Beautiful villa in wonderful mountain village location with stunning views.
We were not disappointed when arriving at the villa. The property is amazing - spacious and beautifully decorated. As a multi-generational family of 9, we had all we could possibly need. Space, great weather - the grandchildren fully enjoyed the pool, wonderful walks and the most breathtaking and stunning views. When not in the water, the children spent their time vulture spotting. Mark is a superb host and helped us source medical care for a family emergency. He responded quickly to emails and was only a phone call away if needed. We certainly all fell in love with the village and I would highly recommend a stay there.

Une magnifique maison offrant de belles prestations, décorée avec gout et de magnifiques photos. Une vue imprenable depuis les terrasses ou le bord de la piscine. Un peu frais en avril. Emplacement ideal au sein de gaucin, agreable village, sejour tres paisible et relaxant. Contact tres efficace et rapide avec l hote.

beautiful house, beautiful view
We spent two weeks in October/November 23 in this very beautiful house with view to the coast and on clear days till Marocco and enjoyed our time there very much!! we were a bit unlucky with the wheather (deperately needed rain) but enjoyed the open fire place and the well equipped kitchen; the terrace, the view and the pool on sunny days are just breathtaking. The area is beautiful. If you are up for driving, you can go on stunning excursions - to Grazalema, Zahara, Sétenil, Ronda, the Caminito del Rey and take great walks in the Sierra de Grazalema. Because we liked this mountain area very much, we didn't much go to the coast (just once in two weeks) but rather enjoyed the sunny days by the house. Both Mark and Esther (the house manager) were very helpful whenever we had questions or needed help with some house management. Thanks for offering this villa maravilloso up for rent, our group of eight (between 13 and 82) spent happy times here (and there is enough space and privacy for everyone)!!! Gaucín is also a lot of fun to explore, there are many restaurants and tapas bar, even livelier in summer but also in October there were enough opportunities do dine out.

Stay at Gaucin
We had a magical stay at Mark and Star’s Villa in Gaucin. The pictures do not do the location and views justice, a truly stunning place. There was ample room for the 8 guests with various spaces to relax, eat and sunbathe, and we particularly enjoyed eating as the sun set on the terrace. Gaucin is a great place with lots of restaurants and groceries available and we were lucky enough to be at the first food festival held over the weekend. As with other reviews the are a few things in the villa that could be updated, but this did not deter from the stay. I really didn’t want leave and to me that says everything about the villa and hosts

Amazing Villa in the white villages of Andalucia
What a lovely villa and surrounding area! Gaucin was the perfect village for our group - within walking distant and a number of fabulous restaurants to choose from with breathtaking views. But I also would have been content to never leave the grounds. Views are stunning and the pool provided a deep, refreshing respite from the summer heat. Mark was a fantastic host and met our every need. I would go back in a heartbeat!

A1 location, incredibly relaxed and great hosts, Mark & Star, who happened to be around and asked us for lovely drinks at their other property. So relaxed in fact, that I read 3+ books in a week. Plenty of great eateries, although we did BBQ twice too.

Le regard par-dessus les montagnes
Cette propriété vous donne l’impression de rêver les yeux ouverts! Nichée dans un petit village dans les montagnes, la localisation de la maison permet de se balader à pied pour visiter tout prêt et aussi de sortir un peu plus loin en voiture pour explorer les alentours. La vue est incroyable et difficile à décrire tellement c’est beau et apaisant. Le jardin est superbe et même si nous étions trop tôt en saison pour profiter de la piscine, nous avons quand même eu l’occasion de nous prélasser sur les patios autour. Nous recommandons sans hésiter!! Excellente communication avec le propriétaire.

Amazing house with outstanding views!
Fantastic house with amazing views of mountain valley, Gibraltar, Mediterranean, all the way to Morocco! Gaucin in a wonderful village with several bars and restaurants within its narrow winding roads (get a small car) Host was a great communicator and did everything possible to make sure we were happy and comfortable.

Awesome home and location
We spent almost a week with our adult children at this lovely property. The house fit our needs completely. The living and outside areas were particularly nice, and the weather was ideal to enjoy the great outdoors. Additionally, its central location enabled us to take wonderful day trips to such places as Ronda, Marbella, Gibraltar and Tangier. The property owners were incredibly helpful and gave us suggestions as to what to do, where to go, and even the hiring of an outstanding local chef. Highly recommend!

Fantastic Villa, Wonderful Location and Views
We visited end of October for a week, with 3 generations of family. The villa is fantastic, views were amazing and just a short stroll to lovely tapas bars. We visited Ronda, Estepona and met up with other local family, as well as spending a few days just chilling out at the Villa enjoying the peace, pool and views. The Gaucin roads are a little daunting, but we had a 9 seater mini-van and after a couple of days quickly got used to the tight spots! Mark was fantastic in his communication, never took longer than 30 mins to get back to me, even when on a trip to Costa Rica. Would not hesitate to recommend or return.

