pop, s’mores and talk about the fishing tournament the next day.

Relaxing cabin
We loved spending two nights in this cabin! The best part was the back patio. I was worried there would be evidence of previous animal occupants because it's a pet-friendly cabin, but NOT at all! It was so clean, no smell, no fur, nothing. Also, even though it's surrounded by nature, there were no bugs! Again, felt super clean and well-kept inside. We would definitely go back!

Beautiful peace
This was just what I wanted for a work-cation. Wi-Fi was great for my virtual teams meetings. Super quiet peaceful location. I enjoyed the birds and squirrels. It was very rainy but the front deck has an overhang so I could sit and watch the geese coming in. I could see the lake off between the trees. So cozy. Oven worked great for a chicken pot pie. Had everything I needed for a peaceful and refreshing retreat. Looking forward to going back again in warmer weather to make my way over to the lake. Host was excellent.

Pleasant Surprise
My husband and I wanted a quick outdoor vacation near home. Knowing the weather, we were looking for something simple, but more than a tent. Boy were we surprised to find a well-located, well-appointed A-frame! Everything we needed in a small space...we are in our 50s and had no trouble accessing the loft, but others might...in which case there is a pullout sofa downstairs. Charming, quiet, just lovely.

A perfect quiet getaway from the city
This property was great! I needed a quiet weekend away and it was amazing. The state park was lovely and not at all crowded. I got in a few good walks, read a book, made a campfire. It was nice and relaxing. As some of the other reviews noted the neighbors are closer than it appears in photos but I don’t think anyone was living at the one house and I didn’t really see or hear the other people. Getting up and down from the loft was a bit challenging but I survived haha. All in all I’d definitely stay here again. Thanks Abbey!

A few issues I found critical are as follows: 1. The stairs to the left aren’t safe. 2. The smoke detector was tired in place with a string and fell when bumped. 3. The very large dead tree could be a hazard if it fell over. 4. In general the inside and outside of the building needs maintenance and upkeep.

The cabin itself was lovely but everything else wasn’t what I expected
The cabin inside is very nice, clean, and cute! The beds both loft and pull out where very comfortable which was very wonderful. Hanging out and sleeping was comfortable and fun. The cabin is less isolated than it looks in the pictures. It’s close to neighbors on both sides so it doesn’t really feel very private. The state park that it’s located by is less of a park and more of a blacktop road with camping amenities around it. The lake you can swim at is nice but “hiking” on a blacktop road that’s only a half mile loop was not what I anticipated. The property owner provided a map that we could use to cut through to the “trail” from the cabin which was nice, but I’m not sure if we were dumb or misunderstood the instructions but the “bump” markers on the map were no where to be found. We attempted to walk around to the main entrance of the park instead which was a mistake. We rented from a Sunday to Tuesday which was the only option I had so we got what we got, but the restaurants in town I wanted to try were all closed until after our check out time on Tuesday and the state park marina was closed when we tried to go “hike” at the park. Very unlucky and not at all on the property owner lol but There was also the start of a heat wave that day and the start of construction on the road we walked on to get to the state park on that Monday so that made for a very sour “hiking” experience lol. I enjoyed celebrating my anniversary with my partner but I had different expectations for this rental than what was described on the page.

Disappointed
Did not match photos in listing, property full of weeds, situated close to other houses, not as clean as I would have liked(dusty, dirty windows/screens), a lot of wasps around the property . The biggest problem was lack of air conditioning when it got close to 90 during the day. House didn’t start to cool off until early morning hours. I was surprised since there had been so many good reviews. I hope they can get it back to how it was portrayed in the photos.

Unexpected Find in Central IL
Great little gem about a 2 hour drive from Chicagoland. I stayed with my 2 dogs for an extended weekend to decompress. The cabin was comfortable and had everything needed for a quick getaway. The street was very quiet and within walking distance of Moraine View State Rec Area. Dawson Lake was beautiful. Super easy check in and checkout...really enjoyed our stay. Would love to come back in the summer to do some kayaking.

Fall getaway
Wonderful property, easy check in and check out. A small house, but big thought has gone into comfort and cleanliness. The location to the state park can't be beat. Our pooch was also very happy, and we love that he was able to travel with us. Abbey is a great host, and even took the time to mail back an item my son left behind.

Just what we needed
This was our first trip since being home bound by the pandemic in 2019 and our stay was fantastic. Very clean and lots of amenities like the extra coolers. The area was very quiet and peaceful. We enjoyed our walk around the lake and the fire pit in the back. Communication with the property manager, Abby, exceeded our expectations. She even notified us of a temporary road closure nearby that could affect our travel. We look forward to visiting again.

Great, quiet cabin
This is a very comfortable cabin that has easy access to walking trails. The baseboard heater is really powerful, so even on cold nights it was toasty warm in the cabin. I wish I stayed longer.
