A unique and fascinating multilevel house, perched on top of a very old (more than 7 centuries) building. The house has three balconies, with amazing vews of the Duomo and other Florence landmarks from the top one.. A great place to watch the fireworks on St John' Feast Day.
You'll have to be good with stairs. Although it's listed as 4th floor, it's actually on the roof, and these are Florentine Rennaisance floors, so it's 123 steps up (what Americans would consider about 7 floors)
There are stairs everywhere.. The master bedroom is on the main floor and the very nice main bathroom, with washing machine, is only accessible through that bedroom.
Form the main level, it's down a set of stairs to the other, very tiny bathroom, but up a set of stairs to the second bedroom, up a few more stairs to the third bedroom, and up more stairs from that bedroom to the top balcony.
The air conditioning works quite well, although the top bedrooms can be a little warm during heat waves.
Small, but adequate galley kitchen, with a good selection of tableware and cooking utensils.
Your very gracious and helpful hostess, Maristella Pucci, lives one floor below.
The Yellow Bar — a very useful restaurant — is iat the foor of the stairs and can provide carryout meals if you want to eat in but don't want to cook.
The location is perfect. Four minute walk to the Duomo. Fifteen minute walk to the trains station.
We would definitely stay there again, as long as our legs hold out.