Beautiful house in a nice village with many top notch restaurants. Areas to the north offered excellent and varied road cycling. Cycleronda in Ronda offered great suppprt for our cycling holiday.

Fabulous!
A wonderful property but could do with a little updating in one of the bathrooms and the kitchen. But overall it is a great property with nice bedrooms and living spaces and with glorious views towards Gibraltar and Morocco. The pool area is really magnificent as are the outdoor dining areas. It would be difficult to find better elsewhere!

Great Villa, stunning location, brilliant owners = memorable holiday
I booked the villa months in advance. It was late into the evening of my own birthday party, and based on the amazing pictures and great reviews (and a bit of wine) we couldn't believe the villa was available on the dates we wanted to book..: so we booked it. As we got closer to the booking I did start to wonder if it would really be as good as we'd hoped or the reviews stated. All I can say is it easily met our hopes and expectations, and the proactive, genuinely helpful and considerate owners were the icing on the cake. The villa itself is well laid out, with excellent communal spaces, each making the most of the amazing location and views, this makes eating and socialising in a large group easy (8 in our party), and enjoyable. The gas barbecue was a real bonus, for those evenings when we chose to cook rather than eat locally. Gaucin itself has a lot of great options for eating and drinking, and the small local shop is incredibly well stocked. In summary, I couldn't recommend the villa enough. The only thing that would make me hesitate is that someone else might book it on the basis of this review and we'd miss out, next time we choose to visit. That said, the owners deserve a full diary of bookings, they were great.

Wonderful week in Gaucin
Had a truly lovely week in this fabulous villa. From the moment we booked contact with the hosts was efficient with lots of useful information, a map to get to the villa (much needed initially) and recommendations and tips about the restaurants and bars. The villa itself is wonderful and comfortable with everything you need and only a short stroll into beautiful Gaucin. However the crowning glory is the outside space, the pool and in particular the views which are quite special. Would happily recommend a stay to anyone and hope one day to return.

What Memories are made of.....

The online photos don't fully capture the magical nature of this stunning home and its sensational views. The house was booked for a family birthday celebration in 2020 but covid restrictions overtook. Throughout multiple reorganisation of the event Mark was extremely helpful and flexible. Communication was excellent and he helped organise a surprise on arrival. The photo's on the listing attracted me to this property and in real life was truly fabulous. Everyone in the party of 9 loved the house, views and village. We had a really special holiday and will definitely look to return.

High expectations exceeded
The house has a truly unique flair - you immediately realize someone took time and effort to make it homely. Being it the authentic Andalusian touch, the open fire-place, the huge book (English language) and DVD library - it is all give to feel home. We’ve been there with our 5 and 3 years old daughters, and there is clearly enough space for quite active kids. A family of 6 really shall find enough space. The 3 kingsized bedrooms are all en-suite As we visited the estate in March and whether clearly underperformed our expectations, the (good northern European Standard) central heating was priceless… Next time we travel to Andalusia, we‘ll book it again.

Fabulous house in perfect location
We loved our stay here - the house was brilliantly equipped and had spectacular views across to the rock of Gibraltar. We spent most days on the patio area by the pool watching the amazing bird life and views while the kids enjoyed the lovely pool. Then a short walk and we were in Gaucin with its great tapas bars and restaurants. This was without doubt one of the best holiday houses we have stayed in.

Besser geht es nicht!
Ein tolles Haus mit einem sogar beheiztem Pool, der zum verweilen einlädt. Die Kinder waren gar nicht mehr aus dem Wasser zubekommen. Das Haus ist sehr großzügig und geschmackvoll eingerichtet. Die 3 Hauptschlafzimmer haben alle einen Balkon mit einem Blick, der an guten Tagen bis zur Afrikanischen Küste reicht. Gleiches gilt für die 2 Terassen. Kleines Manko: Die 2 weiteren (kleineren) Schlafzimmer befinden sich in einer Art Einliegerwohnung und sind mit dem Haupthaus über eine Außentreppe verbunden. Aber: Unsere 4 Kinder fanden es toll und hatten ihr eigenes Reich. Insgesamt eine top Location mit einer tollen Betreuung durch Max und Esther. Wir kommen wieder.

Vacances parfaites avec vue à couper le souffle!
La villa de Mark et Star est exceptionnelle, superbement décorée, agencée et équipée! Les propriétaires ont plein de bons conseils pour profiter de Gaucin et de la région, le village est splendide, et on ne se lasse pas de la vue à couper le souffle sur la vallée. We loved this beautiful home with amazing views, lovely gardens, and a wonderful little village. The village Castillo de Aguila is a short hike away. Day trips to Ronda, Malaga, and Granada were doable. A marvelous location!

Idyllic.
Thank you so much we had a perfect stay. The house is comfortable and works well for a large party. The outdoor spaces are ingeniously designed to maximise the stunning views and absorb the peace. The house and garden is not overlooked despite been so conveniently positioned on the edge of the lively village. There are plenty of restaurants, tapas bars, and shops within an easy stroll. We had a fun, family holiday in a breathtaking setting.

