Bij "Estate of Folly" hoef je niet te kiezen tussen uitzicht op de oceaan en het moeraszicht, omdat je beide hebt. Deze accommodatie ligt aan het oostelijke uiteinde van Folly Beach, waar het eiland aanzienlijk smaller wordt. Het huis ligt aan de overkant van het strand en als zodanig is zittend op het strand zo simpel als het oversteken van de straat. Terwijl een paar huizen aan het strand recht tegenover het hotel liggen, zijn het uitzicht op de oceaan en de briesjes op het vasteland nog steeds op grote schaal beschikbaar vanaf het zeer gracieuze houten dek dat gemakkelijk en comfortabel uw gehele omgeving kan huisvesten. Loop nog steeds naar de achterkant van het huis om een ander houten dek te vinden, waarvan de helft is afgeschermd. Dit dek opent naar een kleine en elegante achtertuin die wordt beschermd door Live Oak-bomen en grenst aan het prachtige moeras van het Folly-eiland.

Een onlangs gerenoveerde keuken op maat zal het hart van het huis zijn. Met een ruime woonkamer bevestigd, vindt u voldoende ruimte om te hangen met het gezin. Elk aspect van het decor brengt de Charleston-ervaring naar elke kamer. Bij binnenkomst door de hoofdingang, ziet u eerst een kamer met een 6-inch biljarttafel. Tegenover deze kamer ligt een woonkamer met toegang tot het strand en de grote slaapkamer. De slaapkamer is ruim met persoonlijke toegang tot het dek en heeft twee inloopkasten. Het echte pareltje is echter de grote badkamer met een wastafel. De tegelvloer mondt uit in de gigantische douche waarin je letterlijk rond kunt lopen. Het beschikt over drie verschillende douchekoppen, een zithoek en drie zijdouches. Natuurlijk, het eerste dat je zal opvallen als je de badkamer binnenkomt, is de prachtig ingerichte en ruime jacuzzi. Er is ook nog een slaapkamer, 1 ½ badkamers en het dek met uitzicht op het moeras. Boven zijn nog drie slaapkamers, een kleine zithoek en nog een complete badkamer met zijn / haar gootsteen. Een van de slaapkamers heeft ook een eigen balkon met uitzicht op de oceaan. "Estate of Folly" is echt rijk aan zijn aanbod.

Een bezoek aan het historische Charleston voor de dag? Loop de Charleston Battery, verken de markt, ga picknicken in Waterfront Park of maak een rit met paard en wagen door de Heilige Stad. Als er tijd is, bezoek dan een vooroorlogs herenhuis of een plantage, ga naar het aquarium, stop bij een lokale hotspot om de laatste roddels in Charleston te vinden, of maak een cruise bij zonsondergang in de haven van Charleston. This house has been our favorite one since we have been coming to Folly every summer for the past 10 years. It fit our family perfectly, with plenty of room to spread out and not be on top of each other. The front deck was the official hangout spot. We will be booking again for next year!

Great location 2 min walk from beach access, 5-10 min drive to restaurants/stores, 30 min drive into Charleston, well equipped house. Beds weren't the most comfortable, a couple of broken frames as root issue. But for a 4 day stay, not a huge deal.

We had 2 families staying here (9 people total) for spring break. The house is very comfortable for a bigger group. Plenty of space, bedrooms and sitting areas. Kitchen is well stocked. Front porch was nice to sit on (screened porch on the back is small and has a small table - would be nice if they extended the screens on the full back porch). Very easy walk to the beach across the street. A nice and quiet location. Our only recommendation would be for the owner to invest in new pillows for the beds, many were very flat. And maybe some mattress toppers as some of the beds were a tad hard. It’s def a very nice house with a easy walk to the beach.

Great location, comfortable house that was easy for all . Would definitely return. Porch floors and porch furniture could be cleaner and couple kitchen door were loose. Porches were perfect for gathering.. Wel Great views. Kitchen well stocked.Linens on king beds were not well fitted . Great spot for family fun.

