EscapetoItaly: Het split-levelappartement met 1 slaapkamer is perfect gelegen in een 17e-eeuws palazzo in het historische hart van de prachtige barokke Galatina (ook bekend als het kleine Lecce). Het verscheen op Channel 4's A Place in the Sun met Amanda Lamb in 2007 (kijk nu online op You Tube) en is sindsdien prachtig gerenoveerd door 'Puglia Estates' (ook op tv te zien). Het slaapt 2 tot 4 personen, is zelfstandig en is een perfecte uitvalsbasis voor het verkennen van de Salentine Peninsular. Het pand beschikt over originele gewelfde plafonds, 2 eigen dakterrassen (spectaculair uitzicht), een balkon over de geplaveide straten en op slechts 2 minuten lopen zijn winkels, restaurants, cafés en ijs (ijs) winkels het hele jaar geopend! Een prachtige, niet-toeristische, bloeiende en vriendelijke stad, een prachtig lokaal landschap en slechts een korte rit naar de Adriatische Zee of de Ionische Zee maken dit een ideale locatie om het rustig aan te doen en te genieten van de dolce vita. Er zijn mijl van stranden, hectare olijfgaarden en gallons fantastische wijn! Het appartement heeft verwarming / airco, Blue-ray / DVD / CD, projector, koelkast, vriezer, afwasmachine en wasmachine.

Net zoals bij veel oude woningen in Italië, zijn er veel steile stenen trap tussen vloeren (de plafonds zijn zeer hoog), sommige lage deuropeningen en zeer hoge dakterrassen met taille hoge muren. Als gevolg daarvan kan het appartement ongeschikt zijn voor personen met beperkte of beperkte mobiliteit of jonge kinderen (onder 10). Het is de verantwoordelijkheid van de gasten om de veiligheid van hun kinderen te waarborgen. Dit appartement is vol met karakter en originele kenmerken, en de hoge terrassen bieden een spectaculair uitzicht op Galatina en de omgeving. Rokers zijn welkom, maar we vragen dat gasten alleen buiten op een van de twee prive-dakterrasen roken.

Welkom Packs: Onze appartement manager (Cristiano) woont in Galatina en spreekt perfect Engels. Hij ontmoet je op het terrein met sleutels, en kan ook welkomstpakketjes of speciale verzoeken aanbieden. Waarom maak je zich zorgen over het vinden van een supermarkt op de eerste ochtend van je aankomst, als je net kon wakker worden en wat echte Italiaanse koffie en de prachtige lokale producten op het dakterras hebben? Hoe zit het met het toevoegen van die romantische touch door aankomen naar een gekoelde fles Prosecco, perfect voor uw eerste avond, kijken naar de Italiaanse zonnestoel terwijl op het zonneterras zat. Festiviteiten, Concerten en Markten: In de zomermaanden, Galatina en de omliggende steden gastheer veel openluchtconcerten, festivals en fabelachtige markten. Meer informatie vindt u op de website van de eigenaar (zie link hieronder) en op internet. Probeer te zoeken naar 'festa a Galatina' op Google, en klik op 'Vertaal deze pagina' indien nodig. Waarschijnlijker dan niet, gaat u maar één nacht in het oude stadsplein en luistert u naar prachtige live muziek of wordt u op een lokaal festival opgeveegd met lichten, parades, muziek en dansen!

very good!!!

This is an old appartement in a pallazio with modern equipement. Very good self coocking facilities in the appartement. The heating / air conditioning device was enough to get pleasant temperatures in the rooms. The terras on the toproof is a big plus. Free parking in the nearby streets wasn't a problem. Ideal stay to explore the south part of the Salento. A little attention at this time of the year (= begin of november) is that a part of restaurants are closed.

Authentic Experience in Stylish Comfort

My husband and I stayed in this gorgeous apartment in Galatina in April 2024. One of the highlights of our trip was staying in this well equipped, perfectly located home in the historic district. Staying in the historic district, walking to the local coffee shop every morning on a cobble stoned street were some of the elements that provided that authentic experience we were looking for. The apartment is on three levels and has been beautifully and tastefully redone. Our favorite was the terrace area off the kitchen where we sat each night drinking a glass of wine and listening to the church bells and cooing of the pigeons. I think it very roomy for a couple with three separate areas to enjoy (bedroom bathroom / living room / kitchen & terrace). There is also a second bathroom on the third level. The kitchen had modern appliances - dishwasher, washing machine, etc with other little unexpected touches like a blue tooth speaker and even a movie projector. The living room is relaxing and every area of the apartment was super clean and comfortable. Check in and out was so easy! The host (Jim) and property manager (Christiano) were incredibly friendly, going above and beyond what was expected. Outstanding communication and very responsive. We can't wait to go back! Thank you Jim!

Property is very central in walking distance of lots of nice bars, restaurants and the famous original Pasticiotto bakery in Galatina. Good base to explore Lecce and either coastline in southern Puglia.

Perfect hideaway in Galatina

Owners are helpful and informative and the house is in a perfect location in the middle of the old town. Parking not a problem with a permit that was easy to get. Galatina is a charming base to explore Puglia. Although the sun terrace is quite a bonus for the middle of the old town.

