Secluded among gardens and a lush, ancient forest, Mostelia is one of several well appointed apartments in a small borgo between San Gimignano and Volterra. Rest and relaxation are paramount here, however, many lovely small villages and tourist attractions are within driving distance of this beautifully restored historical site that once housed families who worked mining the gypsum found abundantly in the area. If you are fortunate enough to visit while the owner is on site, she will share the history of the community and is most helpful with information and directions to surrounding attractions.
You will need a car and a reliable GPS as the property is well off the main path, but once you arrive, you will be in awe of the remarkable view of the incomparable Tuscan countryside from the second floor windows. Mostelia, with two bedrooms and two baths, offers all the privacy one could want and the full kitchen allows for easy meal preparation. There is a washing machine, but like most apartments in Italy, the "clothes horse" is used for drying clothes. I prefer the decadence of the American electric clothes dryers, but realize, when in Italy, I must do as the Italians!
Loved our stay, enthralled with the beauty and peaceful surroundings; will certainly visit again!
