'On arrival could have done with better signage as to where to park as we ended up parking at Forbidden Corner. Also not easy to find Reception and when we did find there was no-one there for 10 mins. Room nice, dressing gown and slippers nice touch. Had evening meal in the bar which was ok and staff were attentive. Meals on the Sunday finished at 5 and bar closed which was inconvenient. We were informed no staff on site again until Wed. We couldn’t boil kettle Mon morning as electric went off...

'On arrival after a long day's hiking, I was told I'd been upgraded and was shown to a fantastic cottage at the side of the hotel. A beautiful place with a large garden and a fantastic view over the dales.'

'The staff were great. I slept well despite the rattling window and the waterproof mattress. Everything was really clean except the area around the door handles, and the windowsills. One suggestion for improvement would be to have the corridor lights dimmed at night - I was the last one to go to bed in my dorm and the room flooded with light as I opened the door 😬'

'Quick check in, we asked for a room at the back, we were given room 8. Nice room, comfy bed, pillows a little flat. Lovely shower room with waterfall shower, nice toiletries. It was a very hot day when we checked in, so the room of course was hot, we opened the windows. Had our meal in the hotel, we shared a ploughman's platter with a couple of extra sides which was very nice. Also bought a bottle of wine. We sat outside after the meal to look at the lovely view. We'd brought an extra fan...

'Heerlijk stil slapen. Schone ruime kamer. Gedateerd maar schoon. Badkamer oud. Wel een goede douche. Echt een herberg. Enkele kamers, weinig gasten. Lekker stil slapen. Buitenplaats (grasveld met picknicktafels) en wat speelgoed voor hele kleine kinderen). Heerlijk zitje voor lunch of borrel met uitzicht op stadje en oud kasteel.'