What a superb villa with amazing views. It is far enough out of town to give you peace and tranquillity but close enough to walk to the shops and restaurants. The villa is well equipped and the pool is lovely. The property manager (Esther) is really on the ball, we had a couple of minor issues which were dealt with in a matter of minutes - what a service!! The owners (Mark and Star) are just the easiest people to deal with, as soon as they heard about any kind of problem they were in touch immediately to ensure everything was ok which is something I’ve never experienced before - thank you so much! Would certainly recommend to anyone wishing to explore Southern Spain.

Fabulous place
This villa surpassed our expectations. It was very well fitted and furnished, full of character and had the most incredible views, from almost every window, and also from the fabulous pool terrace. We were a group of 4 couples, and each of us had a marvellous room. The shared areas were perfect, and we particularly loved the outdoor terrace which held both a dining table, and a second social area, with marvellous views out for miles, as far as Gibraltar and Africa. Totally private once inside, and really peaceful - many hours spent just gazing out at the view, watching the eagles! Hard to beat. Probably not suitable for someone who struggles with stairs, but otherwise, pretty much perfect. Some great walking in the area also. The owners were extremely helpful, answering a number of requests for information very promptly. The village of Gaucin is also a fantastic place - small enough to feel like a village, and yet a number of shops and excellent restaurants within easy walking distance. We particularly liked Terral, and had some great food from the lovely Bonissim deli also. Really no need to leave the village if you didn't want to. We had a wonderful week here, and I would have no hesitation recommending it. Hopefully will be back at some stage! Thank you Mark and Star for a truly memorable holiday.

A beautiful spot
Excellent villa which lived up to it's advance publicity, a fantastic position and a very well equipped and charming house. Eating out in Gaucin can be a challenge due limited options and unexpected closures on certain days so there is a need to plan ahead.

Thank you for your kind comments and we are glad you enjoyed your stay. For the restaurants we prefer to book in advance to be sure we get a table. Tapas is generally easier - though they do have days when they are closed.

Beautiful views and extremely relaxing haven! We've returned renewed and recharged .
The most amazing views from the balconies, absolutely stunning! Very comfortable villa, a real home from home. Gaucin is a food lovers paradise and has some really fabulous restaurants. As well as great produce from local stores and an amazing butchers! A holiday that will totally rejuvenate you and leave you wanting more!

Attractively furnished villa which felt like a home. Truly stunning views in good location.
Positives first. Very attractive property with truly stunning views. Beautiful pool area and the garden was a highlight with a variety of mature trees and shrubs and lots of colour. Really pretty. Lovely outside sitting areas. House well located on edge of town but within easy walking distance of all facilities. Gaucín is a very pretty village with nice restaurants and bars. Negatives - kitchen was rather dated and indoor dining area was dark with bars on windows. Couldn’t open dining room door to terrace. Sky TV didn’t work. Studio room felt damp. Pool unheated so unusable in April. However overall impression was very good and would definitely recommend to friends.

We’re glad you enjoyed your stay. We note your comments: the kitchen is simple rather than fancy though in due course we plan to add a new cooker hob - other appliances were new in 2018. We’re sorry you weren’t able to open the French window grills in the dining room - our house manager is always on hand to help and the key hangs behind the curtain. On the Studio, we will be sure to run the heating for a day before guests arrive in future as it doesn’t get used so regularly in the low season. As you say, the pool isn’t heated - the swimming season doesn’t really begin until hotter weather in May/June. We understand the Skybox malfunction was frustrating – its working well now and we will try and find out what the issue was. Notably, not all channels are available in Spain. Thanks again for your comments and for staying with us.

Beyond Incredible
My husband and I just returned from the charming town of Gaucin, Spain. We have traveled quite extensively and this property was stunning. You have to see it in person to understand how beautiful the views from this property actually are. In a word, incredible! The property owner, Mark, was great to work with and most helpful with lots of great information in advance of our trip. In addition, even though we were there during the off season (late November), the town was so charming with great tapas bars and also several grocery stores for house stocking and multiple (very nice) and delicious restaurants we were lucky enough to visit. All-in-all, I highly recommend this property. Even seasoned travelers will have a hard time finding a house like this with more amazingly beautiful views of the countryside and the Rock of Gibraltar. We would absolutely come back and visit this beautiful home and town!

Stunningly beautiful
What a fabulous place. It was more beautiful than we imagined and the views every morning continued to take our breath away, time and time again. The house is super comfortable and we loved cooking in the kitchen and having long lazy lunches on the terrace. Sleepy afternoons spent by the magnificent pool were some of the most relaxing we’ve ever had. Evening dinners in the beautiful village were always delicious. Can’t think of a more idyllic place to spend a week. Thank you Mark and Star.

Fabulous views and well positioned in the village
