The quality of the English breakfast is very good. There is a buffet (only cornflakes, jam, basic yohurt,and cut fresh fruits. No toast, bread,coffee,...) if we want something extra, we always had to ask. We saw some sweets on the buffet, but immediatly taken, and not filled anymore...

Love this place. We have stayed a few times and will continue to do so. The staff are always so welcoming and helpful. I cannot praise them enough. The room is always clean and comfortable with complimentary tea and coffee. The pub/restaurant has great food and service. It has plenty of parking for the hotel.

Charming, Friendly and Great Value
Stayed here one night before flying out from Heathrow. Room was very comfortable with separate sitting room. Considering you’re right on the A road, we couldn’t hear the traffic at night nor in the morning. Great nights sleep and comfortable bed. Discount in the restaurant as we were staying there as well. Would definitely stay again when we’re back in the area.

My stay at the Princess Royal was excellent and what I imagine anyone would want out of a stay in a smaller English town. The hotel itself was lovely, with clean, large, and comfortable rooms. Additionally the staff were excellent. I arrived extremely early because of tight itineraries around attending a wedding. Because of my early arrival my room was not ready. However, the staff went the extra mile to find me a place to shower and change when they would have been well within their rights to just tell me to come back later. That unfailing politeness and courtesy was present in all my subsequent interactions with the staff. The Princess Royal was one of the best hotel experiences I've had in awhile in terms of service, and if you're staying in the area I would strongly recommend this hotel.

Not our first stay and it won't be our last. Lovely environment, clean and comfortable room. Evening meal was very nice and the cook to order breakfast was excellent. All round great experience with friendly service.

A true gem
We arrived quite late, they had to change the bed configuration to twin from a double.. The staff were great throughout. In room amenities were very high end and truly thoughtful. Surprised at how well appointed the room was. We were on the ground floor - Slept well and didn't experience any of the road noise mentioned in other reviews. The breakfast - again better than one would expect. Highly recommended would certainly come back

Lovely boutique hotel.
Very clean and comfortable with some nice little touches. Tea and coffee making facilities, complimentary chocolates (3) and biscuits. Two bottles of water (one stil, one sparkling) and a bottle of beer. Breakfast was included and was delicious, all freshly cooked, including some great vegetarian dishes. One little gripe was the ‘spongy’ floor in bathroom. Shower gels etc we’re great quality. (Room 9) Stayed here lots of times; recommend.

Rooms were comfortable and slightly away from the Pub, which was good. We found that the road noise early in the morning was quite bad, but then realised we had left the inner sliding pains open. The following night it was fine. Service in the restaurant was a bit erratic, with several requests for water, and the wine cellar was not as well stocked as the list! Food was good though, as was breakfast, and we would stay there another time if in the area. One point that is not on their website is that there is NO food available on a Sunday evening.

Nice place, good food and drink at their pub. The twin room I booked needed to be re-arranged accordingly after we got there but otherwise all good. I think more of the booking info that hotels.com gathers needs passing on to the hotels.

We were made extremely welcome when we arrived at the hotel and everything was explained clearly about where we could park near our room and get to our room and what wa on the room. The room was clean and bed was comfortable. It was lovely coffee and great idea having fresh milk in the fridge with even a bottle of beer. Breakfast was delicious with a good selection and service was wonderful. Had a brilliant stay would certainly recommend.

Had a wonderful couple of nights here. Our suite Bourne was totally unexpected in its size, standard of furnishings and attention to detail. The bed was a work of art in itself. Made of metal but looked as though it was made up of leather straps and buckles. Fabulous. Everything you would need had been thought about . The staff were extremely helpful and happy to assist you. Would go back anytime.