A perfect place for a couple (see limitations of the flat) to explore Southern Apulia - Lecce, Otranto, Gallipoli, Leuca etc. There are some reasonable restaurants in walking distance, but also a well equipped kitchen.

Can't wait to return

My husband and I stayed for five days — much too short! The apartment is beautiful, comfortable and so well-equipped. The location was perfect, too; between 20 and 30 minutes to each coast, and a two-minute walk to excellent pastries, sandwiches, and etc. Jim is a wonderful host, quick with excellent suggestions, We will definitely be back.

Excellent place to live in the south east of Puglia

This was an excellent apartment in the south east of Puglia. The apartment is in the old town of Galatina, the location is perfect for wandering around the town. Galatina provides an excellent location for exploring Puglia, including the beaches of both the Adriatic and Ionian coasts. The apartment is exactly as per the photographs. It is on the first and second floors with a roof top terrace, while the steps are steep, they are easier to use than many other Italian apartments., however do require consideration. The apartment is beautifully presented and very comfortable to live in, you could easily stay for any period from one day to months. The kitchen is fully functional. Using a mix of the installed shade cloth, the windows and covers and the air conditioning enables the temperature to be well controlled even on very hot weather. This was a perfect place to stay.

Quirky house in the centro storico

We spent 3 nights here without a car. Trains are frequent Monday to Saturday to Lecce and Gallipoli and fun to use. For a longer period though a car would be needed. Cristiano very kindly met us as we were walking to the property. We were there in a heat wave and found that by keeping shutters closed in the day that there was no need to use air con. Rooftop terrace was too hot to use in the day but we got takeaways and ate up there in the evening. Good cafes and gelaterias nearby in the square. Would have liked an electric kettle. Also water pressure is low on Sunday mornings but this is mentioned in the guide to the property. Santa Caterina cathedral is definitely worth a visit. Both Jim and Cristiano are quick to respond to any queries and a lot of effort has been put into making it a comfortable place to stay.

Stunning Accomodation and Location

Fantastic apartment, just as Jim and Paul describe. Situated in the old town within five minutes walk to bars and several restaurants and a small supermarket. The apartment is fully furnished and very well equipped, for those who wish to cook at home, although you would then be missing out on the great food on offer in Galatina. A sleepy town by day that comes alive at night esp at the weekend. Jim and Paul's information pack covers everything from suggested bars, restaurants, parking, beaches and places of interest to visit in the area. We could not ask for more for us to revisit a different part of Puglia after 20 years. As you can tell we had a great time.

Lovely apartment with all the facilities you need and ideally placed with bars and restaurants on your doorstep. Jim and Paul were a dream to deal with and gave lots of information. Cristiano who manages the property was great and nothing was too much trouble. Galatina is a great base from which to explore the region. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property.

Charming home near the city center

We really enjoyed our stay at this bi-level home in Galatina. Renovated and modern, it was the perfect spot to enjoy Galatina and Puglia. The home comes with everything that you would need for a comfortable stay, and the property manager was very responsive and helpful. The only "minus" is the steep stairs, but we were forewarned and we did not mind them at all - they added to the charm! Highly recommend!

Wonderful!

We have recently returned from a wonderful week in Galatina. The apartment is fantastic, very well equipped, full of character with two outdoor terraces high on the roof. We loved it! A big thank you to Christiano (apartment manager) who had to come and find us on our arrival as many of the little streets were closed due to a music festival and we were getting hopelessly lost! Crowds of people later that evening joined in with singing and dancing to the music being performed on stage. A lovely way to start our holiday with a great party atmosphere in Galatina! The apartment is a perfect base to explore Puglia and it was lovely to be staying right in the heart of the old town with many restaurants and cafes within a couple of minutes walk. There is a very useful information pack from Jim and Paul in the apartment suggesting places of interest nearby. We visited most towns and also had a relaxing day on the beautiful sandy beach at Sant'Isidoro, a 30 minute drive from the apartment. We will definitely be recommending this apartment to family and friends and hopefully will return one day to this charming and friendly town.

Authentic Italy in a historic hideaway

Our stay in Galatine was everthing we were looking for. Located in the old town of Galatina, which has some wonderful architecture and stunning churches, it was a beatifully removated property with a fantastic private and sunny terrace which was wonderful for eating out on in the morning and evening. The kitchen was on the top floor with the terrace and above was another wonderful area for sunning yourself. The lounge, bedroom and bathroom was on the lower floors and were cool and more shady but they over looked the beautilul street that the property was located on. Galatina has some very good and reasonable restaurants. It felt very untouristy but it was a thriving italian town with lots of life and everyday shops. Although inland it was well located for drives to all the best places in Puglia including Gallipolli, Otrano, Lecce, and other fantastic beaches on the west and east coasts. It was a lovely intimate place and perfect for a romantic break in a real Itallian town. It has lots of stairs being a tall house so not that suitable for young children or older people who struggle with steps. The property was clean and communication with the property managers easy. Parking nearby is usually ok but the old town has narrow streets and can be confusing when locating the property. Enjoy

A Convenient and Comfortable Stay

The house is attractive, comfortable and well-equipped, very central and convenient. It's full of character and the roof terrace is a great advantage. Apart from parking and the wifi connection being a little temperamental, everything was as described and the owners' concerns that you have a comfortable stay was evident. We'd recommend.
