    Gelegen aan Cora St, een van de meest charmante en historische straten in de stad, stelt Alte Friedrichsburg niet teleur in het vertellen van de geschiedenis van het begin van 1900 in Fredericksburg. Rijkelijk versierd met inheemse Duitse kolonisten antiquiteiten, dit is een niet te missen door liefhebbers van geschiedenis en ongeëvenaarde elegantie. Aangekomen bij het huis, kun je niet anders dan meteen gecharmeerd zijn door de vrolijke lichtblauwe verf en uitnodigende veranda. Deze twee aspecten zijn echter slechts een voorproefje van de wonderen die van binnen op je wachten. Vertakkend vanuit een aangename foyer, aan de linkerkant vind je een schitterende salon bezet door weelderige zitplaatsen, een weelderig oversized tapijt en mooie historische eiken vloeren, terwijl aan de rechterkant de eerste slaapkamer ligt, toepasselijk genaamd "de bruidssuite", die beschikt over een grandioos hemelbed aangevuld met de eikenhouten vloeren voortgezet vanuit de salon en de foyer. Verder zijn er een mooie tweede slaapkamer met een sierlijk houten hoofdeinde en een tweede zitgedeelte dat een beetje minder formeel is dan de salon, maar net zo prachtig ingericht. Beide badkamers in het huis zijn voorzien van wenselijke grijze stenen vloeren met een met een romantische clawfoot bad met handdouche en de andere een moderne inloopdouche. Het echte juweel van het huis moet echter de spectaculaire eetkamer zijn. Een grote eiken tafel met zitplaatsen voor 8 wordt omringd door uitzonderlijke houten vitrinekasten boordevol delicaat kristal en gepolijst zilver die elke maaltijd zeker een speciale gelegenheid maken.

    Uw gastheer, Glenn Treibs, is een bekende lokale historicus en is gratis beschikbaar voor zijn gasten om vragen over de geschiedenis van het huis en Fredericksburg te beantwoorden.

We liked the fact that it was close to Main Street, so that we could walk anywhere we wanted to go. However, we did not enjoy this house as much as others. I felt that every time we walked, the very packed furniture pieces and decorations began to shake, making us worried that something would fall. I would have loved to have a box of Kleenex and a throw/lap blanket, as the mornings were chilly. We always enjoy our time in Fredericksburg, but this just wasn't the right house for us.

Lights didn't work. Coffee machine didn't work. A coffee machine cost 15 dollars, it's one of the core things to have at a VRBO.

This house was disgusting. It smelled of mold, had mold on the walls and a/c vents. In the short amount of time we spent in the house, we had trouble breathing from the mold. We walked in, inspected the house and left. It wasn't worth risking our health. Cluttered and dusty. The pictures are very misleading.

If you’re in to Victorian style this is a good place to experience it . I enjoyed every room and the two nights there. I did not even leave the whole time I was there it was so much to explore.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! There were some issues with the A/C, but the property owners/managers responded quickly, had it fixed and refunded us for a portion of our stay.

Historical Charm

We stayed here for a girls’ weekend and loved it! We all love history and enjoyed looking at everything displayed in the home. We were comfortable and enjoyed sitting in the parlor in the evening. We all wish we had stayed one extra day to do nothing but explore every nook and cranny because there was so much to see!

In a word..."Ghastly". This is not a home to be rented. It is a circa 1970's Curio, Antique and Junk Shop,owned by a hoarder, with 3 to 4 times too much furniture it in. Lots of dust and dirt. There is not one comfortable place to sit. Backyard is a disaster, very poor maintenance. We like antiques, but this is ridiculous. I can't say "No" too strongly.

Back in Time

If you remove the a/c and electric, the house transports you back to the early 1900's. Beautiful antique furniture in the house, along with an abundance of period pieces. If you are looking to go back to the early 1900's, then this is the place for you!

Fredericksburg getaway

This was an old house, full of old furniture, and smelled like it. Beautiful furnishings, but way too much of it. Every armoire, chest and closet was full of old shoes, hats and clothes, so there was no place to put our stuff. The furniture was very uncomfortable, except for the beds which were fine. If you love antiques, and are charmed by old houses, this is the house for you.

A Place Left in Time

We loved our stay at the Alte house. We love history, we love antiques and we love charming. This is the place to stay to appreciate history at it's finest. This is a place for adult only company. There are too many priceless antiques for children to be around. We are so thankful for the opportunity to stay here. We will hold it in our hearts. Well maintained older home in nice neighborhood. Much of the house is unusable because it is filled antiques that are not suitable for everyday use. Listing does emphasize antiques, but expected more usable furniture.

Didn’t stay if you have children

My 11 year old and 5 year old were completely freaked out when they saw the inside and we told them we were spending the night, lots of dolls. To be honest, my wife and I did not want to stay there either. The house is very cluttered and has a creepily historic Victorian vibe. We ended up getting a hotel. If you want an authentic Victorian house this is this place to book. Beautiful but not family friendly.

I will start off by telling you I am a history professor and of course appreciate history. However, this home should be a museum. Lots of valuable artifacts. And the smell (musky, old). And the carpet. Yuck. The location was great but that’s about it. The place is junked up. Find a more relaxing place to stay.

We chose this property due to its historic charm that we saw in pictures. However, it is much more cluttered in person than it appears in the photos. The back sunroom area was lacking the chairs that appeared in the pictures and instead had a bed. The couches were incredibly uncomfortable and we spent most of our nights sitting on the floor. This would be very comfortable and cute with better seating and some declutterring

The faceless doll, the flexing floors

This place is a museum. Every inch is covered in antiques. We parked in the nice driveway. After that it got creepy. The back patio was cluttered in finds. At The back door entry we were greeted by a faceless doll sitting in a chair facing the entry. The other creepy dolls and antique furniture had me creeped out. The floors need a lot of bracing, as I walked all the nicknacks would clink and chime with the flexing floor. I couldn’t stay here. Was too haunted feeling for us. Some may love this place.

The pictures in the add are somewhat misleading. The house has way more furniture and 'stuff' setting around. There is so much antique collections clutter there is no place to set your own luggage and personal items. Even the kitchen had full cabinets and counters. Also, being two women traveling alone, not being able to completely cover some of the windows was discouraging. We also had someone come and clean the back patio while we were out shopping. A little unsettling. They also removed a box we had set outside for recycling our glass water bottles. We still enjoyed our stay in Fredricksburg but we won't choose this house again. Thank you.

A lot of clutter

The house was cluttered with a lot of old relics… very musty when we first arrived. Kept the AC very cold to help me not have asthma attacks. There was a lot of old things to look at and read. Was difficult to get comfortable on the old furniture. The larger bed had a dip in the middle of the bed that my husband and I rolled into. We were Out on the town a lot and made It all work out. The clutter disturbed our ability to really relax though. It was everywhere!! They did say that it was an old house, but I’ve stayed in many that don’t smell musty and are decorated with the dated style, but without all the clutter. Wasn’t really for us.

STOP RENTING THIS ONE OUT

I could write a novel - but the number one thing people need to know is this house literally has mold growing down the interior walls in the bedrooms. We did report it to the management company and hopefully the roof leak that has caused this will be tended to immediately before anyone else stays there. We really felt like our money should have been returned because of the health issues we were experiencing while there.
