Wedding and Family get together
Family members stayed with us at this property and we really enjoyed our stay here. The 4 bedrooms gave great privacy to each of the family groups - each with its own bathroom. The common area including living room and kitchen was spacious enough for all. The kitchen was well equipped and we went through the coffee pretty quick but the onsite manager was easily accessible for coffee refills and to take care of our trash. We were lucky enough to have some very nice warm sunny weather to enjoy sitting out on the back patio and play the lawn games. Cornhole in particular was popular. My only complaint is that we did not have enough time to try out the Japanese soaking tubs! All in all this was a perfect place for family members to stay to attend my daughter's wedding.

Everyone in our large group loved the property. Before we arrived, we thought it was pretty expensive, but the description suited our needs. At the end of our stay, everyone raved. One suggestion: put a box of tissues in each bathroom.

Not as private as advertised
The home is absolutely gorgeous. Set up like a spa. Lots of activities to do on site. But there is a family that lives 50 feet from the front door. Not 16 acres of privacy at all. Grandma was coming out of the shower and there was a child playing basketball right outside her room window. Kids staring at us through the window while we are getting in our cars. I use VRBO because of the advertisement saying no owners on site. Very disappointed about that. Everything else was perfect.

Hi Lisa. I am so sorry for the imposition. We do post that we have caretakers on-site, but that does not excuse the discomfort your grandma felt. In the years I have owners this property - all the while with the same caretakers- we have not experienced an issue like this before. The caretakers have been incredibly respectful of guests’ privacy and their little boy also has been equally respectful. He is an amazing child, but it seems broke the rule this one time. I frankly have been quite impressed how this young boy has respected rules in the past. Again, there is no excuse for our compromising your privacy. I just wanted to let you know this is an aberration and we take it seriously. I have spoken to the caretakers and they are aware of the issue and will ensure it does not repeat. Other than that unpleasantness, I hope you had a wonderful stay at Fox Hollow.

Great place for a big group!
This spot was really pleasant. We loved having all the space to hang out, cooked a lot in the kitchen, and played all the lawn games. Would totally stay here again!

Great place for multiple families
Great property in a very private setting. Perfect set up for multiple families since it has 4 master suites. Approximately 10 minutes to either Friday or Roche Harbor.

It was a great location and beautiful house
House was great, wildlife wondering by daily, all 4 rooms have their own private bath. Only down side and it was just the timing of a crazy heatwave was no AC.

Fabulous location - and property! Plus extra bonuses!
House was beautifully kept, and set up (4 suites plus common areas) to encourage both privacy and gathering as a group. Kitchen was well stocked and up to date (we loved the cookware) - we cooked several meals for our party of 7. Best of all was the property itself - having 16 acres of woods to roam in was amazing, and we loved all of the yard games. We had more than one croquet tournament, and had a fire every night. Loved watching the deer that visited the property in the morning and evenings, and the rabbits were simply adorable! Kate was fabulous in answering all of our questions! Would definitely return!

Fox Hollow Retreat is wonderful
We were extremely happy with Fox Hollow Retreat. The house and yard were very welcoming! The kitchen is well stocked with whatever you might need. The 4 bedrooms have their own bathroom with an amazing Japanese soaking tub, with plenty of towels. The house has plenty of seating, blankets, games, toys etc. The caretaker is incredibly helpful and attentive. We will definitely go back again!

Friday Island Paradise
An amazing stay at a beautiful home on a gorgeous property. We were welcomed with delicious goodies for breakfast. The Japanese soaking tub was amazing and there were lots of toys for our son to play with. Kate is an awesome manager and made sure we were comfortable, we would definitely return.

A lovely property and perfect home base while staying on San Juan for a wedding. It was wonderful to have such well equipped communal spaces and the privacy of 4 suites. The stocked breakfast goods was a thoughtful touch and appreciated!

Beautiful, cozy home with nice details
The home is beautiful, and despite being spacious it still felt very cozy. The heated floors were nice, and little details here and there made it feel very welcoming. The soaking tubs are amazing! There was a very friendly kitty and also a deer that both visited a few times. We really enjoyed all the indoor and outdoor games and wished we'd had more time to spend there! We'll definitely be back.

Lovely but not luxury
There were many bells and whistles at this home from plush robes, soaking tubs, and plenty of recreation toys outside. There were some areas where the property missed the mark. The decor and outside grounds were outdated. The kitchen was not fully stocked. Appliances were lacking and not reliable. If you are particular about what you consider luxury this property falls short. However, the owner is lovely and recently purchased the property. Very responsive and if they invest a little time and money this rental will fully shine.

The kids loved all of the outdoor activities. We all enjoyed the soaking tubs and the spacious home. We would highly recommend this destination to anyone coming to the San Juan Islands. We had everything we needed and the on site host was attentive and communicated with me via email on VBRO promptly when I asked questions. The only complaint I have is that many of the kitchen items-pots, pans, glass mixing bowls, pyrex cake pans, and serving dishes were dirty. The kitchen could be reorganized and simplified.

We had a great time. They let us check in early and the property was beautiful. They have games galore and the house was set up great for a big group. We did have some issues with some appliances but communication was great throughout.

