  • Fabulous unit gunstig gelegen op de 6e verdieping, een eigen balkon met gemakkelijke toegang tot het zwembad en de luie rivier. Er is een kingsize bed in de slaapkamer en een stapelbed (met een nieuwe tv in de stapelbedkamer !!). Gebruik ook de gloednieuwe queensize slaapbank in de woonkamer. Er zijn twee badkamers waarvan één in de hoofdslaapkamer en de gastbadkamer bevindt zich op de gang. Er is ook een complete keuken met alle kookgerei en potten en pannen die u nodig heeft. Wasmachine en drogers zijn ook in elke eenheid .. Ruime unit is geschikt voor maximaal 6!

    Dit luxe state of the art resort, gebouwd in 2007, is een van de nieuwere in het gebied en heeft een aanzienlijke hoeveelheid diversiteit te bieden. De locatie ligt aan een van de beste delen van Fort Walton Beach, maar ook binnen enkele minuten van alle belangrijke bezienswaardigheden in de omgeving.

    Hoewel deze accommodatie zich aan de kant van de baai bevindt, kunt u te voet naar de baai gaan via de eigen Skybridge van het resort.

    De prachtige witte zandstranden liggen op een korte 5-7 minuten lopen van de accommodatie. Een mooi wandelpad brengt je tenen recht in het zand!

The staff was super friendly! This was a great place to stay on our vacation with a family of 6!

The Condo far met our expectations! The view was beautiful. We loved the location as we did not have to travel by car but could walk if we wanted to local entertainment and resturants.

Cons-The floors we sandy and filthy.The rugs in the living room hadn't been vacuumed because you could see/feel sand. The comforters on all the beds could use a washing/replaced. The carpet in the bunk room is well past it's shelf life. The couch in the living room sinks so far down it's becomes uncomfortable. The front door doesn't latch unless you let it slam shut, which is a safety issue. The doorwall did not lock either so also another safety issue. No hangers in the closet so you can't hang anything up. Fridge has no water maker so make sure you bring a big pack of waters with you. The freezer does have an ice maker but it takes about 2 days to get it back to full.The master sink took so so so so long to get hot water to wash your face with. The patio furniture is uncomfortable and not very accommodating given the small patio space. Pros: Location! You're so close to shops, grocery store, liquor stores, restaurants, ECT. Everything you want to do is at your fingertips. The accommodations are fantastic. The pools were so clean. No trash anywhere. Bring a wagon to take on the walk to the beach! The views were stunning off the patio! We will come back to Destin West because it's the absolute best, but would stay at a different condo.

The walk across the bridge to the gulf side beach was long, but nice to not have to cross traffic. From the public beach you can walk to Angler's or the Crab Trap for lunch and get a table right away and beat the dinner crowd. The condo needed some TLC and we reported the issues to mgmt: dishwasher broken, dirty dishes in cabinets, clothes dryer not hot, very dirty floors. Kitchen was stocked OK, could have used a cutting board. We were not offered a credit or discount.

Not a bad stay, the small things need tweaked

The overall stay was great! This is the 2nd time we've stayed at Destin West and my family loves it. Perfect space for the kids, great kitchen to cook in so we don't have to eat out every night, internet, view overlooking the pool and bay behind the resort, as well as being able to see the ocean in front of us. However, there are two negatives that were BIG negatives for us: the check in process and the cleanliness of the floors. During check in, we weren't able to check in for over 2 hours past our check in time. When we complained about it, they said "check in BEGINS at that time, it doesn't mean you can check in". My family and I drove 9 hours with a toddler and baby to get there, then had to spend 2 hours waiting because our room still hadn't been cleaned from the previous tenant. The second negative was the cleanliness that supposedly held us up! The floors were so dirty, our socks and bottom of our feet were black for the first 2 days until we cleaned the floors ourselves, it was absolutely disgusting. We have an infant who crawls around, and he was filthy every time we let him on the floor. If we're going to be charged this much to stay for vacation, then the resort needs to do better with staffing for cleaning, and actually ensure the cleaners are doing their job. Although we love the area, next year we will not be staying at Destin West for this reason.

I have high standards for cleanliness and I was very impressed when we first arrived at how well the cleaning crew did. The condo felt bigger than it appeared in the photos and the view was gorgeous. It was so nice to have a king bed in the master bedroom also. We did not have any problems during our stay, my only recommendation would be to add a couple of barstools under the kitchen counter overhang but obviously that's not a big deal. The ocean is crystal clear and beautiful and we loved eating at Rick's next door. It's an easy walk, a nice atmosphere and they had great pizza. We can't wait to come back, thanks for having us!

Reviewer Comments: We arrived at 4 PM expecting to check in stated on your website and I was told the room was being cleaned, at 5 PM my fiancé went back in to check and told the same. Both were later revealed as lies because at 530 PM another person at check in advised someone was now in the room cleaning. I didn’t appreciate being lied to twice! I would have been ok telling me upfront you were behind and it would be 6 PM before we could check in. After getting in the room there was still trash, I have pictures, and the toilet in the bedroom still had human waste in it and was clogged. Once we got in the room and finished cleaning it I had no issues and enjoyed our stay. However the dishonesty coupled with the poor house keeping made a lasting impression for future stays

However, as soon as we pulled up it was clear the place is much older and a lot more worn than the pictures depict. Unfortunately, the unit also was much older than it appeared. It was clean but the decor was stuck in the 1980s and the bar stools had ink scratched all over them. The patio overlooked the pool but, again, the pictures made it look a lot nicer than it is. The furniture looked like it was made from supplies at Home Depot. We are big pool people so we were looking forward to seeing if it at least matched the pictures. It didn’t. There was debris floating in it and the water didn’t look or feel clean. We decided to book a different condo after the first night and were very happy we did. When we got home I emailed Destin West and requested a refund for 3 nights (and would pay for 3 nights) but their rep told me since their staff didn’t put it in the notes fhat we left after one night we wouldn’t get a refund. This is a 2 star property so know that if/when you book with them.

Did not meet expectations

We have stayed at Destin West multiple times over the years in different condos. This was by far the worst. The condo was not clean - stains on the carpet, sticky table on the balcony, feet turned black when we walked across the floor & dirty dishes. The master shower drain was blocked. We called management & they said someone would call us the next day, but no call. We bought drain cleaner & fixed it ourselves. It is in need of updating, especially new carpet & paint. The complex itself was great & has a lot of amenities. We would definitely stay here again, just not at this particular condo.

Fantastic Okaloosa Island location with amenity options

For the owner's willingness to pivot our dates shortly after booking, I'd give 5 out of 5 stars easily! Very grateful for quick communication and flexibility. I love the location, the kids loved the lazy river and other pool options on the premises, and it's a great condo for a small family like ours. Destin West management is a little underwhelming, as the hot tubs were lukewarm at best, and when I asked for 1 additional trash bag, they said we already had been provided our single trash bag for the week. I also didn't see any Covid-19 precautions taken by the management - at check-in or cleaning around the complex. I'd also recommend that renters planning on cooking bring oils, seasoning, including salt and pepper as the kitchen provisions are basic. Having a variety of pools to choose from, including those at The Island hotel, with the beach bar there, and the close proximity to the Boardwalk and Gulfarium all made for a fun trip.
