Grand Canyon Ranch & Outfitters is AH-MAZING!! The only downside to this trip was that we only needed to stay one night. My husband and I definitely plan on going back.
A working cattle ranch that has belonged to a family for 7 generations is obviously doing something right! Normally, this is a place where people come to work and herd cattle (for that Ol' West experience) but just to take in the views and peace and quiet...ahhh!
It's important to know what you're getting into though. This is first and foremost a cattle ranch. There is no steady source of electricity. You are given (battery operated) lanterns for your cabins. A generator is run for so many hours in the morning and then again at night so electrical devices can be charged during those times (in the saloon). Honestly, though, if you come to stay here, you're not going to be using those devices a whole lot. This is a place where you disconnect. There are board games, a beautiful chessboard, free cookies and beverages all in the saloon. The showers are in a separate building but don't fear, these facilities would make some of your "regular" hotels jealous. But remember, if you want hot water, shower while the generator is running and don't forget your lantern if it's dark out.
The food. Oh, the food! Good, hearty ranch style cooking. This is the type of food you'd expect if you're about to go and work out in the field all day and it's delicious!