The house fit all of our needs. Many comfortable places to get alone and read a book or hang out with everyone and play games. Location to the beach was easily a short walk, but definitely rent a golf cart, it makes moving around the island much easier.

Everything was wonderful from check in to the house itself. We were on a respite retreat as all of our parents have a terminal illness and this was just what we needed. Property managers checked in to ensure all was well too.

We loved the spacious floor plan of this house. The kitchen was huge and well-stocked. Lots of seating inside and out which was a plus! It was nice having beach and marsh views. The house needs a good deep cleaning and an overhaul of the beds. Better quality mattresses and bedding would make stays more comfortable.

This house is run down and was filthy when we arrived. The beds seemed to be freshly made and there were clean towels. However, the dishwasher was full of dirty dishes, there were spills on the floor, clumps of dust hanging on the walls, spills running down the kitchen cabinets, hair in the bathroom sinks and tubs, and the refrigerator was dirty inside an out. Cabinets doors were broken and the air conditioning intake unit rattled, keeping people awake at night. In the morning I called the property management company and asked them to send a housekeeper and a maintenance person. They did so immediately. The maintenance man fixed the items on my list. He was very professional, proficient and quick. The housekeeper washed all the floors, wiped down the kitchen and bathrooms. She did the best she could in the 45 minutes she was there. However, this house needs to be cleaned from top to bottom. In fact, the entire interior really needs to be painted. All the woodwork is dirty and there are marks and chips in the walls. All that said, this house is a great place for a large family gathering. The configuration of rooms lends to entertaining and gathering but also provides enough space that everyone can find a quiet place. There are lots of bedrooms, two family rooms and two decks. It’s about 2 miles to the lighthouse in one direction and 2 miles to Center Street in the other direction. There are ocean views from the front deck and march views from the back deck. The front deck is really big and has the perfect combination of sun and shade. The beach is steps away, just across the street. For planning you should know that there is no gas grill, no blow dryers, no dish towels. I bought a couple of pot holders and left them there. There are only two beach chairs and no beach umbrella but you get free beach gear with the rental so you may want to rent what you need..

The house was lovely, lovely location. Some inside repair need to be addressed. Light bulbs out, only 7 forks in the kitchen, cupboards broken. The back porch needs cleaning. We didn’t feel we could sit on those chairs.

Major Electrical issues on the first day but the team at dunes properties were quick to respond and kept me updated on when it would be fixed. Excellent customer service. Folly Beach is beautiful and fun for the family. This property was perfect for our extended family of 14 to stay at.

Our family has grown larger over the last year or two and we needed a vacation home that would accommodate our needs for space to be together and space to be apart. This home was perfect for us for exactly that reason, and we especially enjoyed cooking together in the spacious kitchen and playing games on the dining room table overlooking the marsh. After walking on the beach, which was just across the street, we sat out in the porch swing talking, and we read magazines and napped in the chairs out there. Walking into town gave us the exercise we needed, and I loved watching the sunrise from my bed each morning near the back porch. It is probably odd to go on and on about a shower, but the master bathroom was off the charts incredible. I have never had such a luxurious bathing experience before, but I surely will again when we return there next year. My family and I had a wonderful time together and this house was the backdrop where our connections were renewed.

The house was as expected. Clean, comfortable beds, cold A/C, and fast internet. We were there just a few days after hurricane Irma came through so the beach across the street from the house was in rough shape. But we rented a 6 person golf cart for the day and went exploring Folly Island and had great time. Would definitely stay here again.

Great location for celebrating our mother's 90th birthday! Wonderful front deck facing ocean was great for gatherings, games, and meals. Very large kitchen with adjoining den which was good for visiting and for group meal preparations. Only gave it three stars because the house was under renovations that were not quite finished which was inconvenient but it was still great. Once those are complete, it will be wonderful. There were only 3 baths one of which was in the master. So, if your group is very compatible, that will not be a problem. Beach access was directly across the street which was very convenient since we had small children with us. Loved watching all the surfers as well! The best way to describe our stay is...we will definitely rent this home again!
