De ligging midden in de bos, boven op de berg. Een uur van Yosemite Park vandaan. Super kamer met een balkon wat mooie uitzicht geeft. Minpunt: de kraan in de badkamer spoot v alle kanten en je moest eerst 5min laten stromen ivm roest.

Nabij Yosemite
Prachtig gelegen, dichtbij de ingang van Yosmote. Jammer genoeg waren er net op het moment dat wij er verbleven hevige bosbranden, waardoor we het park niet in mochten. We roken een verbrande geur en overal viel er witte neerslag neer (van het blussen?).We hadden dit hotel willen annuleren omdat we er speciaal kwamen om Yosemite te bezoeken. Maar het hotel week niet, er kon niet gratis geannuleerd worden. Jammer! Hotel.op zich wel leuk, in de typische stijl, maar jammer de kosten voor annuleren, was niet zo goedkoop, zeker in deze omstandigheden.

Narrow Gauge Inn
Prima hotel als uitvalbasis voor Yosemite Park. We hebben twee verschillende kamers gehad, omdat ik twee verschillende reserveringen had gemaakt met enige tijd ertussen. Dus we moesten verhuizen van kamer. De eerste kamer was prima. Prima bed. Douche was redelijk, kon beter. Ontbijt viel tegen. Continental breakfast is in mijn ogen wat anders. We kregen verse wafels, muffins en we konden boterhammen roosteren of bagels. Beleg was alleen jam en kaasspread. Geen eieren of hartig beleg. Vriendelijk personeel. De tweede kamer vond ik minder. Bed was niet zo goed als in de eerste kamer en de kamer was ook minder groot en ouderwetser.

Unfortunately, there was an issue during our stay, but the staff was incredibly polite and did their best to resolve the situation. Would highly recommend eating at the onsite restaurant, Aroma Tavern and Buffalo Bar. The staff is professional and the food is incredibly delicious. You will have a nice view of the mountains if you're seated next to the window. Order the homemade chocolate cake if it is available during your meal, you will not regret it. The proximity of the property to the south entrance of Yosemite National Park (about a 10 minute drive) can't be beat. The property is also right next to the Yosemite Mountain Sugar Pine Railroad, a must do and relaxing train ride experience. Overall, would highly recommend!

I absolutely love this place I’ve stayed here a few times. My room had a balcony both times it’s super cute and vintage and cozy. In the winter it’s like a movie scene. It’s also relatively close to Yosemite without having to pay 500$ to stay in the park

The Narrow Gauge Inn is in a great location for visiting Yosemite National Park and is very close to the entrance. We stayed at the Narrow Gauge Inn 20 years ago on our last visit to California. According to the website it has since changed hands a number of times, but the decor hasn't changed. Whilst it is in a great location, it was looking rather tired and the room we stayed in looked pretty much the same as it did 20 years ago.

Halte avant Yosemite
Hotel plutot bien placé pour visiter Yosemite. C'est assez rudimentaire mais ça reste parfaitement convenable. La chambre est spartiate mais il y a tout pour passer une nuit. Comme souvent aux USA, ne comptez pas trop sur l'insonorisation ( vous entendez le voisin éternuer ou ronfler). Le cadre est rustique mais cela a son charme. L'entretien pourrait être un peu mieux fait , que la piscine est fermée pour une raison inconnue. A noter que le restaurant est plutôt de bonne qualité (heureusement vu qu'il n'y a rien autour). Au final , cela reste tout à fait convenable, le cadre et la proximité du parc sont des atouts à ne pas négliger.

Cozy and almost cabin-like. Great quiet little retreat close enough to enjoy Yosemite or Bass Lake and get away from all the busy areas at the end of the day. It is a bit far from services and the restaurant was open only with prior reservations, just be advised (wasn't a big issue for us).

The staff was pleasant and as helpful as they could be, with abundant challenges to overcome. The rooms are not clean, the sheets did not fit the bed on night one, the mattress was the worst I have slept on, and the furniture on the beautiful patio was in terrible condition. The setting and staff made the stay tolerable.

Great location, very nice people
Great location, people were very nice and helpful. Rooms are older, had some small issues like no tissues in room, light bulbs out or light didn't work. But you should expect things like that from a place built in the 50s. The advise they gave us on getting into Yosemite early was worth everything . Saved us so much. Had dinner at the restaurant and it was very good. Recommend.

Love the rustic-ness of Narrow Gauge Inn!
We really enjoyed our stay at the Narrow Gauge Inn. The staff were unfailingly friendly and very helpful, particularly with a slightly later check-out request. I would say it is a work in progress for making some updates, but being rustic is a large part of its charm. A better mattress would be a request along with a larger shower compartment, but otherwise, found the accommodations to be quite suitable for a visit to Yosemite. The onsite restaurant is a bit pricey but the food is very good and the atmosphere very nice. Most entrees are large enough to share, offsetting the higher cost. We would definitely stay at Narrow Gauge again, if the opportunity presents itself.

It was pretty disappointing as we hoped this would be really nice for nearly $200 a night. The staff were friendly, but the room was worse for wear and dated. Hair in the sink, half used shampoo bottles and one mint to share between two. A really cold room upon arrival which after a day hiking in snow was a shame. The shower was awful and the restaurant wasn't open and it would have been nice for that to have been made clear before booking as there was no reduced rate for lack of amenities. If the justification for some of the issues outlined above were for sustainability reasons, then I would respect that, but I believe the disappointments were a result of poor hospitality.

Hello Lucy, I would like to start by apologizing for the inconveniences during your stay. Our restaurant is open regularly from Thursday to Sunday. As for the issues in the room, we are a historic inn, originally built in the 1950's, this may attribute to some of the dated appearance, however that is not an excuse for any cleanliness issues, which I do apologize for. This is not typical of our practices here at Narrow Gauge Inn and we will certainly be looking into this and how to prevent it in the future.