Amazing Property and Stay!
This place is a forest paradise. So much to do on the property and all around the island. The kids loved the hammocks and the parents loved that the kids wanted to be outside the entire time! Frog pond, volleyball court, fire pit, trails for days. I can't say enough wonderful things about the property and house. We will for sure be back next summer! Thank you to Katie for all of your wonderful communication and snacks upon arrival! :-)

Friday Harbor Stay
We had an excellent experience at this beautiful property on San Juan Island. It could not have been better. The home was clean, spacious, and well equipped with everything we needed. The layout of the house is conducive to quiet. The beds were very comfortable and every room has its own bathroom, which was very nice. Lots of privacy. The caretaker was attentive and quick to help with any questions. The property is just gorgeous and there was lots of room for eating outside and playing outside. We could not have asked for anything better. We will definitely hope to stay here again in the future. I highly recommend it. It was worth every penny!

Awesome house!
Our large group loved this house. Having four bedrooms each with its own en-suite was wonderful. The Japanese soaking tubs were the perfect end to a day of biking, hiking or just relaxing. We made use of the large kitchen and enjoyed relaxing around the fire pit in the evening. Great location, easy biking distance to Roche Harbor and Friday Harbor. The nature walks on the beautiful property were an added plus. We enjoyed watching the deer that came to graze on the lawn around the house. I highly recommend this house!

Magical Getaway
Came here to propose to my now fiancé and celebrate our engagement with our families. Truly the best place we could have picked for our getaway! We woke up extra early every day because not being awake enjoying the property gave us a case of FOMO. We grilled, played ping pong, used the firepit, and even chose to take our engagement pictures in the backyard instead of any of the National Parks in the island! 10/10 recommend!

Amazing Weekend
This was an amazing weekend at this beautiful property surrounded by forest with wildlife visiting us - deers and humming birds. The house was so wonderful, so clean, cozy and a perfect fit for our group of 8 with a toddler. Every one of the four bedrooms has a bathroom with a bathtub you can stay in! On the top of all hospitality we had received there was complimentary breakfast staples in the kitchen. Communication with the host was just a breeze. We will be back for sure and I can highly recommend this property for friends and families!

Perfect spot for a family- great gathering area plus privacy for everyone.
It was a great 3 day weekend. We were blessed with perfect weather & the location was ideal. The house is very nice & there’s lots to do . Sitting outside in back seeing deer & a fox was entertaining. Would highly recommend this house. If anything was needed Kate & Jason were there to help.

Peaceful Island Getaway
My family and I had a wonderful time at the Fox Hollow Retreat. The grounds were absolutely gorgeous and there were acres of beautiful forest to explore. The lodge itself was immaculate and full of wonderful amenities. The Japanese soaking tubs were very relaxing and each of the 4 suites was felt like staying at a resort. We even saw an actual fox one evening trotting across the meadow outside one of the main windows. We would definitely go back there again sometime. Thanks for the wonderful hospitality!

Beautiful relaxing getaway
We had a lovely time staying at this home on San Juan Island. The home was private tucked into the woods with lots of Forrest trails to explore and so many deer who would hang around the home looking in the windows while they were eating outside. My kids loved the deep soaking jetted tubs and playing in the yard. It was centrally located so we could explore the whole island easily. We had a great trip.

Family Birthday Gathering
We had a wonderful visit...celebrating our Sister’s 70th Birthday. This home was perfect...we each had a comfortable bedroom with privacy. There was plenty of room to gather, cook, play board games, and enjoy the beautiful outdoors! The deer families were a delightful site! Thank you for a wonderful stay!!!

Our family had an amazing time! Our kids were in heaven with the trails, hammock, outdoor games and wide open spaces. The main part of the home was so open and calm, and each bedroom was private (and with a full bath). We will be back!

This property was perfect for our group of 8, each couple had their own bedroom and bath ! Tucked in the woods, very comfortable, inviting the outdoors in with many big windows. Very relaxing and wish we could have stayed longer !! Jean, the owner, went over and beyond to get us reservations on the Ferry to the San Juan Island - these Texans didn't realize you needed reservations! We do appreciate her help !

Great retreat for groups
We brought my parents and our 2 kids (both under 5 years old) and this place was a great fit for us. We have been to the island before and knew we would want to spend most of the time relaxing at the property. We cooked most meals and packed picnics for hikes. We enjoyed games of corn hole, basketball and generally running around. The older kid loved hammock time. Adults took turns relaxing in the soaking tubs. Everybody loved the fire pit and star gazing. We had slow mornings, sightseeing/ hiking and restful evenings. Jeannie was very responsive and provided insights that helped us plan our visit. The kitchen was well equipped with a full spice rack, most kitchen utensils, even everything needed for breakfast (e.g. fruits, cereal, instant oatmeal, ground coffee). The house is beautiful and very comfortable. We also enjoyed visits from the local deer family. We'll definitely look forward to the next opportunity to return with friends.

Delightful Retreat
This is a lovely property and a wonderful art filled house. Then add to that the welcome basket of food items to help make our stay easy and relaxing. We were also treated to the wanderings of a doe and her 2 still spotted fawns! I'd love to return!!!

Peaceful getaway
We enjoyed our stay and wished it lasted longer! It's in a private setting backed up to a forest but only a 12-minute drive to Friday Harbor. Modern one-level house with great kitchen to cook in and nice Weber outdoor grill. Nice firepit and they provide the wood. Comfortable beds of varying firmness. Lots of wildlife and deer friends checking in on us daily.

Friday Harbor - Summer Solstice

Great spot, great hosts
I'll agree with another reviewer, this place is great for two families. My sister's family and mine stayed here and it worked out great. There were enough dishes, pans, pots, etc. for us to make all of our meals. The on-site hosts were very accommodating and showed us all the features of the home. We especially liked the fire ring as we made S'mores every night. The host even provided the wood. The owner was also helpful in getting a jacket back to us that we left behind. As I told the owner this was by far the best rental experience we've had on VRBO.

Perfect get away!
